Geezzzz. This ship has made the news more than any other ship in recent times...and how old is the Anthem?

I was thinking the exact same thing (booked anyway lol).

Lor74: Thanks for posting, hope you feel better very quickly. Lots of people on CC are sending you positive energy :)

Today has been a total write off since around 10:30am. I have managed to hold down a single piece of dry bread, but my stomach has been tied in knots for so long, it is quite painful. We are still rocking, and the big shifts have me moaning in agony. After so many cruises, this is a first for me. We have had rough weather in the past, and I have had motion sickness before, but never like this. Ro has been more adventures than me, and has ventured out on a couple of occasions to get some food.....but she could not keep any down. At least she is not hurting. All this being said, I have been in a positive mood all day. It is what it is, and it will take a lot more to get me to not enjoy being on a ship! Will try to get some sleep now.

My friend and her husband are on this sailing. She just messaged me that they are doing ok but shows canceled and obviously not allowed on deck. 23 foot waves and 87 mile winds. Need to be careful walking on ship. they will be arriving in Bermuda two hours late as they sailed further to avoid worst of the storm. She did say they are still having fun!!

We have read all the news events about this ship also. She appears to be a little jinxed. However, I eventually booked a 9 day cruise to NE & CN next August. I'm keeping my fingers crossed she starts behaving.

Sorry for your discomfit. I was on that Grandeur cruise in March 2014 (my very first cruise) & I still got addicted to cruising. We had such heavy seas the jogging deck cracked. I've noticed temporary repairs have been made (the speed bump). I guess they'll fix it permanently next time in dry dock.

OP, so sorry you have to go through this. I'm sure it will get better soon. These ships can withstand a lot! Unfortunately we humans can't always do that. Hang in there.....

PTAngel...I was on that cruise too....here you go.....

This might not sound right but it works. If you can get some alcohol wipes open one up when you start to feel like your going to get sick. Take it and smell it with a few good breaths. It will reset the receptors in the brain and you won't get sick.

Hi Gwen. That was a fun trip. I didn't feel great after lunch on and slept from 7pm-7am and missed dinner. If I remember right, you were up in the Windjammer when the wave hit. We were just coming out of our cabin to go to lunch when we heard the loud bang and found out that it was the wave that caused the twisting of railing and deck 10 that made that crack. That was the heaviest seas we've been in. We were never scared, but a lot of us were nauseous. We're back on GR on Oct 31.

The Internet package has already been paid for by the office (20% off advanced purchase) so I will probably do some live reporting from the ship. This will only be our (Lor & Ro) 2nd RCCL cruise, after the Allure last year. We originally had the NCL Getaway booked for October, but some unforeseen scheduling conflicts came up at work, and we had to cancel. Thankfully it was before final payment, and I was able to transfer my flight for my January trip. The Anthem seemed like a good replacement, as the price was right, and we could drive down from Montreal.

We left at 6am this morning. The drive went very smooth (except for the back spasms), and we arrived at our destination around noon.

We are spending the night at the Courtyard Marriott Edgewater. This hotel is newish, and the address will not even show on the map. It is on the NJ side of river facing Manhattan. They offer free parking, wifi, and shuttle service to the ferry. I booked the night by using 25,000 Marriott points. We will be coming back here for a night after the cruise as well. That night is via a free room certificate. I highly recommend the Marriott Visa card for anyone who can take advantage of hotel points. You can get up to 80,000 bonus points for the US card, and 50,000 points in Canada.

After dropping off our luggage, we drove to the Newport Mall in Jersey City. It took less than 30 minutes to get there. The GPS in my Altima worked beautifully today! We were both starving at this point, and went to the Cheesecake Factory. This meal did not go well! Ro ordered eggplant parm, and I got a burger and fries. I should mention, that I have been on a path to better health, and had not had a burger or fries since our last cruise in January! If anyone happened to follow any of my previous "live froms", I am now down 80lbs [emoji106]🏻. I had ordered my burger medium. When our food arrived, I cut it down the middle, and it was barely medium rare. I sent it back. It took around 10 minutes for another plate to arrive, and it was the same burger, which was now a piece of leather. That went back and I awaited a new burger. During this time Ro is very slowly eating her food, while waiting for me to actually have something in front of me. It took so long for the 3rd attempt, that I got very frustrated and asked for a manager. He was very apologetic, and besides not charging us, asked what he could do for us. Ro got a fresh bowl of pasta, and by the time my burger came back, it had been 30 minutes from the time the original order came to the table. This new burger was still more medium rare than medium, but I ate and enjoyed it as much I could under the circumstances. We left without any cheesecake [emoji22], and did some shopping before heading back to the hotel.

It has been a very long day, and we are in for the night. With Hermine, we have no clue what to expect from this cruise...besides rough seas. I can only hope for the best!

Hope you get some sleep and can enjoy Bermuda tomorrow. Starting to really rock again. I hope this doesn't make it later than noon getting into port. The captain has really been great keeping us informed. The two videos he recorded really detailed what he planned and what the storm actually did.

Use cell phone playlist on low. It will help to distact, calm, focus to sleep. Do Not Put Phone under pillow.

Please make sure your hydrating.

Hope you get out of the worst soon. I bet that channel will be a sight for sore eyes tomorrow. Be safe.

We were just on the Anthem - 5 days to Bermuda - cruise left Bayonne Aug. 20. Second day in Bermuda lots of rain. And they were expecting some rough weather conditions to follow after we left. We have cruised the Caribbean during "hurricane" season including Oasis a few years back at end of August. We were very fortunate and had great weather then. Someone I know has posted they are just off the Oasis and had beautiful weather - in their part of the Caribbean. I am sorry for those who are on the Anthem right now - that they cannot enjoy this beautiful ship. The Captain and crew of the Anthem are great. The bridge technology is state of the art. The weather cannot be controlled. But we can chose when we want to go on a cruise. We all take chances cruising during Hurricane season.

Good morning. I hope you are feeling better today. Just finished watching you on ABC morning news. Someone named Derek Biederman sent in a clip to the news or perhaps posted it on You Tube. I watched the clips and the seas looked crazy. I hope it is calmer today. Just checked the Bermuda webcam and I see the NCL Dawn in port, but it is too dark to see the water. Looks like you are about an hour or two away from docking. We all wish you the best and hope the day in Bermuda is pleasant. :):):)
