The Good Old Days

Am I the only one who misses the good old days of Cruise Critic when we used to discuss the more serious issues?  I can't wait to get back to those soul searching discussions instead of what seems to be popular now ... When am I getting my refund? When can I cruise again?  Will HAL survive?  Why are HAL phone lines so busy?  When can I go to Alaska?

I liked it better when my biggest concerns for a cruise were what shoes to pack and which night to book the Pinnacle Grill!

I had stopped posting in the cancel/refund/virus threads due to the snarkiness.

 

I think "service animals" was the hot topic before all this started.  It was very heated but tame compared to the current touchy atmosphere.

We could ask about baked Alaska parades while we're at it. I proposed eliminating them in a thread years ago and thought I was going to be forced to walk the plank (how dare I suggest such a thing), ironically HAL ended up doing away with them anyway, sadly the ice carvings and dessert extravaganzas went with it.  I never wanted to go THAT far!

It's been years since I heard a CD "beg" guests to please eat the potato salad.  The implication that I got--which was designed to be humorous--was that the salad had been sailing for many cruises.

I did as well and now, at least on HAL ships in the Lido Restaurant, it seems to have become extinct.
