Well it’s my turn.  Andy was working on the siding around the new bedroom window when the ladder tipped and he fell.  Thankfully he landed on the grass but he put his hand out to break the fall.  It looks exactly like Owens. He was also having some back pain so I called a rescue.  We’re at the hospital now, he just went for a cat scan & X-rays but they’re saying he will likely need surgery on the wrist.   I’m just thankful I was home.

Oh no.  So glad you were home and I hope he heals quickly.

It's doing pretty good. I have some pain in my knee in another place that wasn't giving me any pain before so I'm wondering if it may be some nerve pain as the nerves regenerate. Good luck with the injection. What are they giving you?

I'm so sorry to hear this Deb. Thank goodness you were home. I will be thinking of you and Andy.

I hope the new pain eases Greg.

It is a steroid injection.

I mentioned the injection you suggested and the doctor thought the steroid might work better for me after seeing my x-rays.

He said he would only do one knee first to see how it reacts.

Graham.

I broke my right (dominate) wrist years ago in a skiing accident.  Apparently, there are something like 28 bones that make up the wrist and I broke the smallest but worst one. Due to limited blood flow, its the one that heals the slowest. Spent 3 months in a cast, first month the cast was from my knuckles to my shoulder than got progressively shorter each month.  Then 6 or 8 weeks of wrist rehab by a hand specialist to get my strength and range of motion back.

I fell down about 6 stairs at home when I was about 7 in 1963 and fractured my left wrist.

OMG.

I hope he is not in pain.   And thankfully the injury was not more critical.  I am sure he is so frustrated.

Now yesterday the DH was going to clean one side of house gutter. We worked all day and ran out of time.

After reading of these injuries I am now looking for a company to do it for us.

To me it will be worth every cent.

I guess the writing is on the wall.

To all. Be careful.

Take care.

I had my gutters replaced 5 years ago - along with a new roof and siding - and I was talked OUT of getting  leaf guards by the contractor.

Not one of my better decisions. 😒

We got a new roof and gutters last winter after hail storm all state paid for everything, except deductible 😁😁😁

I guess I should have said we have new gutters with our new roof but one area on side of garage looks like “ moss” on top of the gutter guard.  A section about 6 feet.

Because of trees and minimal sunlight I am wondering if that occurred because of the location.

Whatever. It got to be done.

Take care.

Yikes, hope he heals quickly.  Definitely sounds like time to all be sitting still.

Love the long stretch as she is sleeping.  How is she settling in?

She is settling in and has made friends with Elmer and Storm.  Samantha likes to sit back and watch her and has played with her a time or two.  She is much more athletic and busier than Samantha was at this age.

6 hours at the hospital for mom’s pre-op visit and all is about prepared as possible. I’m feeling confident but have had enough of the hospital for now for the last two days.

In fact, during the last 5 minutes of our appointment they offered us a cancellation for this Wednesday.  Not enough notice though, as there is still too much to arrange before July 6th.

Oh no. So sorry to hear this. I read further on and am glad to see there's no damage to his back.

Hopefully recovery comes quickly!

One of our sons fractured his wrist also ... snowboarding. He was about 18 or 19.  He did recover fairly quickly. I hope the same for Owen.

@A&L_Ont Do you think the injury happened on the  collide when he hit the 1st basement or did the injury happen when he braced himself when he went flying and hit the ground?

That's the issue that sometimes happens when kids that young don't know how to transfer their feet across the first base bag when trying to catch an errand throw from across the diamond.

Owen was just tagging first base after his hit and run down the baseline.  Fractions of a second later the first baseman t-boned Owen, on his blind side as he tried to tag first base. He was later than Owen and Owen was hit perpendicular to the direction he was running an had no idea the kid was there.

He didn’t try to tag Owen with his glove, he just ran into him. Owen flew 5’ at about 4’ off the ground.  Owen landed on his wrist breaking and dislocated it. He has bruises on the front of both shoulders too. Owen was called safe because he got there first, even he was laying on the ground crying out loud.

Meanwhile the first base coach was questioning if Owen should’ve been safe or not. He was debating that while Owen was still laying on the ground and Lisa was standing 2 feet away from him.  This was two or three minutes after it happened, when the coaches called her to come over.

On the other team there was a mom who is a paramedic, and she came to assist after Owen was helped off the diamond.  Owen was so gray faced she had him lay down, and determined it was either a broke wrist or dislocation. She said we could either call the ambulance or take him ourselves. It took 20 minutes before we had him loaded

Their kid was kicked out of the game and Owen is out to at least early August. We are disgusted by the coaches actions and not very pleased with the kid either. It was the top of the second inning and Owen was first at bat and we were leading 1/0.  This didn’t need to happen.

If it had been the MLB it would have been a dugout clearing brawl and their next batter would have been nailed by the pitcher.

It sounds like a wonderful day spent at the beach yesterday!  Was it not windy??  It was quite windy here;  we put the awning over the deck which made it quite cozy,  but after a while we had to retract it when the wind got really crazy.  Your menu sounds divine!!!!  Jim wanted tacos, so tacos it was!!!

Have a great time with your DB and SIL.

I think the wind was around 15 to 18 mph yesterday.   It felt good on the beach with the hot sun.   I heard it was really windy at home and my cats didn't like it.

Today was very calm, hardly any waves due to sandbars.   More people in the ocean today, the young ones, too chilly for me to go any further than my feet.

I saw on the news the horrible fires at Wharton State Park. something like 11,000 acres impacted.

And the next time that first baseman was at bat would not have been pretty.  I agree with what you said earlier...hard to believe that Owen plays hockey and football and it's in a baseball game that he gets injured.

What was the contractor's reasoning?

I hadn't had mushrooms in awhile so last week Sharon picked me up some.  I sauteed mushrooms, onion greens and bell pepper in olive oil then scrambled in some eggs.   Sooo good.   Caden saw it and I talked him into trying his 1st mushroom and he liked them.  Later I made a pizza with mushrooms and he really liked it.

That is Great that Caden is open to trying to new foods and enjoying them.

We changed plans as Viking Village was sold out of scallops same for Blue Claw seafood market.    they both said Father's Day wiped them out of a lot of seafood and expect a scallop boat to come into dock Tuesday so we will make for dinner on Wednesday.

Tomorrow we plan on going to Howards Restaurant for their delicious / famous french fried lobster.
