StLouisCruisers Posted Saturday at 12:57 PM Author #26 Share Posted Saturday at 12:57 PM My DD in Cincinnati has been out of power since yesterday. And DDIL's brother in Asheville has no power either. This storm had quite an outreach. Hoping repairs are made quickly for all involved. Eastern Georgia counties show up to 99% of electric customers with no power with a very few out of power in my own county. So grateful for our good luck but that doesn't help those suffering without their power and in some cases water like in Asheville. 16

They are west of Asheville in the mountains. The creek on their property has risen before so I assume it did again and likely much worse. I expect we’ll hear something today. 🤞🙏 If they needed a rescue by boat they’ll have been brought to safety where I assume they could get word out. But cell towers might not be functioning. Power is out everywhere there. I’ll post when I hear. m— 18
Quartzsite Cruiser Posted Saturday at 01:30 PM #30 Share Posted Saturday at 01:30 PM (edited) Good windy morning from central Texas. It is currently 61F with a 4mph wind from the NNW, and sunny skies. The humidity is better at 88% with a dew point of 58F. Our predicted high is 89F. It's Saturday, so it must be yard work day, and UT football afternoon. With the rain earlier this week, there is more green to mow, but I'll wait until it gets a tad bit warmer. This afternoon the Longhorns play the Mississippi State Bulldogs in Austin. 🤘 HOOKEM HORNS! 🤘 We had a freshwater fish tank when we lived in The Woodlands. Our PCP has two or three tropical fish tanks in his office. Everyone should have access to information, and all should have the right to know for most things. I think some personal things or those relating to tragedy should be limited to the basics and the rest left out if it will harm or make matters worse for those involved. The Martin Luther King, Jr. quote is very true. I love a good chicken salad, but never had a warm one. I'll check out the recipes. We'll pass on the drink, but I would not turn down the wine if offered. We drove through Monterey in 2000, but that was pre-digital. We did not stop that day since we could not find a place to park. I am still a big Beatles fan, and always liked "Hey Jude". Paul McCartney wrote the song for John Lennon's son Julian when his parents divorced. I read recently that Julian has said he still cannot listen to the song. @StLouisCruisers Sandi, I'm glad your DGD and her new husband made both the substitute flights. I hope their luggage arrives in Rome soon. If not, they'll have fun buying some nice Italian clothes. @ottahand7 Nancy, I hope your DB is doing better today. Is there an Encompass Rehabilitation Hospital close to him. IMHO that would be the best place for him. Everyone in the Encompass facility DH was in two years ago was wonderful and caring. @rafinmd Roy, first, apologies for calling you Ray yesterday afternoon. I'll echo what Ann @cat shepard said about Encompass rehab. I honestly believe they saved DH's life when he had the pulmonary embolism. While they did not know it was an embolism, they picked up on something being wrong, and transferred him to the hospital. If he'd been home, we might have not realized what was happening until it was too late. @smitty34877 Terry, I'm sorry Tana had such a rough week, but was glad she was able to eat some rice pudding yesterday. I hope the teenager's team wins and that he can play some. @aliaschief Bruce, I hope you have a safe flight home, and find everything there is all right. @RMLincoln Maureen, I hope your nephew and family are all right, and just cannot contact anyone. @dfish Debbie, I could not find the link to the second recipe. marshhawk Posted Saturday at 01:50 PM #34 Share Posted Saturday at 01:50 PM Good Saturday Morning Dailyties! The computer said sunny and 67 a few minutes ago, but looking out down the hill? I see clouds, and it is once again dark. I'm sure they will blow away soon. This is the first Saturday since probably March that I have not had to work. There is no race, there is no work, I slept until 8:22 and even the cats didnt wake me for breakfast. We didnt get out yesterday at all, except to grab the mail. There has been a lot of mail theft on our street recently, so when I hear the truck go up the street, I scurry (as fast as I can scurry) to wait for him at the bottom of the drive. Today, we need to get out, get some breakfast, pick up DH's meds, and get enough food to get us through the week. Or at least part of the week. I apologize for whining for the last 3 days about my vacation being changed. I truly feel for our hosts in Cedar Key, and wonder if they have been there for 4 years, and gone through 4 hurricanes, and have already had to rebuild once, if they will stay. My loss of vacation is not one teeny tiny bit as bad as the loss of their business and property. And since life is about change, changing ones plans should not have been so heartbreaking. I am still trying to figure out where my head was. I guess I have not liked hearing any of the bad news that has come our way, and just wanted one thing to go right. Instead of driving like a crazy person for 2 days, we will take 3 and see some sights. (have to figure out the sights). Our other couple have decided to go see Niagara Falls, stay a couple days Stateside, and then spend a couple of days Canadian side. 26

