The weather down here today is not wall to wall sunshine, but it is just as hot a humid. 

I have just spent the last half hour or so washing my car to get rid of all the calling cards left by the gulls😒 after having had to chase them off the car first😠.

Enough done for today, so going to take a coffee out into the garden, before having some lunch and going into work. I've got a parking permit now so will not have to hang around waiting for buses and trains.😀

Hi hope everyone's doing OK today 

We enjoyed our night staying in Cleethorpes at the Premier Inn but as you cannot have too

much of a good thing we stayed another night but in a well known sea front hotel, which 

was far better as we had a sea view from the room and at breakfast .

Back home now as Mrs K wanted to water her flowers in the garden .

It was nice whilst it lasted

Whoops. I thought it was looking over the roofs to the beach at Carbis bay. We stayed at the hotel about 5 years ago. They didn't have a sea view room. When we arrived they gave us a beach house. This is the view from our lounge patio doors. About £400 a night now.

Looks nice. Being a Southerner can I ask is Cleethorpes far from Scunthorpe.?.Still on the healthy breakfast.?.🤣

No it looks down on Porthminster beach.

You would love it Zapp it's a bit like Southend without the excitement and it's a tad under 30 mile from Scunny which does not suffer from tidal ebbs and flows, such as Cleethorpes  .

 

As for breakfasts, long gone are full works breakfasts due to medical conditions .

We saw that one. Harbour hotels seem to be adding some nice ones to their portfolio. Christchurch harbour and the old Imperial in Padstow.

What's the secret of clearing out a restaurant Kalos.Do you promise them a "stand up turn"after the meal?

I should add,PI breakfasts are the best around IMO.Healthy and unhealthy options,I have both.

We had a PI breakfast the day before and the chef must have been stressed with the large crowd of around twenty other people. Ours came out swimming in oil , eggs cold and yolks rock hard .

They didn't do any better the day before either with the carvery but the meat was nice .

Never had a bad PI Breakfast before ever but this was the Brewers Fayre .

The photos at the hotel ,we were having breakfast at 6.30 am and apart from one very old dear, no one had thought to get out of bed but by 7am there were quite a few put in an appearance .

We will be using it again very soon ,all the good people use it ( @Angel57 ) Gill has used it in the past so it must be good

The news is saying that some of the reservoirs in the South of England are down to 15%.

 

A farmer in Cambridgeshire was saying that some of his crops just won’t survive the heat.

 

Anyone got a hosepipe ban as yet? If not, I suspect it won’t be long if this continues.

Afternoon all, extremely hot here in North Kent, bit overcast now but still muggy. It’s been wall to wall sunshine for days.

Thanks for all the gorgeous photos of the sea, I’ll add one too! On Sunday we had a few hours on Greatstone beach which is near Dymchurch. It’s a huge beach and not on the main train route so can be quieter than others. The only disappointing thing is the tide goes out so far you don’t get that lovely sound of the waves!

 

Happy birthday and anniversary to those celebrating recently and well done Purplesea on your new job.

I've just checked on line for our area reservoir level which is in Wales and is currently at 72% down 2% in the last week. So I think that we are some way off any possible hose pipe ban, I only use a hose for washing the car not for the garden anyway.

Our hosepipe is about 50 feet long.🤣

Our levels are fine here as well but then it rained here last night. Lovely all day then rain, and we had watered the grass.

We got back from our Ambassador cruise today, brilliant cruise. A few niggles but nothing that will stop us booking again. Added a few pics, it was the first time I have seen a solar halo, which was in the arctic circle, then lo and behold there was another one as we sailed down the north sea to Tilbury.

I saw a headline that South West Water are asking residents to save 5 litres of water per person!

I have been at work all afternoon and the computer icon at the bottom of the screen has been showing that the temperature is 30oC and raining😕 We have had a few clouds, but the sun has been shining strongly!!

We went to the  Isle of wight today and had a lovely day driving around all the island visiting the needles to the pearl shop with a xtra pressie brought me , went to the smoking lobster at ventnor for the sea food platter in pictures and then on to the garlic farm for pudding, black garlic salted caramel chocolate brownie with ice cream it was absolutely delicious,.

we caught the 7.10 ferry out and returned on the 8.50 so a very long day but we’ll worth it .

My sister is having a rough time with the virus, now into day 7 of suffering, was touch and go whether should would be admitted to hospital, but decided she would be better at home, has been given the Anti-Virals so hopefully she will improve soon. Her husband is 3 days behind her and is still feeling rough. This new strain is pretty brutal wouldn’t wish it on anyone, my wife is on Day 17, still has cough and no energy, we have cancelled our theatre trip for tomorrow as she currently doesn’t feel she has the confidence to be in crowded venues. 

 

Weather has been cooler today only 25 C, we had some rain this afternoon all 60 seconds worth. Just checked reservoir levels in ST Water region on their website, some are at 80% plus others below 50%.

 

I installed a water butt 3 weeks ago, currently had around 20 cm in the bottom, which is shrinking day by day in the heat. 

 

Looking at forecast for next week, we appear to be reaching 35 C on Monday

Please can someone tell me how much military spend per week on board extra credit you get , I’m going on a 19 day cruise and they have only given me £50 per person, I’m sure it should be more than that when I had it last time unless they have cut it down! ! 
Im sure it used to be £15 , £35, £50 depending on the days you spent on the cruise.🤷‍♀️
