Yes, I was just about ready to water the garden when these dark clouds  rolled in. No need to now we got a good downpour for 40 minutes. The high the last 3 days was near 85 degrees, It's now 70 degrees and the sun is out again.

I think the storms you had are about to roll into our area.  Wind just started up and radar map looks like they'll be here around 10 pm.   Hopefully not as strong as yours.

Good morning.  Another beautiful winter Saturday in Sydney.  Planned to see a movie today but too nice a day to spend indoors.  Be interested to see if this winter in Sydney will be the warmest & driest on record.

We hardly ever have interesting weather like that, either. ☺️

 

The floors are in. I am just terrified of messing them up before we sell the house and have rugs everywhere. They look very nice. I forgot to take photos before we put rugs everywhere.

All these garden pics are bringing back old childhood memories. My dad was an Ag teacher in a rural small town. We had a huge garden. I spent all summer either picking the produce in the TX sun (it takes forever to pick the rows of beans & peas) or standing in the hot kitchen canning/pickling/jellying it. We canned beets, tomatoes, green beans, peas, many types of pickles, peaches, pears, and several types of fruit jam/jelly. We also grew bell peppers and canteloupes. We had so many tomatoes that we couldn't can or eat them fast enough, so my mom put out a sign in the front yard and sold them for $. That was literally all I did all summer, other than a family road trip at some point. My friends would stop by, but I was stuck in the kitchen. NEVER AGAIN. LOL.

 

My adoptive mom used to grow strawberries and various veggies, plus go to pick-your-own blueberry, raspberry, and apple farm. She would can / pickle / jelly / freeze all of it all summer/fall, in addition to all the time she spent in the garden growing and harvesting the stuff. 

She couldn't grow corn for crap (she put it all in one big long row, not in a patch that could cross-pollinate, so her corn was always anemic-looking), but her homemade applesauce and strawberry or raspberry jams were awesome. She would skim the foam off the top of the strawberry jam mixture and set it aside, and the next day my brother and I would fight over who got to put it on their toast -- it was like a whipped cream jelly, because it would stiffen up still foamy.

 

She would freeze the blueberries and we would eat them for dessert in the summertime, barely thawed, like a Mother's Nature Italian Ice type of thing.  The texture of a frozen blueberry is more slushy like a popsicle than hard like an ice cube, so it was the perfect summertime treat.  

Pretty sad that the above paragraphs are literally the only nice things I can think to say about the woman... relationships weren't her forte, but she did have a strong work ethic at least.  She would make a fascinating study for people interested in the whole "nature vs nurture" thing -- she was completely unlike her parents or her brother when it came to human relationships (but she had very strong relationships with her pet dogs).

My son has been spending time on his apartment balcony ridding the neighborhood of the squirrels that steal the birdseed from the feeders.  He's actually going to look into a side gig as a rodent killer!

Trust me, these memories of the time they've spent with you are going to live on forever in their hearts as some of the best times of their life!

Just NO! Some of us love squirrels. Put a baffle on your bird feeder. 😡That is just disgusting.

I was actually thinking of seeing the final Indiana Jones only because it is  only being screened once a day - unlike the others that are being shown every hour.  Want to see both you are considering.  Be interested in your thoughts on the one you choose…

Went to a free exhibition currently on at the Museum of Sydney - celebrating 50 years of the Sydney Opera House.  Thought I’d be there half an hour but ending up spending over an hour and a half.   Had footage of the late Queen Elizabeth officially opening the Sydney Opera House - outdoors in gale force winds - I read rumours that the females of the Royal family wear skirts with weighted hems - certainly seemed to be the case in the footage.  Also, news footage of various special events at the Opera House including the NYC artist who photographed 5000 Sydneysiders who willingly posed naked on the Opera House steps in 2010…can confirm we didnt volunteer.  Photos from the exhibition

This woven model sits on a bed of crushed shell.  The original site of the Opera House  had a traditional shell midden that was a place of importance for cultural meetings of the local people.   This is the reason the restaurant at the Opera House that I recently enjoyed High Tea at  is called Midden.

DH: Why?

Me: Where your bike is currently parked next to the shed, is flooding…

DH:  Oh yeah I noticed that.  Well, I am not using the last plumber.  He charged $400 and that included the 30mins he talked to me about Rugby and I don’t even like Rugby!!

Me: ok, well do you want me to get recommendations?

DH: Yes please.

Me:   texted him recommendations from friends

DH:  Plumber is coming first thing Monday

Me: Which one?

DH: the one I used last time
