Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

Recommended Posts

My day has been rough and the drama of dealing with contractors is long so I won't bore you with that but I did have a good laugh at my sons expense. He works in the main office for another cruise line but has been in the UK for weeks to help launch the ship. With him being terrified of needles I was surprised that he got a tattoo. I got a pic of it followed by a pic of him when he passed out. Then a thumbs up pic with cold towels on his head.

I’m also in Berks, tomorrow is supposed to be worse. I feel sorry for the people at the Kutztown fair in this weather.

Oh my goodness...the Kutztown fair!!  My mom brought me the first  time to the fair on one of her bus trips.  The last time I was there, Jim, my brother, myself, and our one year old daughter had gone.  My mom had brought one of the twins (I don't know why her sisters didn't go) on another bus trip there, and my daughter came home with a beautiful wooden calendar, where you change the months and days.  I use it to this day..it hangs in our living room.  It always reminds me of mom when I change the months,

TSOTD is from Long Beach,NY one of my favorite places

LB has a 2 1/2 mile boardwalk and a beautiful beach. There are concerts on the beach every summer night.

The town has wall to wall wonderful restaurants most of which have live entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights.

Just finished my bike ride and showered. TSOD is St. Kitts.

It looks like our Crepe Myrtle is at the end of its season here in our back yard.

Let’s not forget the books and concerts too.

To think he got a guitar in the beginning to meet girls at parties, and look where he ended up.  He is a machine.  Now he really can sailing away, to enjoy the simple life.

We went to a Jimmy Buffet concert years ago,  Phenomenal!!!

I'll try to reply in my best English, so, pls., bear with me --

Remember, my first sentence was:

"....So, instead of a port day in Zeebruge (on board of the brand new Celebrity Apex), I've cleaned the fridge....😁

Every one has his ways of tackling adversity....Mine is humor. One of the nicest sentences I've learned here is: "... lemons -- make lemonade" [the gist of it...].

ALL of us have been thrown into an unprecedented and unknown situation/reality and had our previous life thrown upside down.

In many instances -- actually losing control, depending upon others, suffering human losses.

It helps enormously "talking" with people from other countries, from other ways of life, from other cultures, from other mentality.

You can easily say: "If you struggle with the new reality, talk with a professional, not with a 'bunch of strangers'' ".

My reply would be: "Talking here works for me. A professional is also a stranger, more skilled, sure, but -- still a stranger". [Professionals -- in the words of @OnTheJourney - "no offense meant"].

Or in other words: "happy thread (or not)" -- bottom line -- 17 months "on the front pages" and counting 😉

Seems IT works for others too....😁

Excellent post Dani and thank you for starting it.

There were few questions on what was the name of the food from my day 2 hotel stay:

Here's the official name:

20210812_073116.thumb.jpg.a1c17731f1b143ec6f6831f7f5f29c24.jpg

This is available everyday we've been here, but the ingredients are somewhat different daily.

I didn't take picture of the ingredients for day 2, but I think it's similar as day 6 of this picture.

The first time I had frittata was when our daughter was a Freshman at Oswego State College and it was served for breakfast on Campus.

Have a great vacation, and thank you for all of your food porn!😉

An FYI to all the Florida people here.  Get water, gas and food now.  Check your generators.  Hopefully Fred will just be rainy and fizzle away.

Stay safe during Fred's visit.  It looks like it's heading up the West Coast.

As I finish packing for our car trip to WDW in Florida, I have been watching the weather channel and hoping Fred behaves.

Years ago I used to date a man called Fred.  That did not work out.  After him I met the man of my dreams and this past Tuesday we celebrated our 30th. wedding anniversary.  Yup it was fun driving home from Columbus in a car on our anniversary.

We originally planned to be on the Allure starting this weekend, but cancelled with all the cruise uncertainty at that time  and booked Disney.

The drive this weekend could be wet and wild, but "It is what it is".

We are getting up at OMG 3am. to be on the road by 4am.

Hopefully make it to Georgia where we booked a room for the night.

Growing up our family always did car trips, me and my brothers were the back seat drivers and Mom and Dad up front.

We used to take a cooler and had water, pop and sandwiches at rest areas for lunch to save time and money.

Well, reliving my childhood memories.

I have ice ready to put in the cooler.

Sandwiches will be made and ready to go.

A snack bag of unhealthy treats.

Water and pop chillin.

Suitcases almost ready.

If my phone behaves I will attempt to post some of our travels.

Pray for safety.

Happy Anniversary Sue, to you and your DH.  I hope the weather cooperates and you have a wonderful time at Disney!

Eric watched the game.  I watched white lotus then watched the last 2 innings with him.  Was a great game!  Glad to Sox won🎆

Do they have any other planned games in the Field of Dreams?

White Lotus has been discussed several times on here.  I no longer have cable...is it streaming somewhere other than cable?  TIA

We did the road trip from Arkansas (almost 14 hr road time) years ago with our three girls and one of their friends.  A family had us borrow their van which made it much easier.  We drove all the way to Kissimmee fl. and spent the night so when we got up the next day we would be there.  Oh to be young again.

Oh yes, I agree...10 years younger would be nice!!!

One tiny letter.... one huge difference.

I have a TSO t-shirt. I'll have to dig it out & wear it so I can post TSOD=TSO.

Me too. I have seen them 3 times. A Christmas tradition along with Manheim Steamroller when they come to town.

In the past 15 years, I've probably been to 10-12 of their concerts so almost a yearly tradition.

My biggest bargain was in 1988 we booked a week in St Kitts at Jack Tarr a very inexpensive A/I cost was 350 a person including airfare many others we talked to paid a thousand. Liked the black sand beaches and the fact there were more monkeys than people on the island. We got the cheap fare because I booked it a week before we were leaving.

Well said Dani.  Once again, thank you for starting this thread.
At least it took over a thousand pages before “Karen” felt the need to try and rain on our parade. 🤷🏼‍♂️
