OBC Non-transferable?

I hope this is not a stupid question - but I was just on online chat with Princess and they told me I have OBC and then my husband has a different amount of OBC. I was then told it is non-transferable. I should have asked my question then, but it didn't dawn on me till after I got offline. Does that mean if I get us both drink packages on board that my husbands OBC can only cover his package and my OBC can only cover mine? Together we would have enough to cover both, but separately I do not have enough to cover mine, and he has more than enough. Hope that makes sense LOL

Ok - Thanks! I thought that but after she said non-transferable it made me think I might be mistaken.

I always have more than my wife as I submit the shareholder OBC request and they credit it to my account. Never a problem. One big (or not so big) pile of credit they whittle away at during the course of the cruise.

Even if the OBC credit for each person is on one account they break the charges on the OBC for each person out separately.

For example if the wife does not have OBC left but the husband does, and she has further charges it does not come from his OBC but is charged to the credit card. I found this out when using non-refundable OBC.

Never has with us, it has always just shown up as OBC and credit balance has reduced as we used it,.

I will be interested to see if it’s the same come December or if something has changed.

Did they say non-transferrable or non-refundable?  If both are on the same account, they basically share the OBC.  I get military OBC and the shareholder OBC, so my OBC is greater than my wife's.  But the total OBC for us is the combined amount.

Most OBC is non-refundable.  Military OBC is refundable.  Princess pulls from the non-refundable OBC first and then the refundable OBC.  If we don't use all our OBC, we get whatever is left of the military OBC amount.

We got off the Crown Princess yesterday. I had both of our accounts being charged to my credit card. I ended up with some OBC left over but DH's account used that up. I could see both accounts when I logged in. He could only see his.

That is great to know! My husband got the military OBC. I re-read the call transcript and she said "non-transferable".  We are on same account and using same credit card, so sounds like it will all work out by end of cruise. Thanks!

Maybe "non-transferable" means you can't carry the OBC over to the next cruise you take.

???

That is definitely a no-no.

Use it or lose it. So, if you have non-refundable OBC and it's close to the end of the cruise...go to the casino, buy something in one of the stores, do a specialty dinner. Lots of things to spend on which to spend that funny money.

This also happened to me.  After booking our excursions on line with our non refundable OBC, my husband and I had $40 each left.  I wanted to pre purchase the special internet package for $75 to use it up.  When I called Princess said we could not combine our OBC until we were on the ship but said she would make a note on our account that when we boarded we could get it for this price.

Of course when we boarded the price was now $99 and they said they had no record of us trying to pre purchase.  We explained the situation to customer service and they very nicely charged us the $99 with a $25 credit.

Non-transferable simple means you can't "gift it" to someone else. You can't give your OBC to a friend, your son, your mother-in-law, etc. People ask if they can share with those who are sailing with them and the answer is, "No".

I was just off the phone with Princess excursions. We both have OBC, but I have $100  more than DW because they do not split up the shareholder OBC even though it is in both of our names.

I booked for us a trip back to Heathrow via Stonehenge. We did not quite have enough OBC, so I knew I would have to put some on the credit card, but she would not let me share some of my OBC to DW, so I had to pay more, but will have a small amount of OBC left on my account. I did confirm that once onboard, it could be used by her even though it was "my" OBC.

I said that they had allowed this sharing in the past. Her reply was it was only recently that they allowed you to use OBC in advance for the purpose of booking excursions.
