New Hope is great. My SIL’s family used to own the cheese shop in Peddlers Village.

We used to drive from Brooklyn to Flemington to shop then go to New Hope for lunch and Peddlers Village to shop.We did that at least once every summer for many years.

Yep, "Sunday Gravy" My wife side of the family is mostly Italian. That's where I got most of my recipes. Let it simmer all day makes for a great sauce. It also freezes really well too.

I never heard anyone in my family refer to it as gravy always sauce , we do let it simmer all day, it’s only the two of us and we make gallons of sauce and about 20 meatballs and add Italian sausage and freeze everything but one portion .

It may be a regional thing. I just know several Italian families that we are related to and know refer it as gravy. It's still sauce regardless.

They usually have a good menu of raw oysters.    I hope they still do.

New Hope is about 10 or 15 minutes from our house so we too have enjoyed many different restaurants in this area.    We stayed at the Inn several times and the company I work for has had their Christmas/Holiday party there several times.      They do an amazing job with their catering for weddings and other parties.

We used to live in the Clinton area, just north of Flemington, made many trips to New Hope and Lambertville, lots of great places to go.

We booked a land vacation today in Antigua, for this coming February.  We have a window of 10 days before Owen’s exams and Lisa’s Valentines Birthday.  Booking a cruise for more than 6 days was hard.

We did a lot of comparing of island resorts, as well as cruises. Our final selection was Sandals.  We made a $250 deposit, with final payment in early December and a full cash refund up to 25 days prior.  We did a vacation package with airfare included.  It was hard to say no and we have stayed here before a few years ago. At least we have something to look forward to next Winter.

Learned the sugar trick years ago.  The longer that sauce cooks the better.  Do you call it gravy, that’s what we always called it?  Got grief from non-Italian friends but who cares!

I add a bit of brown sugar to my sauce. It gets rid of that "tinny" taste you can get with tomatoes.

I don't simmer my sauce. It has a tendency to scorch when on the burner for hours. I put it in a low oven for several hours, uncovered. Sauce comes out nice and thick.

Thanks for posting. Way to young. "Hooked On A Feeling"...

He told a funny story on our cruise he had to meet Burt Bacharach in late 1960’s he took a taxi at night to his LA house wasn’t even sure if it the right house , rang the bell and Angle Dickerson answered and told Burt there is a young man to see him , they needed to discuss Raindrops falling on my head.

I made that mistake before. I have a good stove that has a special simmer ring (gas) and when I keep it low I never have the problem of burning the bottom of the pot. Another key is to stir from time to time.

Yes, I know exactly where Clinton is located.  I havent been to flemington outlets in years.  I wonder what that is like nowadays.

We don't have cats, no food porn, not near Flemington, don't make made from scratch sauce.  What I do have is a picture I found of Jack and me on The Voyager.  Best cruise ever.  Not only because we were with close friends of 30 years but we met the most wonderful 2 couples at dinner.  We laughed, carried on and people near us said they wanted to sit at our table. We cruised two more times with 4 of those special people.  Picture was of the 8 of us but edited to keep the privacy of the others. Not sure why the picture posted twice.

Yes. My grandmother's house always smelled amazing on Sundays from her hours of cooking it.

Sounds wonderful. Isn’t it great to be booking trips again and have travel to look forward to?
We booked a 9 night cruise on Celebrity Equinox today. 3/25 out of Ft Lauderdale.   Ports are Aruba, Curaçao, Grand Cayman & Nassau. All new to us except Nassau and a new cruise line as well.

We've done a few land trips during Covid but I can't wait to start booking cruises again.  I was just texting a good friend how excited I am to start planning cruises.  Got my second vax this week so I'm good to go!  Going to wait until 2022 though.  Just want to see how everything goes, and I definitely don't want to have to wear a mask onboard.
