CanobieFan Posted January 17, 2017 #3 Share Posted January 17, 2017 From my limited experience, I'd say Freedom of the Seas. But we'll see how I feel about that next week when I get off Harmony :D
Shmoo here Posted January 17, 2017 #4 Share Posted January 17, 2017 Whichever I'm fortunate enough to be cruising on. This would have to be my response, also. :) But, if I had to choose a specific ship - Disney Magic.

GUT2407 Posted January 17, 2017 #6 Share Posted January 17, 2017 Easy, for me Pacific Princess. Not a fan of the massive things they use now.
leaveitallbehind Posted January 17, 2017 #7 Share Posted January 17, 2017 We like different ships for different reasons and the itinerary plays a big part in the choice as well. That being said one of our favorite ship classes is RCI Freedom class. We also like Oasis class. Actually there are very few we don't like......:)
navybankerteacher Posted January 17, 2017 #8 Share Posted January 17, 2017 Any ship with fewer than 2,000 passengers is likely to be better in my eyes than one carrying more --- and immeasurably better than one carrying more than 3,000.

Rare mom says Posted January 17, 2017 #10 Share Posted January 17, 2017 Probably QM2. But Disney Wonder comes a close second. I don't like the really big ships either.
leaveitallbehind Posted January 17, 2017 #11 Share Posted January 17, 2017 (edited) What is it you dislike about larger ships? Do they get too crowded? Our experience with RCI and their larger ships is that with the added venues and public spaces, the largest of their ships - Oasis class with 5,600+ passengers - are less crowded overall in the venues and "feel" around ship than some of the smaller ships. While they may carry more passengers the ships are also significantly larger as well. Edited January 17, 2017 by leaveitallbehind
Rare geoherb Posted January 17, 2017 #12 Share Posted January 17, 2017 The Ruby Princess was my favorite ship so far. We've sailed on 11 Princess ships, two Carnival, one NCL, three Holland America, and two Royal Caribbean.

Probably only a QE2 suite can get any better.:D Burt

Do cruise ships still have rooms with bunk beds? Edited January 17, 2017 by BoiiMcFly

We were in the third class and had a small room with bunk beds. Do cruise ships still have rooms with bunk beds? Not that I am aware of. The main beds are singles that go together to form a king. Often there is a convertible couch as well. Additional beds in the same stateroom can be murphy beds. Family staterooms along with the standard beds and convertible couch can have a smaller bunk room with a lower single and murphy bed that when opened are on top of each other similar to a bunk bed. Family suites can have a master bedroom and a second bedroom with two lower singles and two murphy beds in lower / upper configuration. Rare Hlitner Posted January 17, 2017 #16 Share Posted January 17, 2017 For us, if would be a smaller vessel (fewer then 800 passengers) for a multi-month cruise. We have cruised on all size boats/ships ranging from 20 passenger to nearly 4000 and enjoyed every cruise. But small ships offer a kind of intimacy we enjoy. One thing all the ultra luxury cruise lines (i.e. Seabourn, Silverseas, Sea Dream, etc) have in common is that use relatively small ships. Crystal is one of the few ultra luxury lines operating larger ships....which in their case means about 1,000 passengers. Hank
lenquixote66 Posted January 18, 2017 #17 Share Posted January 18, 2017 Celebrity Silhouette is my all time favorite I also liked Grandeur (RCI) ,Volendam (HAL)and Ambassador (Cunard)
Ashland Posted January 18, 2017 #18 Share Posted January 18, 2017 I would normally say the RCI Radiance, Oasis or Freedom class but after sailing on the Voyager class recently this would be now. Will be on Harmony in March so we'll see how I feel then.
JimAOk1945 Posted January 18, 2017 #19 Share Posted January 18, 2017 (edited) Our new favorite is the Holland America Maasdam. We took our first HAL cruise last August for the unique 14 day Great Land Alaska itinerary. We loved the size and overall experience of being on a smaller ship. We will definitely cruise with HAL again! Edited January 18, 2017 by JimAOk1945
Rare cruisemom42 Posted January 18, 2017 #20 Share Posted January 18, 2017 Speaking of smaller ships, my current favorite is the 350-passenger Aegean Odyssey, only ship of the Voyages to Antiquity line. I've been on her 6 times so far, with another cruise booked this April. :D
