He’s not a big fan of a meat pie, more of a sweet tooth than savoury, but he does like the insides of a sausage roll or vanilla slice.

He might be a gluten free doggie.

My Veterinary  student grand daughter tells me there is such a creature as a coeliac mutt.  That is sad news.

Pie Time

The New South Wales Southern Highlands have once again transformed into the "pie-lands", as bakeries, cafes and restaurants cook up filling fare for the region's award-winning pie festival.

One day I’ll get to it, maybe, Ouse even better than a cruise.

I was interested until I saw that Heatherbrae's in Sutton Forest claimed first place with its steak mince pie, which also won for them Best Pie in the Southern Highlands. I just lost all credibility for me and can tell you that there are plenty of better pies that Heatherbraes.

But they win with the one they enter in the competition. It may be quite different from the pies they produce in commercial quantities. 😊

True, but unless they are selling the award winning pie, then I still will not buy any.

Ok cruising gourmets, time we organised a pie crawl.

Another best pies in Australia list for us to sample. Overall winner is a caramelised pork and pepper pie. From lovely Kyneton inVic

Even better for Uncle Les, it is gluten free. Jo Jo’s in Kernot, down Phillip Island way, picked up a couple of awards for gluten free goodies.

I have read that for photographs of food for cook books or magazines, the food is always cold.

Not always but frequently, a few reasons

1. Steam

2. Consistency (you may take hours shooting just one dish for some shoots).
