MagnoliaBlossom Posted September 2 #1 Share Posted September 2 I rarely turn on the TV on a cruise ship, but I realized that our upcoming casino cruise on the Breezewill be during the presendial debate. I am maschistic enough to want to watch it. We should be on a sea day between Galveston and Cozumel. For those of ya u wh do watch TV onboard, what are the chances of there being coverage of this? staceyglow Posted September 2 #2 Share Posted September 2 I am going to go with zero. The international news channel they typically broadcast might show some highlights later on. Otherwise, you can buy a wifi package (or pay the daily rate) to stream it on your phone or computer.

Rambler64 Posted September 2 #4 Share Posted September 2 I catch grief for this, but I love watching movies at night. I made sure we could on ship. We brought a cheap ($50 on sale) HD projector that was about 6" across and two tall, a $15 cloth screen, some magnet hooks for same, and a wire to connect a phone to the projector. With the premium Starlink internet on Pride, we could watch anything we wanted, and I think I only remember one stutter over an entire week. Our only modification will be to bring longer connecting wire. If you have premium you should be easily able to stream it from any number of sites.
Rare starstruck05 Posted September 3 #5 Share Posted September 3 The Liberty had the CBS 24 hour news channel and we were able to watch the DNC live and on replay in our room. They may show highlights since the debate isn't on CBS. There were no other news channels so I don't think you'll have any luck without an internet package/streaming.

sanger727 Posted September 3 #11 Share Posted September 3 (edited) You would have to stream it on your own device. The news coverage is typically international, not US specific. While I'm not a fan of presidential debates - there is probably a drinking game to be had if you were inclined. EarloftheSeas Posted September 3 #12 Share Posted September 3 (edited) It will be covered afterwards on CBS News Channel carried on cabin TV, but I just realized the debate is on ABC, so not live as I posted originally. ABC/Disney and DirecTV are having a carriage dispute at the moment, so check to make sure any streaming service you use is actually carrying ABC and not blacked out.
DeniseTr Posted September 3 #15 Share Posted September 3 As long as I can stream the late-night comedians like Colert after the debate, I'm happy.

One thing is for sure, none of them can hope to hold a candle to the greats that came before them.
ahahn078 Posted September 3 #19 Share Posted September 3 Get the internet package and then stream it on the YouTube. There will be several channels there that will stream the debate for no additional charge. Carnival doesn't have any good news channels (at least during the last time I went), so Internet package plus YouTube will be your best option.

There is always the option of answering the question you want to answer while ignoring the question that was asked. 2 1

Thanks for asking the question. I, too, will be cruising and was considering options for watching. I couldn't imagine it would be televised in any of the public areas. Appreciate the responses.
