Diamond Plus Loss of Benefits

Recommended Posts

Well, I see someone didn't find something else to do this weekend. ;)

As for the question a few pages back about who should have "priority" in the lounges? Here's my two cents:

DL - 1st come 1st served

CL - 1st come 1st served

SL - 1st come 1st served

Royal doesn't distinguish, why should we?

Spot on answer, right how it should be.

Now wait a Minute... isn´t this how it works already?;):D

RCI limits access at the door, so whoever is eligible to get in should be equally served, which brings us back to the above Statement.

Very clear cut and how it should be.

But what if it was full and suite guests could not find a seat?

?

It's not a problem, well maybe the first night. Anyway, they can open up a large lounge and do a combined event for all d and up. That way the CL is freed up for suite guest that are not d and up. I have seen this done 2 times over the past few years

Your question only applies to Concierge Lounges. Which, if I were a betting woman (which I am) will be slowly converted into Suite Lounges. But...I still stand by first come first served. It's simply not the horror show it's being made out to be - at least not on every cruise. And not every night for the entire 4 hours. I don't believe there are THAT many D+ hogging the CL's. And I think there are a lot of D+ (like us) that cruise in GS or above.

What about a roped off area for Suite guest like some lounges have for D members and above? A rope that can be moved to fit the dynamic of the lounge and seating for the suite guests?

Interesting idea, maybe you should run it by Royal instead of us. ;)

Just curious, this is obviously a hot button with you, how many times have you had a problem with this anyway? MJ doesn't have a lounge for Suites, Oasis has a SL with no pesky D+'s allowed (unless they are in a suite), and Enchantment rarely has a crowding issue in all my times on her.

Personally, I would never ask a guest to give up his seat. I may complain to staff if the Suites lounge has no available seats and there may be guests not in Suites. In all honesty, I have never frequented any of the DL or SL/CL lounge in the past. We typically like to hang other places. But from what I read here about how great they are, I am sure going to visit on my next cruise.

Who do you think should have priority seating in the SL? A D or D+ or a Suite guest?

I guess you will not see this reply since you Ignore list

Apparently, it has NEVER been a problem for him.

The only lounge I have ever visited that had exclusive seating was on Majesty. I think they call it the Viking Crown or something like that. It had a roped off area which I assume now may have been reserved for Diamond guest and above. We were not on a Suite on this cruise. Last minute booking as like you, we are close to PC (not as close as you and Bella).

Personally, we did sit around in lounges.... I would rather sit in the Casino during my spare time as long as the smoke doesn't get too bad.

We have 4 cruises booked on RCCL through Dec 2017 and looking to add another 2 in 2017, as work schedule permits. We woud like to do 4 cruises a year but they could be replaced with other options/travel.

Going forward, we are pretty much booking GS. The problem with Majesty is most all the suites including JS, are booked through the summer on the weekends we could go and after the OV on Majesty, don't like to use the NEVER word, but not likely to book anything other than something with a balcony. However, we like some of the perks that are currently available to suite guests. I have already reserved the PP drink packages for the two of us on out next three cruises, all in GS. Enchantment, Serenade, Allure.

I know on Oasis and I believe Allure, they hold seats for some events for Suite guests. We had no problem getting into the full comedy show on Oasis and many had tried several nights to get in. We just asked the Concierge to see if they could find us seats. Magic, we soon had a confirmation of seating for 2.

I didn't make an issue of the roped off area on Majesty, didn't attempt to enter. We were served in plenty of time in that lounge, outside the roped off area. I have family members we have traveled with a few times, and they always run off to the Diamond lounges around 5-6.... they do love their lounge time... most often they don't buy a drink package. We generally get a bottle of wine at the table but I will have a cocktail at dinner on my drink package....

You may never see my in the SL or CL, but as a Suite guest, I would hope RCCL would try to accommodate our seating if wish to have a drink or visit in the SL.

And a lot of us D+ that prefer the DL on many ships. ;)

On Freedom we only used the CL for morning Lattes (closer to our cabin) and to stop in

occasionally for an after dinner drink.

The Grandeur CL and DL are always packed, especially during cocktail hours. We usually use the Diamond Lounge in the evening and they have an overflow that takes up half the South Pacific Lounge. We only use the Concierge Lounge during the day for some peace and quiet to read, get coffee, a snack or talk with friends. Great views too. I don't really mind being kicked out of the Concierge Lounge. Just don't kick us out of the Diamond Lounge. It took us a long time to get there.

BTW....Diamond plus can still use the Concierge lounge as of a couple weeks ago.

OK, I've been reading / following this thread and have shaken my head quite a few times -- am I missing something?

I'm curious too. This is definitely a hot button for Troykahack, however if he has never frequented ANY the lounges why all the brouhaha over seats, etc.???

I'm guessing he has read about crowding and wants to make sure it's not an issue going forward

Yeah, I'm sure it is all about prevention of a perceived possible future issue. I can only hope that having a chair available to me that is located in a lounge that I never go into is the biggest concern I'll have to face when I cruise.

I agree...must be something.

Anyone can click on his screen name, then click on find posts, especially the early ones.

The rest will see why many of us have him on ignore. ;)

This from someone having been on only four RCI cruises, (three of them

short 3/4 night). I would not call that enough experience to rant and rave

making demands about seats in the lounge.

LOL!! :D

There are enough lounges all over the ship to blow our drink vouchers on anyway. :)

You guys make me laugh, in a good way. :)

If you are on the right class of ship (Oasis and Quantum) and in a suite you can drink in the SL from 11am to 11pm. I'd like to think that there should be no shortage of seats all day time in the SL. I can confirm in March on our B2B, in the middle of the day, there were a many seats avaiable. Heck, if you are in the right cabin they will bring the cocktail cart and make drinks in your cabin mid-afternoon. I'd like to think there would be no shortage of seats there.:p

I'm glad I travel with different lines... Too disappointing to reach a level and then have it taken from you. Might need to try NCL or Costa soon!

Betty

Been on Costa before....not impressed. Or was that the Titantic??!! ;)

BE the Titanic off the coast of Tuscany just a few years ago??

Happy we were not on that one. :(
