Thank you, Deb.

Now, that I've finished with the "gift", we're looking both at a dinner out with friends with whom we're together from the very beginning, also a short getaway to either Jerusalem or Tel Aviv.

The boys and our DIL, have already booked a nice and affordable restaurant, not far from our in-laws, who have been "volunteered" to baby-sit on the Friday night, after our "real" anniversary, which falls on the middle of the week.

Jerusalem is more special, with some historic and very expensive hotels, but it's also much colder than Tel Aviv, weather wise.

May I ask what your Anniversary day is, Dani?  I wish you and your DH so much love and happiness!🎉💖🎉

Cody has seemed to have found a spot he likes.

Hard to see from my pictures, but the countertops have silver sparkles in it. With the dimmer lights on now in the evening, they twinkle like stars when you look at the counter walking around it.

Hard to get a good picture with so much light coming in from the windows

This is where the gas range goes.

The guy that measured for the counter took our copper sink, when it arrived back today with counter tops the Copper sink was damaged with a scratch in the front..............So  another $800 sink has been ordered and will be here Wednesday.  We are having the sink dropped in from the top, it will not be mounted under the countertop. That is the way we wanted it.

The large countertop for the island came in 2 pieces. Here is what it will look like when mounted.

Cody photo bombing again..... So far out of our 3 cats, he was the first to jump up on the countertop.

Possibly to keep him deeply sedated to decrease cerebral cortex use. His brain needs healing from the anoxic trauma.

But he wasn't sedated... he was writing questions out on paper because he was still on the vent.

I don't recall the UC Doctors mentioning VAP, although I easily could have missed it.  I do recall them saying that they don't feel he can breathe 100% on his own yet and will slowly wean him off the ventilator as his breathing improves.  I think this was from lung damage sustained during CPR??? The only negative that I remember them mentioning is the discomfort of the ventilator to Damar.

I haven't been following the case really beyond what has been discussed here, but that just sounds hinky to me (the lung damage part).

Oh well, they did finally take him off the vent -- he's a very lucky guy.

Y'all... I am inordinately excited right now.

I'm flying to Houston next week to go on a B3B on Allure out of Galveston.  This will be my first time cruising out of Galveston, and all three weeks will be going to some of my favorite ports (Roatan and Costa Maya).

AND I JUST REALIZED THAT I CAN HAVE MY UBER STOP AT BUC-EE'S ON THE WAY TO GALVESTON FROM THE AIRPORT!!!!!!!!!

@BonTexasNY, Bonnie, wishing your daughter also a wonderful Birthday.

@Luckynana, Maryann, thank you. Our actual anniversary, as well as DH's birthday, is January 17th (shared with the late Betty White).

It will also be a bitter sweet b'day for DH, since his sister (7 years older than him), with whom he shares the b'day, went into irreversible coma. She was 73, and now DH is "catching up" with her....

So I am excited for you.  Three weeks of cruising wow.  But what is Buc Ees?

The three weeks of cruising isn't such a big deal to me (although I'm gonna enjoy the heck out of it) -- I did ten in a row in the fall.

Buc-ee's, though, is something I've never experienced.  It's a chain of gas stations and convenience stores that are LEGENDARY.  It's a huge store that sells food and home decor, in addition to being a gas station and having huge amazingly clean restrooms:  click here to read more.

Overcast and occasionally rainy Saturday in Sydney today.  Perfect day for doing indoor activities in the city.  Started off with re-visiting Van Gogh Live.  It’s returned to Sydney and is being held in a larger venue this time round.

You have various photos ops available.  I went with the have your photo taken in a Van Gogh Painting:4A17DFC7-0FEF-41C3-82C3-C3D9ADFAFE88.thumb.jpeg.b9241dda196c6dfa49b629e7434ff94a.jpeg

There also a room full of sunflowers and a room full of mirrors.  The onsite “French” cafe did a nice lunch.  Then it was onto the main event, where Van Gogh’s life, diary entries and paintings are projected onto the walls and floors of the exhibition hall.945FB86B-783E-4A7F-BC6C-48921C1075F3.thumb.jpeg.c870608436c4cd9ee208e34a890f19b7.jpeg

Photos don’t do it justice but enjoyed the experience just as much the second time around.

Next indoor event was National Geographic’s Our Country which was on at the Exhibition Hall in Darling Harbour.  This was a similar concept but it was showcasing the beauty of Australia’s varied landscapes and flora and fauna.  I didn’t take any photos of the storm footage but that was impressive too.374F36C2-5694-45C7-B23E-5C7E4E4EFAD5.thumb.jpeg.d90da2c8215ee36b520fb6e88a1db225.jpeg

Final indoor event for the day was Frida Kahlo, life of an icon, a Sydney Festival event at Barangaroo.  This was all about her life and was very well done.67CF2E2A-8DC0-4F6F-B583-6B84E89E55C6.thumb.jpeg.52a31f6c740af6c19509ec1ca8256031.jpeg

This room was interactive, when you stepped onto the floor, the artwork swirled around your feet.

30 min video of her life projected on all the walls of the room.699F1032-EE12-4484-B91B-51A53CDDF70C.thumb.jpeg.a14a5e84c23af83841682ecfa8e197ba.jpeg

There was a VR experience as well and then at the of the exhibit a bar, cafe and Mexican band and dancers and the opportunity to make your own floral headband.

Spent far longer here than expected but very good.

Walking from Barangaroo to Circular Quay, saw the Amazara Quest depart White Bay heading for the Harbour Bridge under gloomy skies.DF7BD6E8-1C7D-4975-AE38-BC0BB14A6A8F.thumb.jpeg.302417ff254df99baabc9bf9713ea466.jpeg

Saw Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth at OPT and judging by the crowds watching, she was due to depart too but alas the phone battery died and the skies were about to open so no photos.

There is a very similar Van Gogh experience happening in Jacksonville, Florida right now.  I looked it up and it's called Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience.  It also projects art on the walls and floor with an accompanying soundtrack.  Apparently, there are 5 different Van Gogh immersive experiences.

Off to investigate buying tickets for the Jacksonville show.  Looks interesting.

For those that have been to Coco Cay, which Day Bed locations are best........give pros and cons of each, nearest free  food, rest rooms etc.

Breezy Bay $199

South Beach $199

Chill Island $299

Are the above prices per person or per bed? Website a little confusing.

Not going to be hooked into any of the Over priced Cabana's  for just 1 day , just to bring your food to you. Could go out  4  or 5 times to nice restaurant  back home for those prices.

@Jimbo the kitchen reno looks great.  How long to completion?

@DaniDanielle Happy Birthday Marietta!

Waiting for a few more supplies that are needed for completion. We are going away on the 20th to the 29th this month. So  nothing will be done while we are away.  So if I had to guess completion will be the first or second week on February.

We might have a Super Bowl Party inviting some of the neighbors over for the reveal. Some of them have been asking to see it. They all knew we have been doing something over here because  a Port-a- Potty has been sitting along the driveway for months. 🙂

Here is a closeup picture of the countertop, has like almost looks like tiny broken up pieces of mirror in it which makes it sparkle as you walk around it when light is on it at night. Pretty cool . It's quartz.

Reflections of the pendant lights and beam above are showing in the pictures.