JazzyV Posted Saturday at 02:11 PM #38 Share Posted Saturday at 02:11 PM Good morning. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily. Not sure about the fish tank floor show. The 2 days regarding information I can celebrate. Another great MLK quote. Not sure about the meal (warm chicken salad), yes for the drink and pass on the wine ($$). I haven't been to Monterey. A good day in history for the Beatles. It's cloudy again here. We only got 0.96" of rain so far this month, where the normal is 3". Today should be pretty dry for our travels to the halfway point, and hopefully tomorrow also. BFF will be here around 11:30 to pick me up. My stomach is being a little finicky (I think from the RA shot on Wed), so I hope that settles down. I may have a little gingerale. I'm trying to keep the wrap intact another day or so by placing an ace bandage over the top of it. @TAW1963 Bon Voyage! @Haljo1935 Bon Voyage! @StLouisCruisers What a start to Ashley and Christopher's honeymoon! But I'm sure they'll have a great time once they're all settled. @Vict0riann Great that Pat is home and could resume some of the things he wanted to do. @rafinmd I'm glad your nephew Keith is there, and I hope you get to go to rehab on Monday. @aliaschief Safe trip home. It sounds like a nap later is in order. @RMLincoln Prayers for your family in NC. @smitty34877 I'm sorry that Tana has had a difficult week (and therefore difficult for all, I'm sure). @marshhawk No worries. It's hard when something you've been looking forward to has to change. @GTVCRUISER Nice photos. @kazu I hope you're having less pain and are able to sleep a bit better. Prayers for the Care List and Cheers to those Celebrating. 21
ellbelle Posted Saturday at 02:11 PM #39 Share Posted Saturday at 02:11 PM (edited) Good morning from another warm days in Central CA, going up to 96 today. What a collection of days, good quote and the meal looks tasty. Sticking with our normal steak dinner tonight along with a baked potato and caesar salad. We love Monterey and are fortunate to be within driving distance and have been there numerous times. The aquarium is a must see and sets the bar high for other aquariums. Great pics @Sir PMP and also of Mission Ranch in Carmel. Fred’s uncle (who lived a few blocks from it) played the piano during lunch and was compensated with free drinks. We didn’t get as much accomplished yesterday as we had hoped so I’m going over again today, my back hurts and I only got 4 hours sleep, so hopefully this will be only a half day thing. SIL also texted me yesterday morning asking for my help getting his stuff organized, he’s like Pigpen in the Peanuts cartoon but it’s not as cute, it drives me insane how disorganized he is. Thinking of all on the care list and those affected by the terrible hurricane and aftermath. It amazes me with the amount of rain @StLouisCruisers reported that her area came through unscathed which is wonderful. Enjoy the day! Cruising-along Posted Saturday at 02:56 PM #41 Share Posted Saturday at 02:56 PM Good morning from Yellowstone! We don’t have service in the park with T Mobile so I try to catch up with the WiFi here at our B&B. Will try to catch up on the Daily happenings later. Yesterday we had a lovely day for our anniversary. We drove down to Grand Tetons. The fall colors are amazing!! 32
Sharon in AZ Posted Saturday at 03:02 PM #42 Share Posted Saturday at 03:02 PM Good morning and Happy Saturday. Yesterday it was 107F and today it’s supposed to be 104F. Not sure when it will cool down, probably mid October. Today we are booking our hotel and flights. Unfortunately, the best flight is through Dallas but that’s okay because we will have a longer time between flights as a cushion. My DD DF had a fish tank that was in the wall between his two exam rooms. He spent a lot of time working on it and buying fish and taking care of it. His favorite fish was an angelfish. I would like to try the meal today but without cream of whatever soup. I think just the mayo would be enough. We were go to Monterey on our Pacific Coastal cruise October 2021 on the Koningsdam but it was canceled, the city banned cruise ships so I’m not sure ships can go there anymore. I’m not sure if it was because of covid or just the city’s ban. Bon Voyage to @Haljo1935 and @TAW1963!! Enjoy Alaska! Have a great day everyone! 26

kochleffel Posted Saturday at 04:07 PM #50 Share Posted Saturday at 04:07 PM I don't know what a fish tank floor show would be, and I'm not sure that I want to know. I would consider a version of the casserole but it would have to be dairy-free. I'd skip the drink. For a Bordeaux blend, maybe the Wagner Vineyards 2020 Meritage, $29.99. After several nights of waking much too early, I slept late today. 6
