Ocean Medallion Questions - Part 2

Can a small hole be drilled in the medallion so a jewelry loop can be inserted?  Then the medallion could be worn on a chain necklace like a jewelry medallion.

Obviously not like a gold piece but better than a lanyard?

There are aome really nice and/or cute lanyards for sale on shopping websites too.

I think drilling a hole in it would render it inoperable. You could probably glue something to the back of it to allow for that.

Personally I remove the Blue Princess cardboard insert, then it's just a clear plastic case, I have a variety of lanyards from conferences I've used, one with a retractable connector, so I can pull it up to a few feet away 🙂

Take a piece of silver wire. Give it a twist and have tails on it in the form of a V Then glue it on the back with ShooeGoo This is a used medallion that I took the plastic on the back of it off so it would stay on the fridge better.

As for a chain. I recommend one that is about 30 inches. So you do not have to lean so far forward to scan it.

The necklaces one is $44.00 silver or gold.

I wonder how many people spend that amount for something they'll probably only use a time or two. I didn't see that many people on our last trip.

If I were a Princess only cruiser it would probably be a good investment, lol.  Since this is our 1st and possibly only cruise, I don't think I want to spend that much for 1 person.  But to each their own.

Our first medallion cruise is coming up in 3 weeks and I have been receiving emails to download the app. We do not have i-phones. Will we be given a medallion to open the cabin door and make purchases on board without owning an iphone? I'm not interested in the other app features as I can use the internet cafe to access our ship account, etc.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

You'll be fine.  Just complete your Personalizer, print your boarding passes bring your passports and check in same as before.  Instead of getting cruise cards, you'll get medallions instead.  Then it's onto the ship.

Do you have a smart phone (android)? That's what I have & was able to download the app.

No we don't. Our mobile phone is from the dinosaur age 😧

Not to worry. My wife has the iPhone but we never used it only to check on your bill. You can get a print out any tome at the help desk. We used the medallion when getting to the terminal. very fast. Remember to ave your passports with you also. They will want to see them. Using the medallion on the ship was great. For bingo, slots, drinks etc. also any store purchases.

Use the ShoeGoo. It will hold it for ever. great glue for this. It also re-glues the soles on the shoes real good. I had it to glue back on the bottom of the sneakers. Not coming off again. Plus it is clear. Dries like silicone.

The “Ocean Concierge“ page on the MedallionClass™ app has a ”plan your stateroom breakfast“ button. For those of you who have tried it: Does it work well?

(We’re cruising on the Regal on March 8. I can’t wait.)

Never sailed with the Medallion but have used the feature with Princess@Sea on other ships. Ordered breakfast for the stateroom and added what we wanted. It was delivered just fine. I don't remember what we ordered but did it a couple of times and didn't stick with the offerings. We added something but can't remember what. No reason it shouldn't work the same with the Medallion. It's not like room service breakfast is anything new. We used to add extra stuff to the hang tag that wasn't pre-printed and always got what we requested.

Just off the Regal.  We used it for coffee and fruit, cereal, juices and pastry every morning.  You pick a 1/2 hour time slot for delivery.  It worked just the same as the door hanger.  As a matter of fact, the door hanger is still left on your desk in case you prefer to order from the form instead.

Enjoy your cruise!

In a Facebook Group that I follow, there is some talk about other passenger's charges showing up on their account, because of the medallion.  Is this really an issue with the medallion?

We're looking forward to our first Medallion cruise in April on the Sky 😀

Thanks.

Yes there were several folks on here that stated if they walked up to the bar or past it if the ipad picked up their medallion and the bartender didnt pay attention they got charges not theirs.  Some were saying in the casino as well.  I know on our last one we had to now tap the medallion to the fob they had at the stores and for bingo.  So that may have been the new remedy to not allow the ipads pick up the signal but rather have the guests tap their medallions to buy the items including drinks at the bar.  We only did our 1 free drink and didnt not pass by the bars but still checked our accounts just in case every couple of days for unwanted charges.

The way it works at the bar and when ordering from someone with the medallion reader. You actually have to just about touch the reader on the bar. It will then change colors around the circle and read your medallion. The bar tender will give you a nod that it read it. Just walking past it will in no way register it at the bar.

Bunch of miss information.

Same miss information in the casino. No different to play a slot or the tables.
