Quick question about what rooms can I expect to be allowed to bid on. I’m currently booked in a Neighborhood Balcony Guarantee room on the Allure OTS for our end of February cruise. I figure we would be given an opportunity for an OV Balcony and a JS, but I was hoping we might also get a chance at a GS. Anyone with history with RoyalUp coming from this stateroom category on an Oasis class ship?

No, you should be limited up to JS.

Yes, this is exactly what our best biddable room was on Harmony. We had a neighbourhood balcony (although not a GTY) and the four options offered to us were Oceanview Balcony, Spacious Ocean View Balcony, Ultra Spacious Ocean View with Large Balcony, and Junior Suite.

We did not bid as we were travelling with another couple and did not want to risk the chance of one of us winning and the other not.

We are sailing Jan 29 2022 on the Odyssey, are in a balcony room, never have done a Royal Up option before. I understand every sailing is different, however does anyone have a guideline or share what they bid and if it was accepted upgrading to a JS or higher suite? Thank you

There is really no guideline. It’s purely an algorithm that is based on availability, bids received and a touch of voodoo magic.

Some rules of thumb I seen talked about is the 30% rule. Take the price difference between your category room and where you are upgrading to, get 30% of that number. Offer that. I don’t know or can’t speak of the success rate for this.

Well, with this information, I decided to pay for an "upgrade" the old fashion way, via my TA. I was able to move from a GTY Neighborhood Balcony to a GTY Oceanview Balcony on the Allure of the Seas for only $182.00, but now I definitely have a nice ocean view from my balcony and the option to bid for a GS with Royal Up. I think I still did pretty darn well with this booking. GTY Ocean View Balcony for $1,165.26, Feb 27th Allure OTS, 6 Night, with 245 OBC. (100 from WoW sale due to my new reprice, 45 from my TA, and 100.00 from playing my silly myVegas phone slot app via Casino Royale for free)

Excellent! Glad I was able to help. Fingers crossed you're lucky with your bid.

Just received a Royal Up to a Junior Suite on Symphony for Saturday (Oct 30). Instructions say to reprint Set Sail and luggage tags. Set Sail has been updated but luggage tags have not. Is this something that updates overnight?

I know I can just get the correct room on tags at luggage drop-off on Saturday, but I have a (severe) psychological condition which mandates that everything be as perfect as possible for my cruise book that I assemble afterwards!😜

Thanks -

Jerry

Give Royal a call, maybe they can get the luggage tags rebuilt for you? Perhaps? We don't want this luggage tag situation drive you to jump off the pier.

Thanks for the reply.  My card has been charged, and the app has not changed. I'll give it until tomorrow and call again.  Maybe they'll upgrade me to a GS at the port...  Wishful thinking,I know!

Do you mind if I ask, what cabin grade did you upgrade from to the JS and what was your bid?

Thanks Binro . . . Called RCCL and they said they would issue new docs for me with updated luggage tags. 24-48 hours! We’ll see! Not on suicide watch yet. 😎

We just received a RoyalUp email for our Nov 6th Symphony cruise (11 days from now). The min bids for Royal Loft and Ultimate Family suites is $5000pp.  We will stay with our junior suite and use the $10000+ at the casino.

LOL. That a crazy min bid.

My guess is they already have a locked bid on an upgrade domino chain that in order for a bid from a JS to supplant that chain would need to minimally bid 5k to get the room. So close to sailing, I'm sure there is are 2 people sitting with those rooms in a pending locked state. Hoping beyond hope that no one decides to bid on that 5k min and cause them to be kicked them from that room.

Since the supply of these 2 cabins are so scarce, Any bids from others where the min might have been lower but they bid the max, now makes new players in the game have a much higher max.

In the eyes of Royal Up, there is no such thing as a B2B. You could win your bid for one, both or neither of your B2B legs and if you do win either or both there is no guarantee that the rooms would be anywhere near each other.

In this particular case, I reckon you're better sticking to the cabins you chose originally.

we have booked a B2B on same ship in same cabin - how does it work for the royal up?  Does it do both at the same time as we dont want to have to move cabins during the changeover day.

No...each leg is separate. I have never heard of anyone that has won for both legs keeping them in the same cabin.

Question is probably asked in this thread, but couldn’t find anything. Royal Up offer for a cabin category that royal and third party sites are showing no inventory available?  Is that expected, or should we look at category that is available?

Also, they use Royal Up bids as market research, figuring out what people are willing to pay for certain categories.

Yes, Royal Up offers are made regardless of current available inventory.

Thanks. It’s interesting they are offering category that isn’t available and not offering category that they do have inventory.

@borg1of2Yes.  The will come available because people will cancel and people already in that category can be upgraded.

Our sailing is only 1 week away. Doubt there will be too much canceling at this point.

Good point.

another question. Are they doing pier upgrades these days?

I have gotten an offer to upgrade on my last two sailings.  Am I the only one that thinks the prices are crazy?  I have a GS on Anthem and the lowest bid to go to the next category is $500 pp for a GS with larger balcony. That’s $1000 more than I’m paying to get a little more balcony.
