Not going to need a nursing home. We'll pay for in house care if needed. 😜 Living wills and trusts in place. Received leather luggage tag holders from Celebrity years ago. Still use them. And we have all the paperwork in place also. Good for all of us, huh?
navybankerteacher Posted July 21, 2019 #28 Share Posted July 21, 2019 Most of it isn’t worth bringing home - I have a bunch of Delft tiles from HAL I put together with miscellaneous others of the same size embedded on a side table on out deck - and I still use a Mag lite from HAL from back when they gave more than key chains and pens.as trivia prizes. julie3fan Posted July 21, 2019 #32 Share Posted July 21, 2019 I've never gotten any swag on a ship, other than the blue Princess bags everybody gets. Now the swag that's given away at NASCAR races! Prolific amounts of can coozies, pens, fridge magnets, chip clips, etc. The best from there would have to be the blow up chair that we gave to our nephew's son, who still uses it for playing video games in. And a really nice Snap-On flashlight that DH snatched right out of my hands the second I got it. Actually, probably the best was a business card inviting you to take a brief survey for a Las Vegas casino, and the reward was a one night stay at the hotel. They did that several years in a row, and we used those rooms many times. (We live 200 miles from Vegas and need to over night there occassionally, so that saved us a lot of money!) Since I got this OT, I won't go into any more detail, but I hope you'll do some research and find out that you're missing a ton of info. There usually comes a time where you need 'attention' 24/7 with skilled personnel. Your family won't be able to do it and if they try they will become prisoners, never being able to go on a vacation, etc. We and others we know have lived with this. I won't say another word. evandbob Posted July 21, 2019 #34 Share Posted July 21, 2019 I've entered many slot tournaments and all I've ever gotten was a few tee shirts. BooHoo 😪😪 I'd rather this: 🤑🤑🤑

Julie MacCoy Posted July 21, 2019 #36 Share Posted July 21, 2019 I really like the two NCL address books that I won. That's how I keep track of my usernames and passwords. I also like my NCL mug. It's the perfect size.

I said "we would visit"... We certainly have done our research and have "everything in place". I have quite a bit of experience dealing with aging parents and end of life needs and all that encompasses ... I had great role models in how to be prepared. However thanks for your input. A Carnival Mexican Riviera tee shirt? A Holland America sweatshirt? An NCL key chain? A Princess lanyard? How much does it cost thrift shops to have the stuff that doesn't sell hauled away? Thrift shops have to sell unwanted clothes in bulk, some of it goes to developing countries. Instead of supporting their own country's economy, people wear free tee shirts that say things like "Snodgrass Family Reunion, 2015" or "Breast Cancer Awareness Run Hoboken". Just don't take the stuff in the first place. (This is directed at you, too, dear, although you won't read it.) I saw a fascinating documentary about waste where they showed the behind the scenes of a clothes donation organisation and the manager was saying that about 40% of donations have to be thrown away because the clothes do not pass the durability test (they showed the machines they use to test the clothes) and she said the number of reject clothes is growing because of throw away fashion and the subsequent declining quality of clothes☹️. She said it is costly to get rid of reject clothes and they would rather it wasn't donated in the first place😰. On top of that the polyester clothing that end up in garbage tip break down into micro plastics and then end up in our food system. We end up eating our clothes😂! It would be better if cruise ships just stopped making the stuff or at least make better quality stuff😜.
