Ocean Boy is correct.  Under the CWC you can cancel and receive a FCC for 100% of your cruise if you cancel 48 hours (actually closer to 72 as it’s 2 full days before the day of departure).  This  applies To any cruise booked before Aug 1 2020 and applies to sailings through April 30, 2022

I am having a tough time wrapping my arms willingly around the FCC.  I requested the 125% FCC for first cancelled cruise.  Two weeks later, on second cancelled cruise, I requested cash refund.  Got the cash refund over a week ago, but still nothing on the FCC.

Until they pick up their act on passing out the FCC...I am requesting the cash refund going forward.

I'm not against mask wearing, but I see potential for this being a legal disaster, HIPAA violations where someone asks for specific reasons they can't wear one, etc. There's this card floating around online, a vague attempt trying to make it appear official, when it isn't...and, if you catch the error in it, say what it is, LOL

Should be.......HIPAA

Have you called about the FCC.  Lots have been issued without the e mail going out.

I agree.  The thing about cruising is that people eat and drink everywhere.  I don't see how social distancing is possible unless the ships sail half full.  Testing people for the virus before boarding makes so much more sense than requiring a mask while on the ship.

If there is an accurate rapid result test and if the test is accurate in the incubation stage of the disease, then testing would be a very good option. Every passenger would have to agree to be tested even if they have no symptoms.  Have the passenger pay for the test. I'd be willing to add that cost to my cruise fare.

Then I would feel safe enough to cruise and the use of masks would not be necessary. Problem arises when people leave the ship and go into port, coming in contact with others not from our ship. Hmmmm. Testing may not be the answer. Oh well, it was a good thought.

You can be tested on Monday before boarding the ship & be negative

-pick up the virus on Wednesday when in some port

And be positive on Thursday

Right.  But unless they don't start cruising until 100% of the passengers get a vaccine, that can happen.  There has to be a reasonable decision.  At no point in life is someone 100% protected from contracting a contagious disease unless they don't leave their home.  When people choose to cruise, they know there are no guarantees they won't get sick.  People who are fearful or concerned, should wait until there is a vaccine to protect themselves.

And from some of the post that I have read lately it seems that is exactly the choice that few people around here would be better off making.

How many days of a 7 day cruise will the 15 minute test take  to do 6000 passengers? If you just got infected by the people that tested postive while waiting in line, how long will that take on a cruise to infect those negative people once onboard the ship?

Entering the cruise terminal should be mask required and maintain social distancing strictly. Your mask protects me and my mask protects you. That should be sufficient so anyone who is shedding virus will not infect someone else.

How to perform so many tests with rapid results in a timely manner is another hurdle to deal with. We are trying though, aren't we?

Test at every port or just the embarkation port?  People could certainly pick up the virus at any port.

Then what? Put them in a Hazmat suit and bring them directly to a quarantine cabin?

This would be a site to see. 2 parents and 4 kids bouncing off the walls ready to get their cruise on NOW!

"Just a few more minutes, Johnny, you'll be the first on the water slide, I promise! Suzie, they have a cupcake class!"

5, 4, 3, 2, 1

"Ugh, Mrs Smith, your test came back positive. You cannot board. No ma'am, we don't reimburse for hotel. No ma'am, not for your 6 hour flights either."

Set up a Web Cam and charge admission.

Damn!!! Must you think of every scenario? I thought we were getting close to a game plan. Now we have to go back to square one.

If they extend the sail away time, they can spread out the appointment times to enable it possible to do rapid testing.  Surely by August there will be some type of rapid test that could be used for cruising.  Then if anyone has any symptoms during the cruise, they can get retested.  This is reasonable and I think many cruisers would be fine with this level of service.  Anyone who tests positive during a cruise can be quarantined until the end of the cruise and led out in a safe manner away from passengers.

Note that non surgical masks only filter 90% of the virus out per research, it’s not 100% as many think. The risk is still there.

The protection will only be granted if everyone will wear the mask. If people are not willing or able to wear masks should this be manndatory in specific venues / situation during the cruise should simply stay away as long as these scenarios are mandatory. This has nothing to do with discrimination or anything else and should be as is without any legal action to even be possible.

There was an article that someone has a one minute breathalyzer test.   Have and enforce arrival times,  wear a mask at arrival, blow and go directly to your cabin while wearing a mask.  Assuming negative test, get a call and you are on your way,  no mask required.  Longer cruises with a lot of ports need another solution

They would have to let us take them off to eat and drink, wouldn't they? So then masks wouldn't be required constantly.

The answer for me is yes I would still cruise "if masks were required" whatever that means. BUT, the only cruise I am interested in right now is crossing the ocean. Been to lots of the usual ports over the years, pretty much done. I understand the majority of people enjoy shows and activities but I'd be happy lounging in the cabin or balcony with a book and a cocktail and the ocean as far as I can see.

And you could really be happy just staying in your cabin and balcony for an entire week or more?  Other than the sea view how is that really much different from what we are doing now at home? I have a lovely patio with a beautiful view - I can stay here and and relax while reading a book with a cocktail and save thousands with no worry about a mask, social distancing, or contracting a virus.

Probably right. This will end up being a huge legal mess though for RCL and they'll lose a LOT of business over it.

Legal action would be a total waste of time.

RCCL is private company.  Private companies can make rules that need to be followed.  No one is forcing you to cruise.

Lots of instances in the last few weeks in the states of exactly that.  Basically, our company, our policy, either abide or be gone.

And possibly in a crowed elevator! Not out in the sun for sure, or in a bar or restaurant.

Taking a mask on and off multiple times just increases your risk of getting sick with something. Touching the mask contaminates it and putting your hands near your face... well that has been talked about enough.

In Florida, we are now at 50% capacity indoors (restaurants) up from 25% the previous week. Seems to be working well. We had flash mobs in Daytona last night between Bethune Cookman University and the beach. At least one person shot and multiple accidents. No social distancing practiced here. Same groups that did this in DeLand last weekend. People are restless. Our entertainment last night was listening to Police Scanner on cell phone app. It was interesting. All traffic was shut down on A1A and the bridges across the river to the mainland.

I saw a screen shot of the mob in Daytona on twitter and was shocked!  No social distancing on our beaches in NC or SC either.  My in-laws winter in Sarasota and decided to quarantine there instead of going back to NY.  I am concerned that they are now back to going to restaurants with their friends (they are mid 70's, good health) - but they are done being behind the gates in their 55 & over community.  No beach for them though, they said the one nearby (Siesta Key) has been crazy crowded as well.

🙄 And THAT folks is why any cruise start will likely be a disaster.  Thanks for ruining it for everyone else.  Take your personal freedoms and crawl back under the rock you came from.

If you'd like a tissue for your tears I'll be happy to send you one free of charge. You make it sound like not wearing a mask is the equivalent of the Titanic or Poseidon Adventure.

My personal freedoms (and yours) were paid for by my 21 years in the military. I ain't crawling no where and if you don't like it you can go find some nice little socialist country to go live in.

Same thing started in Deland last weekend.  Rumor has it these group’s will be back June 6th. Just sad.

Made a reservation for Seminole Hard Rock for July yesterday.  Found out face masks and temperature checks will be mandatory.  Cancelled reservation this morning.  Not my idea of fun for the day/night

I really don't understand what the big deal is about wearing a mask in public - I do it as a sign of respect for others and honestly it makes sense to me that it does help contain some viral droplets. Why not do it?

Do you not wear a seatbelt in a car?  Are your personal freedoms compromised because we are required by law to wear one?
