  1. @schooner_DrinkerLOL...I didn't say "you said it". I meant that it was in the thread...Americans want their burgers. For the record...I only eat about 2 meatballs a year!
  2. @schooner_DrinkerThanks for the link! My first MSC trip was on the Divina, 12/2015: The second trip, Meraviglia,10/2019. I was "with the mases" both times, and loved those sailings. I found my co-travelers to be non-American, and for the most part sophisticated. The "non-American atmosphere' was what made the trip great. I have no problem with "a million languages" (I live in NYC...I'm used to being spoken to in many tongues). According the your link,,,,the issue was with the Americans (rude, only wanting hamburgers etc). So, @LMaxwell With the risk of being politically incorrect, were "those people of whom you speak" residents of the United States? We were in the YC in April...and when we ventured out, we found it to be very heavily a "non-American crowd" from a culture where pushing is a way of life. For us it's YC or nothing. And here's the thing: YC interiors are so reasonably priced for what you get, I'm concerned that the "exclusivity" of the YC may become watered down.
  3. Only 2 words to say about this...oy vey. My next statements would have been politically incorrect....so I won't say anything, other than when you're selling cruises at ridiculously low prices, those prices don't attract the most sophisticated people.
  4. @CTRobin.....you should be able to cancel YC without a penalty, Are any of your cabins in an interior? I]m hoping one becomes available on that sailing..... Other lines give people some sort of compensation to make up "for things" such as increased price of new cruise (obc).
  5. I'm hoping they do something about the YC beach. Maybe use the less rocky one across the road!
  6. My cruise concierge just called me. According to him....if I book "the still bookable" 7 day cruise....I would be grandfathered into the extended 10 day cruise.... One of the perks of retirement....my time is my own!
  7. @bostoncruisegal This is the e-mail I got from my TA: If you will sail aboard MSC Meraviglia with the revised itinerary, no further action is required on your part. If you prefer to reschedule your cruise vacation, you can select from the following three options. If you wish to select one of the below options, please respond to this email before July 31, 2023. You can reschedule your cruise to an alternative Caribbean Summer 2024 Sailing with a departure date between April 1st, 2024 through October 31st, 2024. No change fees will apply and MSC will honor the best rate as long as the new cruise is of the same length and accommodation as the original sailing. Any payments already made towards the original cruise will be transferred to the new cruise. You may reschedule your cruise vacation to any alternative ship or sail date. No change fees will apply, and any payments already made towards the original cruise will be transferred to the new cruise. Please note, the prevailing rate of the new cruise will apply. Alternatively, you can choose to cancel your reservation and request a refund in the amount paid to MSC. If you purchased pre-paid shore excursions through My MSC for any port affected by these changes, you will be automatically refunded. The refund will be processed within two billing cycles. We thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to welcoming you aboard MSC Cruises!
  8. You won the jackpot too...4/14 is now 11 nights...departing on 4/7! It's going to the Caribbean.
  9. Sounds like you won and I got a booby prize (rerouted to Canada). They are still booking the 4/21 as a 7 day cruise; but now it's been changed to a 4/18 10 day trip. The rep at MSC saw the 4/21 and could book; the 4/21 isn't there yet. I just e-mailed my TA about booking the "actually non-existant yet bookable" 4/21. So disappointed.........
  10. I received a list showing all the changes to the Meraviglia. Because their IT dept is so "up to date"....nothing is reflected on their website yet. One cruise...a 7 day...was switched to a 10 day...departing a few days earlier. Of course the website still has the 7 day cruise available for booking. According to their letter, if you are booked on the 7 day, you get the 10 day at no additional cost. I'm wondering what would happen if I booked the 7 day (well, it's there and available). Would they honor the price.....
  11. I'm going to Canada in May???? I don't think so. I called MSC to see if I could change the 5/4 date to 4/18...and what the new price would be. Lo and behold (although I have the letter saying I could change without a problem) the rep started reading me the "30 day policy". I politely told him "apples and oranges" and hung up. The whole point of this trip was to repeat last month's...sitting at the pool deck, having freshly grilled fish....NOT bundled up in an overcoat walking around Canada
  12. Glad your DH likes it. We did YC ONLY because DH's health issues. He was really not at all enthusiastic (he's a DIY guy...the idea of a butler made him feel old and invalid). But being the great wife I am...I booked it anyway. He had the best time of his cruising life! I'd never do MSC outside the YC.......
  13. I've seen it in NYS....but not in NYC.... certainly not in Bensonhurst. Truth be told, I prefer meatball Parm heroes to "authentic Italian" food.
  14. Interesting article. Many times I do make decisions based on "bad reviews". But not on one review, it would have to be a trend about something important to me. My only "bad" cruise was when I had a fight with DH. So, nobody should sail on that ship, right, because I was in a bad mood!
  15. The only thing is storage....it was adequate for us, but we travel lite. DH and I loved that sailing. We're already booked for next year. Almost all the insides for the May 4, 2024 are gone...so book asap!
  16. We were on 16. No noise, and IMHO, the best location. The concierge desk is "right there", the Top Sail Lounge is "right there"....the dining room is one flight up and the pool deck two flights up. If you're too lazy for the stairs, the YC elevator is "right there" too.
  17. Yes...and MSC...which is Italian and servers Italian food is not like "Italian American".
  18. @blawmtI live in NYC...where we have a lot of genuine foreign/ethnic restaurants (maybe one staff member speaks English and often the menus aren't in English either) and these restaurants are generally in a neighborhood populated by that group. And then there are those "foreign/ethnic restaurants in the classy areas or tourist areas. I call them "Fill in the blank for tourists". If a meatball hero is as Italian as it gets...then it's "Italian for tourists". I actually wouldn't expect more on a Carnival ship. (Brings back memories of a falafel from the Carnival deli. No self respecting middle easterner would eat it!)
  19. I can see how "that kind of weather" could put a damper on any cruise. We cruise a lot; a friend just commented that "why don't you ever cruise during the summer". School's out.....that's why!
  20. Where is there the "secure luggage dropoff"?
  21. @graphicguyI just checked my account and I have no coupons for anything! No discounts....no incentives. (Off topic...so in parenthesis....Since I discovered MSC YC I don't see any reason to book NCL. The prices are great...imho...a total 10/10 experience.)
  22. I just looked at "NYC Roundtrip" fares....and wow, not for me, not at this time. When I book "that far ahead" it would have to be for a great deal...or something "tried and true".
  23. My thought: If you keep it "as is"....can you deal with the "pre-cruise anxiety"...and how about making travel plans etc? You're leaving yourself open to a lot of forseeable problems. I'd ask TA his opinion....maybe it wasn't a "mistake fare"...just a lucky day to book!
