Predict when cruising will start again post-Coronavirus

Recommended Posts

I saw the announcement CW made regarding the new Premier of NSW.  Just a day after RC cancelled their cruises.

I also noted that he will mention who says no!    Presumably Scomo!!!

unbelievable…now the Queen is irritated by Prime Ministers not going to Glasgow!   Who could she possibly mean??

Why on earth have they done that? Cafes are allowed to offer table service to vaccinated patrons, aren't they?

NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet has come out in support of restarting local cruising  after an exclusive Cruise Passenger readers poll showed huge support for the ships to return to Australia.

Mr Perrottet told a news conference the state government is “very open” to a return of cruise ships, and the Prime Minister Scott Morrison was “incredibly passionate” about that.

Perrottet revealed he has been talking with the federal government on getting cruises back. “If there is … a firm proposal on the table, we will take that to the cabinet committee,” he said. “We are very open to that and working with the federal government to bring back cruising.“

His comments came as a survey of Cruise Passenger’s  500,000 online and in print cruiser showed 90 per cent were demanding the Australian government resume domestic cruising now “provided crews are regularly tested, crew and passengers are fully vaccinated and vessels only sail in Australian waters.”

Only 3.5 per cent said they would not support this model, which has been championed by Cruise Lines International Association Australasia.

Over 93 per cent said the Federal Government should put more effort into bringing back domestic cruising.  As Cruise Passenger has been reporting for months, Federal Government health officials have refused to examine or discuss plans to bring back foreign-flagged vessels.

Almost 95 per cent said they are already fully vaccinated, and 94 per cent said they believe it should be mandatory for crews and passengers to be fully vaccinated before ships can sail. And how ready are our readers to cruise?

Over 53 per cent said they would cruise right now or in three months, and another 37 per cent said they were looking to book in 2022.  Almost 70 per cent said they were looking at cruises for 2022, and 11 per cent said they were considering 2023.

There is no doubt what the key motivator is: almost half of our readers say a policy of fully vaccinated passengers and crew is vital before they will book. Hygiene and safety runs neck and neck with flexible booking policies.

Almost 60 per cent of our readers have Future Cruise Credits, and of those 76 per cent have yet to use them.

One third of our readers are looking for a line with smaller ships if they are considering switching – though it should be pointed out that just over half are sticking with their favourite cruise line.

One of the biggest areas of change is that of cruise destinations.  For months, our readers tuck with Australia and New Zealand.  But now, Europe, America and Asia are running at 16 per cent and 10 per cent.

Maybe the cafe is copping too much flak from the unvaccinated public and decided it's not worth the hassle?

Maybe shut down due to being a covid contact hotspot- being reported by a customer?

Don’t know?

We are in the Hawkesbury and it’s one of the highest vaccination rate.

We got a takeaway and sat in Richmond park on the grass.

Im just dumbfounded,RC was the last major cruise line to cancel yesterday.

And today we are hearing how our fabulous leaders are doing us a favour.

Rather than ask for people's vaccination status, business owners are waiting until the changes in restrictions that come into effect on the 1st December.

Yeh probably right.

Small business probably found it to hard to comply  with the regulations and over zealous officials.

Had to go to the shops today, those that require double Vax were being ultra cautious as “authorities are doing checks”. Mrs G isn’t double yet so I had to go in and do what needed doing. Silly thing is she could freely wander around the centre, but some shops she couldn’t enter.

All the cafes round where we are in Lane Cove are happily doing table service. We just have to show our vaccination certificates. No big deal. We downloaded them to our phones so they are quick to access.

Did you download them to the Service NSW app? We have downloaded ours to the Service Vic app so it is easy to show when checking in. We also have them on the Medicare app.

That option has just become available today. I've tried downloading it but aren't sure if it's worked yet.

I found ours easy to do. As we already had the certificates on our Medicare app, where there is a 'Share with check in app' button ,we just pressed that and the cert went to the SV app. We had to update the Service Vic app before doing it.

Yes it works, used it today when I visited my nail salon. They were so happy to see me, and  they have no problem asking their customers for their Vaccination status.

My vaccination certification  worked well on the Services Vic app but my husband’s didn’t.

The copy in the wallet doesn't have the Australian coat of arms watermark like the Medicare and now our Service Vic apps do. I believe this is to stop fraudelent certificates.

Yes, I did all that but I can't see it on the NSW app. It may just show when you check in somewhere.
