HesterMofet Posted January 19, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 19, 2015 There was a thread discussing the announcement that RCI is going "announcement free" including the Captain's noon announcement. Let's show RCI how we feel!

cb at sea Posted January 19, 2015 #4 Share Posted January 19, 2015 NO announcements, unless there's an emergency. If I want to play Bingo, I'll FIND the game!
Proudmom1120 Posted January 19, 2015 #5 Share Posted January 19, 2015 My answer is not up there. NO ANNOUNCEMENTS. I realize some people enjoy them. There are some people who do have sensory issues, though. The announcements do affect their hearing and scare them. Anything they need to know is in writing. Ashland Posted January 19, 2015 #6 Share Posted January 19, 2015 I enjoy the Captains announcements...however hate when I have to open my cabin door to hear them...I'd like the option of being able to turn that dial and hear them in cabin when I want to. kelmac Posted January 19, 2015 #8 Share Posted January 19, 2015 Just like Celebrity! They have been doing the "once a day" announcements for years and it's really nice.:) I think the two RCI companies are finally learning from each other. Enjoy! Rare orville99 Posted January 19, 2015 #10 Share Posted January 19, 2015 Add another vote for the choice that's not there - NO ANNOUNCEMENTS. You probably want to re-do the poll to remove the bias. ;)
js Posted January 20, 2015 #11 Share Posted January 20, 2015 Im on my phone and cant see the poll but I an the minority, I love to hear the announcements. When we are in our cabin and someone starts talking on the speaker, I run to my door and open it so I can hear whats going on. Lets indicate how old we are, those that are pro announcements and those that are con announcements. Im 47 and love them. js

I just wish there were an optional way to hear those in one's cabin.
cindivan Posted January 20, 2015 #13 Share Posted January 20, 2015 We can read. Unless there is an emergency, we see no need for public announcements. Much of the time it's so distorted we can't understand it anyway. Sent from my iPad using Forums

Guest maddycat Posted January 20, 2015 #18 Share Posted January 20, 2015 I'm thrilled that RCI finally listened and stopped the constant announcements. However, I did always enjoy the captain's noon announcement. That is, when I could hear it. Many passengers would talk loudly during the noon announcement. At times, I wasn't near a speaker or the acoustics were poor. I'm fine with having the captain's announcement recorded and available on the in cabin TV. I can listen to it at my convenience. I find that the Captain and Cruise Director announcements can help set a tone for the cruise. The other stuff just feels like advertising. It also means no more "Bing Bong". :(

sleepless Posted January 20, 2015 #22 Share Posted January 20, 2015 Truthfully, after 5 cruises, I can honestly say that I have never been bothered by announcements. In fact, I really don't remember hearing many of them. So, my vote is that they don't bother me one way or another.
TubbyMrT Posted January 20, 2015 #23 Share Posted January 20, 2015 No announcements is missing from the choices. That would be my choice as I can never understand what they are saying anyway. It just amounts to noise.
