Life after cruising. AKA Who is realizing they don't miss cruising that much after all?

I have to agree. We bounce around the lines and it's getting harder and harder to find the same value from even 8 to 10 yrs ago. Little things like uncomfortable balcony furniture and shortened production performances along with the cutbacks on the MDR menu have us rethinking our vacation destination. The itinerary is really the only draw now and since we are limited to the Caribbean and US coastal itineraries it's starting to get old.  A trip to nowhere if it were allowed would be a prison sentence, especially during covid.  There is no way I'm willing to cruise under the same conditions that we have to live now. I wear a mask 12 hours a day at work and I'm not willing to walk around a cruise ship wearing one.

I have a Nov 2021 cruise on Oasis booked that was L&S from this year.  I hope by then we have a vaccine.  If we do I will go on that cruise even if there are some restrictions simply because if necessary  I can stay on an Oasis class ship and never get off, but that will probably be the last cruise I will book until things get back to normal. (And if they don't then cruising will be over for me.)

I dont care for heat and humidity and i dont stay in the sun so you can figure out that im not missing  it very much . I cruise for the ship ( Oasis class )

This is my typical cruise month so i think about it but it passes quickly.

NFL has started and i am preoccupied with that .

Dont miss the flight either.

When all restrictions are lifted i will probably book something.

Florida is a very large state so you really need to look at the numbers for the counties you are going to.  It is also hard to really tell since some of the cases could be a result of data from weeks or even months ago.  I have stopped watching the numbers and am back to almost everything we were doing before.  I do miss travel/cruises and the within driving distance casino (it is open but I don't think I want to go until I don't have to wear a mask).

We miss cruising and all travel. We don’t live on the coast (3 hours away)  so we miss looking at the beautiful ocean.

Our families live in North East states that have a restriction regarding our visitation. Because we live in a “hotspot“ state we would have to quarantine two weeks if we visit.  That would take six weeks, two in each spot, to visit our family.

We miss cruising..... the beautiful sites, nice people,  carefree method of traveling,  entertainment, and the overall experience.

Several years ago we made a decision to remain in our home, and use our disposable income for travel. Well that has not played  out well since March. We are rethinking our decision.  We realized how much we missed the water, particularly the ocean.

We were cruising 4-6 times a year until a health issue sidelined us for a year. Now more recently we’ve been cruising 8 to 10 times a year

If I can figure out how to see signatures I'll scope them out

You may have hid signatures at one time. I did. Some of them just took up to much space and I like things neat and tidy..LOL

I’m not sure how to unhide (is that a word), but I’m sure somebody here does.

I just miss traveling of any kind. I usually do one Cruise  and one land vacation each year. I haven’t missed a cruise yet and was lucky that I took one last September and another one in February just as all of this was starting. But we have already postponed our January 2021 all the way out to November 2021. I’ll be climbing the walls by then. If things start looking up we may try to book a last-minute late in the spring. And it seems that I always travel in September so Facebook memories are killing me right now. LOL.

Interesting topic!

Our "peak" cruising year was perhaps 10 sailings. In the last 3-4 years, it's dropped markedly. 2020 has just accelerated the decline. Only 1 booked at this point now, for early March '21. We'll see if that comes to pass!

We had 7 cruises booked for 2020, completed 2 in Feb., 4 cancelled but we were able to move one of them to next year, and one booked in November.  Pretty sure that one will be cancelled too. Typical number of cruises per year for us.

But I think I am missing my grandkids and my son in Australia more than cruising😂

.... My savings account has never looked so good!

If for no other reason, it's difficult to purchase some things right now. I'm told up to 6 months for a fridge I was looking at! I'm not complaining - at least we have our health !

Oh I sure do miss it! I haven't cruised as much as some of you. So even though I've been on 20 cruises with five major cruise lines, there are still a lot of non-repetitive options for me.  I love the planning! I love waking up to the ocean or a new Caribbean island! Of course flying to get to the port of departure is the biggest PITA for me.  I figure if I'm going to fly somewhere, I want to get on a cruise! What a thrill to be able to get off at Costa Maya and to be whisked away to Maya Chan? How great is it to get off at Labadee and go to your own private over the water cabana? How can one beat stopping at St Croix and getting on a catamaran to Buck Island for snorkeling and a beach barbecue?  Nope...no doubt I miss it!

To turn signatures on/off go to your CC name in the upper right. Click on the inverted triangle for the Drop-Down menu, click on Settings and you'll be able to either turn on or turn off signatures.

I agree with others that I like cruising, but I don't want to pay a premium to have a limited experience. Masks are part of our everyday now, but if we can't have the same experience, I'm out.

I don't have anything booked now, but I do have a FCC burning a hole in my pocket. I won't pay the same money for a diminished experience though. If they open like MSC, I won't be going because I don't want them telling me where I can go (their tours). Plus, I can't afford as a family of four to be doing $100 tours per person in each port.  I like the destination not the ship, so if I can't get off, there is no incentive.  I like a land vacation just as well, I usually add a land portion to any cruise.  Once we can leave the country, just a land trip is what we will be doing.

The only no go for me would be the tours as we like to explore many destinations ourselves and not in tours. However all the other safety precautions found now on MSC, Costa or Tui for instance are fully ok. Even the masks, it's something you get used to, althouh not the most confortable, however I think this is something we will have for quite a while or even permanently in some situations that will require us to wear a mask. It's something that has been very common in Asia for many years.

We only cruise once or twice a year at most, so don't miss it that much. Going to Mexico in 33 days. Will be happy if we can fly to Rome next fall as we are in the only get two weeks vacation a year bracket. No kids but husband has a horrible vacation plan.

We typically sail 15-20 times a year. Starting to realize I dont miss it as much as I thought I would. Anybody else? Of course, ridiculously low prices will lure me back😉

We cruise 5-6 times a year and are anxious to be on a cruise in November, if they sail.
