Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

Recommended Posts

Our littlest grandsons Christening/first birthday party was yesterday. Held in a church that has strong links for us. We were married there, our kids were christened there. Gary and I were baptised there as adults and my parents are buried there.

Lovely little Christening service from Father Richard and great party in the church hall afterwards

Fabulous idea for a two sided cake.   I have never seen anything like this before now.  Genius!!

All her cakes are beautiful and I'm sure they taste as good as they look.

At this point I probably will not mess with it. And to be honest I see how people treat people on scooters on cruise ships and it's deplorable. When I see someone waiting to get on the elevator with a scooter I make sure to hold the door open for them and make sure they get on first. People are so rude trying to board before someone on a scooter. I just don't want the hassle of being treated like that.

Just make sure your wife agrees with your decision. 😁

With all respect, this is a two way street. I've seen scooters going down the Royal Promenade as if they own it and people had best get out of their way. I came very close once to having my foot run over.

I think the problem is that there are a lot of “novice drivers” on a ship, as well as those that think they own the place.

I agree respect and patience is needed all round.

I had an email from one of the ancestry sites today, and they were suggesting everyone tell some of their family stories, when together with family for Labor Day.  As I continue with my family history book, There are things I discovered that I wish I would have known earlier, and been able to ask my parents and grandparents.

The acorns are never-ending here, as well.

Our daughters gave Jim and I each our own Storyworth(?) with many different topics to write about so they and our grandchildren can learn of our histories of our childhoods, as well as interesting facts about our parents..their grandparents and great-grandparents.  I so wish that I had asked my Mom some of the questions that Storyworth is asking of me.

My knee injection has not worked very well which is what I was afraid of. Having a torn meniscus and torn ACL along with the arthritis is not helping with the injection. At this point I will suck it up and enjoy my cruise on October as much as I can and then get my replacement surgery November 3rd.

Gee, Greg.  I'm sorry to hear that your knee didn't behave after your injection,  Once you have your replacement surgery, there'll be no holding you back!!!

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. I think we hit 90° today.  Granddaughter is in the parade tomorrow, so we will be there, and enjoying some good music and festival time.

Now that Susan and I don’t have our grandson here, we are spending more time on walks. Saw these two tonight.  They lost almost all their spots.

I never knew that deer lose their spots.  I learned something new today.  Thank you, Mark!

Did you see the baby giraffe that was born without spots last week?  I believe they said it was a first!!

Yes I am really looking forward to getting this all behind me. Yes I will have to deal with pain, soreness and rehab for awhile but my other replaced knee feels great. It's not as perfect as a real knee but I at least don't have pain walking or climbing stairs. Let's do this!

I once got rammed in my back by a woman on a scooter on once of our cruises.

@ReneeFLL Ships docking in Halifax used to be greeted by a bagpiper . If you are on a Cunard ship they serenade you arriving and departing.  You’d have to check if they still have that tradition.

After we docked in Halifax last October on Adventure, Jim and I were taken to the hospital for his emergency Gallbladder operation.  I had read and seen pictures of those on our Roll Call where they said they loved the Bagpiper who played while the ship was departing.

We've actually had bagpipers at two of our daughters Weddings.  We had an entire Pipe Band for one daughters wedding in the middle of the Reception.  For our second daughter's Wedding, we had a lone Piper playing outside the Coast Guard Chapel as the guests were exiting the Chapel.

Agreed. I have seen that too.

Yes, there are rude people that will jump in front of a scooter for an elevator.  We experienced that first hand on Oasis last year, but there were A Lot of rude people on that particular sailing.  @DaniDaniellecan vouch for that

And yes, we have seen some scooter drivers out of control too, goes both ways.

Having a scooter gave Eric peace of mind knowing he could use it onboard and avoid aggravating his back.

Hopefully your knee cooperates and doesn't swell up to the point you are laid up in your balcony on sea days.

Will your surgeon be okay to perform the surgery if your knee is swollen when you return home?
