I see this listed as a Diamond perk and was wondering about the specifics. Is it served in The Diamond Lounge or The Dining Room How do you rate it compared to breakfast in The Dining Room which is where I almost always have breakfast

Thank you in advance.

We've only had it on Grandeur and Vision.  As Bob said above, not on all ships and definitely not on large ships.

So not on Symphony?  What kind of breakfast is served in the Diamond Lounge?    We are new to Diamond.

There was a separate area in the MDR on Indy in May. Same menu as everyone else or you could use the buffet set up in the dining room. You could just walk in without waiting in line, lots of tables for 2 and the same wait staff every day.

Symphony had a continental breakfast each morning in the Diamond lounge on deck 4, for a couple of hours and specialty coffee machine open all day.

Happy Hour with drinks and hors D'oeuvres for 3 hours in the evening.

The dining room (daily breakfast for all guests) on Symphony had a great breakfast and you can enjoy a la carte specialty items (amazing french toast, etc) along with the buffet and made to order eggs, etc.

We loved Symphony so much we are headed back in a couple of months! 🙂

I've never had any luck getting a specialty coffee in the MDR diamond breakfast section. When asked, the waitstaff have invariably said they were sorry, but the coffee machine was out of order for the MDR. I don't know if it was a big hassle for them to do a latte or cappuccino for the diamond section or something, but there must have been a coffee machine working somewhere, because other guests in the regular dining section were getting them ...

Hey, it's a perk they offer so why not use it?  It's not like anyone forced the MDR to do it.   It's a reserved area where we can basically walk right in and get seated and have the same waitstaff every morning. We prefer the MDR for breakfast, much more than the WJ so we utilize the perk.

When we sailed Symphony in February there were 2 lines for breakfast in the MDR--one for buffet and the other for menu.  We were told if you elected buffet you were not allowed to order from the menu.  However, if you selected menu, you were allowed to also utilize the buffet.

Yes we had the same thing. They asked at the front which service you would prefer. They would then seat you in the appropriate area of the dining room 🙂

Is breakfast in the Grandeur's MDR open seating or can you request a two top?

Um, both. It's open in that no assigned seats, but they'll usually ask if you want to share.  Just say no, you want a two top.
