What was your upgrade offer and what did you bid

Word to the wise (not me). I made upgrade bids and sort of forgot about them, and was going to go in and change amounts (lower/delete some of them) this week. I sail April 13 to Bermuda on Dawn.

They just accepted my offer. For an aft suite. The crappy thing is, this was one of the amounts I meant to change to lessen, and now I'm paying way too much (it's not a deal). I can't believe they accepted the bid this early. It's my guess the room wasn't sold and they went in early to the advantage bidders and found a stupid bid (basically mine).

I'm thinking I might try to call and see if there is any chance they will give me another perk for basically paying the same as I would with a new res, but I highly doubt it.

How. Dumb. Am. I.

But I certainly didn't expect they would do the Advantage bid acceptance 2.5 weeks out! Darn it!

Wow! Yes, they will accept a bid if it is higher than the current rate VERY QUICKLY.

Try to reason with them.

Is it correct if you bid and change to a Haven cabin/suite you lose your current perks and don't receive the perks that typically come with a Haven cabin (which is everything that is offered), or any for that matter?

We're in a balcony on a future cruise, and are getting UBP and free daily service charge. IF we receive the invitation, and IF it was accepted, does that mean we would no longer get UBP and need to pay the daily service charge (at the higher Haven rate)? ... even though a person booking a Haven cabin/suite on the website would get every perk offered on that day ( no matter how close to sailing).

Would REALLY like to hear from one of you who have sailed in a Haven cabin/suite after changing through the bid process, if possible, rather than just a reference to the fine print. We all know what happens in real life on ship can be different that what "it" (whatever "it"is) says.

You keep the perks you got when you originally booked - you do not get any new perks

The haven gratuities are more than a standard cabin - so this may have an impact - but very much doubt it

In our case, they accepted our low-blow bid (a mere $5 per person over the minimum bid) - 32 days before sailing, which surprised me. It was a long way out and they weren't getting much. I was happy as a clam. I thought maybe the sailing was pretty empty but on board (the Dawn) it was as crowded as we've ever seen a ship.

I'm not really sure what their rhyme or reason is for this bidding thing...? But I was happy with it!

Good luck to each of you - this has sure been an interesting read across the months.

I hope it's NOT on deck 8.

If you really want a suite type, why wait and bid on it----because maybe a yes or maybe a no. I'd just book it fro the start that you won't be disappointed and you get what you want.

I bid on an SJ on the Dawn but didn't want to pay the price to book it outright. I booked a balcony and bid on an SJ. I'll be happy with my balcony if my bid isn't accepted. I'm doing it for the "fun of it" because I'm willing to spend a little bit more, but not $2,500 more!

For Bermuda the Dawn is an old tired run. Absolutely correct on the noise on deck 8, usually past 2am and yes I have experienced it. (not an issue). Last 2 years, the Dawn has been one consistent late booking bargain. I've never failed to pick up give away rates and expect the same again this season for my usual couple cruises. Best bonus is Bermuda is a very low cost touring itinerary. Even better now, with NCL's free St. George ferry- with a day with no costs for me. :) Wow- jackpot.

I didn't realize there was a free ferry to St. George! How is it?

Also, do you think I stand a chance at having my owner's suite bid accepted? :) Last year my "poor" bid on a 2-br Family Suite was accepted much to my surprise.

Your chances would depend on the number of suites available.

I hope it's NOT on deck 8.

Yup. It makes me even more disappointed. I would have never chosen this cabin on 8 even paying for the full amount under normal booking. I totally feel stupid and bamboozled. Just two days before I'd gotten another spammy upgrade lottery email, so figured I had time to re-bid. Nope. Next year I'll know better.

Anyway. It's nice it's aft. And we'll bring earplugs--hopefully my mother will be able to sleep. We've never been to Bermuda, so I have no idea how restless things get on board whist docked. :loudcry:

Don’t be disappointed, you just as easily could have gotten noisy neighbors, kids running above you at all hours, you never know. Enjoy the perks and the aft views, you will have a great time!

Thank you for your encouraging reply, Rileyz! We really did love having an aft, so I'm looking forward to having one in Bermuda as opposed to the one we had on the transatlantic last April! Hopefully I'll be able to convince the CSR person, when I call, to throw me some onboard credit to assuage my silly feelings about my mistake. (yn)

Does the ferry also go to Hamilton for free?

Dude, Thanks! I appreciate the positive thoughts! I'm looking forward to getting away from the snow, and figured it was a good place where my less mobile mother can still enjoy herself and still get plenty of casino time in.
