Offers received from Club Royale (Royal Caribbean)

About a month ago, Hubby earned a bonus interior certificate with the new 800-point promotion. Because we wanted to add onto our 2 April cruises on the Enchantment, he was able to use that certificate to book a 5-night cruise to Bermuda, which is fine with us. No celebrations for us, other than one of the weeks in April includes Easter Sunday and the fact that we will also be visiting our son before/after the cruises, since he lives in MD.

I  also earned a certificate on our last cruise, about 1 1/2 weeks ago. I remember seeing several Bermuda cruises (Enchantment) in the late spring and early summer, including May, and I believe, June on the list and in the online listing. We ended up using that certificate for a Liberty cruise in June out of Galveston, because we live only 4 hours or so south of that port.

That is an amazing deal!     Are you a prime or higher member?

I cannot wait to board Anthem in Jan to see if we receive a certificate.

I'm a Masters level player with Club Royale.

The deal does seem amazing. Perspective is everything.

Good luck in January on the Anthem!

I feel like I won the lottery.

One of my offers (comped JS or balcony on a bunch of sailings) was expiring today, and I really hated letting it go. Then, I saw that I'd had a new offer added. Both offers included sailings out of Cape Liberty.

I saw that for the 5-night Canada cruise on Adventure of the Seas that includes Memorial Day for which I had a comped JS offer actually did have one junior suite available. Then, I was able to use the other offer for a second 5-night cruise, this time to Bermuda.

Then, using FCCs that have been burning a hole in my pocket, I picked up a (paid-for) junior suite on the 4-night Canada sailing between the two comped sailings, and I was even able to get the same cabin for the first sailing. (The third sailing of this B2B2B is in a different JS.) Oh, and for some reason, the pricing ended up looking like this:

image_50.png.bd44bbc6294d942965f1321475208322.png

Hubby's never been to Bermuda, but I did once years ago (Hi, @RFerrington!). Neither of us have been to Halifax, so that'll be new. I grew up in Maine, but I've not seen Bar Harbor since 1980. It'll be neat to go there again.

The only money out of pocket for all three sailings are the taxes/fees and prepaid gratuities. So, if these sailings don't happen (or change my mind about them), I don't feel so bad. (I do wonder whether the FCCs would retain their original sailing date or be updated to the 5/31/22 sailing date to which they were applied.)

WOOHOO !  That is awesome, Marc.  We were able to B2B2B with Royal offers once.....but of course, those were all cancelled by the cruise line before the restart.  Our offers since have been loathesome.  Glad you lucked out !!

We have a doubly-comped-as-JS (then upgraded to GS) B2B booked on Symphony of the Seas in early March. I am hopeful that things will be markedly better by then.

We were supposed to be on a similarly-booked B2B on Oasis of the Seas, starting Labor Day week (her first return-to-service sailing), but my anxiety got way out of control, and we ended up bailing after the first week.

You're done your B2B2B before the 6/14 Adventure sailing, right? I was considering that, though that it's a 4-night mid-week cruise it'll probably be a pass, it was about the only promo offer that I haven't had some sort of conflict with that wasn't sailing out of Florida or Texas.

Hubby tested positive on the 1/9/22 sailing on Odyssey.  We are currently chilling out in our quarantine hotel, but I was hoping someone here might be able to answer a question.  We got a letter in our quarantine cabin on the last day that said we were getting an FCC for 100% price of the sailing.  We were actually booked on a comp, so am I to assume that we will be getting $0 and no replacement cruise? I thought maybe someone had had a 100% FCC for a cancelled cruise before and may know.

I will give them a call later today to ask about it.  We are supposed to be onboard now using our 2 annual tier offers 😞

It is ok.  We are chilling out at the Embassy Suites for a week or so.  We are trying to make the most of it and stay positive.  What sucks is that we had 2 cabins booked using our annual tiers comps on the 1/15 sailing and my sister, my son and his friend were supposed to be joining us.  I feel worse for them. At least we got a bit of a vacation.  Luckily we found out before they flew down.

Good to see that you are not defeated, and making the best of things 🙂  It would drive me crazy seeing those ships out my window knowing I was supposed to be on one. Were you able to get any information from Royal yet?

My wife and I booked a (casino) comp cruise the other day... a 4- nighter.

Comp was for an Interior, but we paid to upgrade to a JS.  Our first time "upgrading" a comp offer.

We had to pay in full at the time of booking.  Has this always been "a thing"?  Where if you use a comp offer, you need to pay in full - even if you upgrade?

Thank you!

Yes, this is the way it has always been. Upgrades to comp offers must paid in full at the time of booking.

I've not been able to figure out how comped cruises work in this regard, especially if they're upgraded. I've had two cruises that were comped then upgraded that ended up getting some sort of refund/FCC that seemed to be based on a price higher than I paid for the fare upgrade (not counting taxes, fees, gratuities, of course).

