@ReneeFLL My orchid finished blooming so I cut the stems back.  Now I have leaves coming out.  Should I try potting the leaves?  Should I wait until I see roots?  I have never been able to keep one alive this long and I am at a loss as to what to do now.

Don’t repot unless it is really root bound or the potting mix is breaking down. The leaves are what is called a keiki (Hawaiian for baby). It is making a baby orchid and should form roots. Let it grow until the roots are about 3” and then pot it.

All this talk of Vegas, well guess what I might have done last Wednesday…

Wow, Congrats, just seems like a hassle to fly all the way to Vegas for so few days. Oh to be young again.

Our excursion for Juneau tomorrow was cancelled.  Maybe just catch a ride to Mendenhall Glacier and wander a bit instead.   Any suggestions?

Cheers 🍻 Mark

Curious Mark to know what excursion was canceled and if you know why it was canceled?

We've got a November weekend scheduled for LV.  My old law school roommate and I try to work a football gambling weekend into our schedule every year.  We hang out in the sportsbook, the wives at the slots.  Wife's favorite thing to do is find me in the sports book to replenish her bankroll...when I roll my eyes and say something like "ALREADY???" she sits down next to me and starts asking questions about what's happening on every TV set...she knows how to play the game LOL

Staying at the Cromwell...the old Barbary Coast was probably my favorite hotel back in the day.  Very small, nothing fancy, but you could leave your room and be on the strip in 30 seconds...not like the mega hotels where you have to walk for 5 minutes through the casino just to get outside.

Her first concert, Ed SheeranFullSizeRender.thumb.jpeg.d1529fd251c9738713a89aa2bb848892.jpeg

Gorgeous photo.  She looks so happy.

My DD met Ed Sheeran at the airport & won tickets to an intimate performance on a floating pontoon in the middle of Sydney Harbour.  He was lovely on both occasions.

@jagsfan

the young Aboriginal lead in the film is an inspired casting choice.  His character has little dialogue and so his beautiful expressive face and luminous eyes are perfect for the role.  I worry for child actors and would be happy for this role to be his one and only which was the case for the actor from the movie Australia.

I'd like to "shout" a big thank you to Ken ( @Ourusualbeach ) for his patience and understanding.

You've been a great help, Ken, and I really hope to meet you and all the others in Bella 2....😉

Dani, saying I look forward to meeting you on Bella 2 would be an understatement!!  Jack is looking forward to it also! I hope it works out for you and DH and meanwhile you have a wonderful cruise meeting up with your cousin.  I know you all will have the best time.

Thank you for the information.  I am a novice as far as orchids go but I really love them.

I'm pretty sure that we had a really nice dinner at a restaurant in the Barbary Coast when I first went to Vegas for my roommate's brother's graduation.  Their parents treated us to dinner and according to my (not always trustworthy) memory, it was a fancy place.  Does that sound familiar?

Does this mean you are booked or going to book Bella 2?  If so, then I’m really excited and looking forward to Bella 2. 😄

When you do get ready to cut them off it’s best to use a sterile blade and sprinkle cinnamon powder on the fresh cuts.

Yes, they had a really good fine dining restaurant (can't remember the name, Michael's maybe?).

Another cool thing was they had a hot dog cart just outside the sportsbook.  As I recall, best hotdogs outside of the dirty water dogs you can get in NYC carts.

Will be very curious to hear your review vs the bellagio.  Are you seeing a show?

Having stayed at Bellagio three times I know it will be different but we have walked through Park MGM many times, especially after our last trip.  From reviews it looks very nice and it is only really a place to rest our heads at night.  I will share our thoughts of it.

Tomorrow at 2:10 Lisa and I pick up Owen when school finishes and head to Detroit for our flight at 6:30.  We fly home at 9:30 Wednesday morning.  Last Wednesday we booked refundable flights, our refundable room which had to be cancelled by midnight last night, and tickets for an event that would be refunded if it didn’t have to happen.

So why are we going?  Let’s just say that steps away from our hotel is T-Mobile Arena, the home of the Vegas Golden nights.  Tuesday they play game 5 of the Stanley Cup finals, and if they win that game they win the cup.

Owen had no idea and we surprised him Friday morning after the Knights lost game 3 in Florida. He was blown away.  This weekend he was busy in a local ball tourney and in between games studying for a test tomorrow and a quiz on Thursday.

This is a once in a lifetime event to be able to watch a team that we love possibly win the championship.  Our fingers are crossed.

Mendenhall River Rafting.  Low participation was reason given on the flyer delivered to the cabin.  15% off a different excursion was offered.
