What is the standard tip for the bartender in the D lounge?

Recommended Posts

We tip $1 a drink.  We also tip as we go because we might not see the same server again.  Also when we use the free drinks at bars, I will also tip a $1 a drink.

You can make change in the casino or guest services. I do this so I dont have to fly with a bunch of $1 bills.

Tipping on cruises is generally done on the last night....you aren't supposed to have to carry cash around with you.  But, if you want to tip "as you go", $1 per order is fine.  Not "per drink", so order for both of you .

So what happens if you don't see the server that's been waiting on you all week in the D+ lounge the last night? Too bad for them?

Thank you all for your input.  Since this was the first cruise as D, and it was a short one, we only went 3 nights for a couple drinks each.

We we ended up giving $20 at the end, which seemed appropriate for the 6 or 8 drinks total we had.

The bartender was was very appreciative

If you ever worked as a waitress/bartender a $1 per drink is greatly appreciated.  If I couldn't afford it I would stay home or not drink.  Most cruisers we know tip as we go.  We are not old school.

Totally agree, can not always find your favorite bartenders and waiters on last night . Not that hard to just carry some singles.

We always tip a minimum of $1.00 per drink in the lounge.  If the service is stellar, we will tip more.  We do tip as the drink is served because there are various servers in the lounge.  They are always appreciative of cash tips and they very much earn them.  Those lounges are hoppin!

We are veterans of over 30 cruises. Up until recently, we always tipped $1 per drink no matter if it was Diamond lounge or any bar.

Recently, I have felt that on  all of the cruise lines that we travel, service has declined.

We now tip for each drink only if it is a bar that we frequent often,  or if the bartender is exceptionally good.

On our last two RCCL cruises, the Rhapsody and the Adventure, there has been a tip jar at the drink station in the DL/CL.  I usually tip mid week and the last night.  My husband drinks diet coke, and I have a mixed alcohol drink, usually a manhattan.  I tip $20 - $30 over a week, which is for 14 drinks for me, and 7-14 diet cokes for Mr. Pcur.

In my opinion the effort is the same whether I am paying for the drink itself, and the staff work very, very hard.

Then there is the Jed Clampett tip "Plant your corn early this year."

:classic_laugh:

And "Don't smoke in bed".

And the rarely heard tip "don't buy any oil wells in Vermont".

I carry singles as does my husband so we can cash tip our lounge servers. We give at least 2 dollars per drink nightly as on the ships with many servers - and crowded lounges, we may not have the same person each night.

Actually,  I slip their money into an envelope with their name on it and trust the Concierge will see that they get it.

We tip our favourite Diamond waiter/bartender approx $20 at the start and end of the cruise. I can't be bothered carrying singles, and tipping at the start of the cruise ensures we always have the same staff member.

Edited to add - I seem to always be on cruises which have a Diamond lounge overflow so numerous waitstaff.

Agree.  We tip $1 per drink each and every drink.