The first was a comped balcony upgraded to a grand suite. There were really, really minor things in the cabin (one faucet in the sink didn't flow as well as the other sink's, and one of the drawers in the cabin wasn't sliding properly). My friend who was traveling with me let the concierge know just as a maintenance item. The concierge expressed absolute shock at this, even though we both explained repeatedly that it was just FYI and it wasn't a problem for us at all. When we disembarked, he gave us FCC for 25% of our cruise fare. The strange thing is that the 25% was more than what we paid for the upgrade. It seemed that the 25% included some money paid by Club Royale for the cabin. I brought this up to Club Royale, but they weren't interested.

Second was a recent cruise. We were booked on a B2B in a comped junior suite upgraded to a grand suite. Due to the COVID situation and my anxiety, we had to bail on the second week during the first week. Royal Caribbean was so kind to give us a full refund. Similarly, the refund was more than the amount we paid for the upgrade for that second week. I contacted Crown & Anchor to let them know. They looked into it, admitted that they've never had a customer say that they got too much of a refund, said that the amount was correct, and that was that.

So, if I were to guess, there is some amount paid by Club Royale to Royal Caribbean's booking department, and that amount is available when figuring out FCCs and/or refunds. It's still magic, though.

We had the same kind of thing happen on our very last cruise before the pause.  We had an annual comp (interior) that we upgraded to a GS on Anthem.  That was the cruise that was cut short from an 8 day to a 5 day in Feb 2020.  They gave us a 100% FCC and a 100% refund in OBC (since this was the first "COVID casualty" they were being very generous, I guess !!).  I honestly cannot recall how much they gave us as OBC (we spent it all plus some in the casino !!) but the resulting FCC's calculated out to be MORE than the entire cruise fare for us.

Then, on the cruise JUST prior to that one, we were on Oasis in a Star Class upgrade (Dec 2019) from a comped cruise.  This was the first cruise for Oasis after the amplification.  The music coming from the pool deck was SOOOOO loud.  The Genie brought the cruise director to our suite to see for himself.  He was so embarrassed...and they immediately did something to tame it.  In the end, we were to receive a 20% FCC but they must have only based it on the cruise fare for the original comp (which was an interior) b/c it was NOWHERE NEAR the value of what we paid for the upgrade.

So we've had a mixed bag with FCC's on comped cruises.

I had one FCC experience that was less than satisfactory. I got norovirus and was quarantined for the last two days of the cruise. As part of that, Royal Caribbean gave me an FCC for 2/7 of the price we paid for my portion of the cruise.

Two issues I had with that:

  1. My husband stayed in the cabin with me (out of a combination of concern for me and also not wanting to spend a bunch of time outside where he might inadvertently spread something), but he didn't get any FCC because he wasn't quarantined. Honestly, that's pretty fair given that he could've gone out if he'd wanted, but he chose not to.
  2. Because it was a BOGO50 booking, and because my name was second on the booking, instead of getting half of 2/7 of the cruise fare we paid, I got 2/7 of the 50%-discounted cruise fare, so my FCC was reduced by a third of what I think would've been fair (even proportion of guests' individual fares).

The difference was only ~$150, so I gave up after inquiring to a supervisor about what was perceived to be unequal treatment based on booking order, but they wouldn't have any of that.

New offer today: 22EXO102 (comped JS/balcony Alaska sailings in May, comped balcony European sailings in May and June)

What caught my eye was this very flashy box I don't recall seeing before. I mean, I always do ask about upgrades (and usually go ahead and do so), but I was surprised to see them be so in-your-face about that.

We just sailed on the 11 nighter out of Anthem and was happy to see when we arrived in our cabin that DH received a cert for a JS for quite an extensive list of sailings up thru Sept or Oct 2022.

and I received a cert for a OV for same list of sailings.

I would love to do some of the europe sailings but still hesitant to book flights to Europe right now.

Looks like the sailings we like no longer have JS available.    Will call this week and see if we can combine my offer with his offer and upgrade to a GS for a 8 nighter to bermuda and perfect day or we will use his offer for a 5 night bermuda sailing and make it a b2b with 4 or 5 night canada sailing.

Hope to see more nice offers as DH got over 5000 points on this sailing and I was just over 1900 points.     We have a b2b in March where I should have no problem getting another 600 points to reach prime.           Will say No One was winning in the casino on this cruise.    Everyone was complaining about no wins, small or large.

We keep on getting casino offers from Royal that only go thru June'22, just different names for the offers. And many of the same sailings they already offered previously. On other lines, we've gotten offers up through 2023.

1.  Just got an offer for a complimentary inside on Wonder !  I am very surprised that they are offering casino comps for Wonder.

2.  Confirmed that the Club Royale status will be extended for another year....so your status will be good through 3-31-23.  This is awesome news for us since we will not sail at all this casino year.  Losing our Prime status would have been devastating.  Now we have another year !

1. Also got the complimentary Jr suite on Wonder. March 4, 18, 25 and April 1 and 8 only. No other dates offered to me.

2.Are you saying that you did not cruise for this entire 'casino year', April 1, 2021 - March 31, 2022?

But will still maintain previous years status? Thanks in advance for any clarity you can offer.
