Thanks to everyone who posted pictures of today’s port. Absolutely gorgeous. I’m assuming that you can’t go inside the Treasury. The rock formations are amazing.

Ann @cat shepard ~ only you could be so positive after breaking a knee cap!

Thank you all for the condolences for our friend. He was too young. Covid is horrible!

Fred @Overhead Fred thank you for sharing the info about the wines. Our cruise is in October and was thinking of upgrading to the Elite package but looks like we won’t need to.

Have a great day everyone!

I mentioned on Lisa's thread as well and asked if anyone onboard can confirm the accuracy of the Navigator app wine list.

Good morning everyone and Happy Tuesday!  Thank you for the Daily Rich and thank you for your lists Roy. Interesting collection of days. My father was a Korean vet.

I love today’s recipe Debbie @dfish and might make it with white meat instead. Today I’m thinking about making stuffed peppers 🫑.

We had sad news yesterday about an old friend we haven’t seen in years. He passed away from covid complications.  He was only 71. He had been hospitalized after Christmas with covid and had been in and out of the hospital since and never recovered. Not sure if we will go to the services since we haven’t seen them in so long (At least 30 years). But I recently reconnected with their daughter on FB.

I thought I’d leave you with a few pictures of last nights sail away from Juneau.

@Mtn2Sea,I want to highlight this photo:

88147355-A359-42E5-9D41-31531FE71924.thu

It captures for me one of my greatest memories of Petra, walking through a dull routine canyon and SUDDENLY coming up on the most amazing of complexes.  I was completely unprepared for the instantaneous revelation of the grandeur of Petra.

Today's photos are wonderful.  I always marvel at the ingenuity, and total hard work to construct such edifices without the assistance of all the modern machinery that we now have.  Our ancestors were amazing!

I am so saddened to read about Tana.  She is in my prayers.  I can relate so much to that whole spectrum that her disease cause, as my DH put in a very serious, hard-fought 4 years after diagnosis.  I feel that he had the start for several years prior to our knowledge of what he had.

Sadly, we are losing so many of the Korean veterans.  Just as the WWII veterans are so few, now we are losing the wisdom of the Korean veterans!  My DH was considered "Korea" as the start of his 22 years of military service started then and continued thru Vietnam.

We are getting "SOME" rain, but it is mostly in the wrong places.  It is over previous burn scars from wildfires and is causing flash flooding.  Guess we are never happy with the weather, and it is something that, unfortunately, we can't control!

In reading this over, it seems like a gloomy post.  I certainly don't want this on the Daily, which is always so uplifting.  Guess I need a cruise (hurry up August 21)!

Have a great day everyone.

They are from the webcam, I just had it cropped to fit my phone screen, the PtzTV logo does not show up on my iPhone, only my iPad.  I checked before I posted.

Good day and thanks all, particularly for the stunning photos!  It’s on my list but who knows?  My cousin did it a few years ago and took one of the horse rides.

@StLouisCruisers   How far was the walk?   We do walk a lot, but in that heat?
I am sorry to hear about your DMIL,  my mother had the same issue and I had to fight with the

hospital and her care facility for rails and bed alarms.   Not easy!

I love bagpipes!  DH was a drummer in a pipe band.

We got away from the smoke and spent a few days by the lake with family,   Got to celebrate our DGD half birthday as because of Covid we couldn’t at Christmas Eve.    So made lemon cupcakes and hid coins in them,  something the kids hadn’t done,   Picked Saskatoon, wild raspberries and sat by the lake!  bliss!

Hmmm.  We would guess about 5 to 6 miles from start to finish.  But we could be way off.  Does anyone have any accurate measurements?

Wow!  I can walk 6 miles, but in that heat I would be hard pressed to do 1 mile! You're amazing!

Ha!  Five years ago just about.  I was going to the gym 6 days a week at the time (when not cruising) but that has stopped thanks to gym closure if you know what I mean.  I would love to get back to it, just need an incentive to get me off my duff.

Now you know why you need so much water!

We were able to spend the day visiting Petra while on our 2019 Amsterdam cruise.  Our visit was part of a 6 day overland trip that covered Jordan’s top sites.  Our last two nights were at the Movenpick Hotel, which is located just steps away from the ticket office and entrance to this marvelous historical site.  Like most people, we chose to walk through the Sig to get to the treasury and then continued to walk (after a rest) until we reached the restaurant where we had lunch.  When we got back to the treasury, we were able to hire a driver and cart to get back through the Sig and to the entrance.  A lot of walking on a somewhat hot day, but well worth it!

Thanks for the Daily everyone.

Always enjoy a bit of bagpipe music.

The pictures today are wonderful.  This is a part of the world I've not visited so am enjoying.

Those carts definitely look speedy and a bit dangerous if you are walking.

Prayers to all those on the care list and those who need them.  Best wishes to all.

We were also warned by my guide that they were not recommended for people with back issues.  They gallop over quite rough surfaces.

@Sharon in AZ I'm sorry to learn of the passing of your long time friend.  Covid has taken way too many from all of us - I lost a dear uncle in May, and DH lost a friend he's kept in touch with since their university days in the early 1960's,  just a month ago.  Hopefully there are brighter days ahead for everyone.  Stay safe!

Smooth Sailing!  🙂🙂🙂

Good afternoon.  We had happy hour this afternoon with our neighbors.  We have gotten together a few times this year, but not as often as we used to have happy hours.  She and I have known each other most of our lives, at least since first grade.

@Sharon in AZ  So sorry about the loss of your friend from Covid-19.  Too many of us have lost friends and loved ones to this horrible virus.

@cat shepard  Enjoyed the second installment of your Icelandic Saga.

@lindaler    Glad you are getting needed rain.

@cruzn single Sorry your rain is not falling where it is most needed.

@StLouisCruisers  Sandi, hope your back and cough get better.

Thank you all who posted pictures of Petra.  We are hoping to get there next year or the year after.

Thanks to all who post on the Daily.  So much fun to read about travels and travails... We have been able to travel a bit this summer, Independence Day with daughter and family on Whidbey Island, WA, last week Michigan and Arizona next month.  So nice to be with family and friends, even if the MI trip was a memorial service for a dear brother in law who passed last fall and next month in Tucson a memorial Mass for a longtime friend (and member of our wedding party) who died in May, 2020.  Neither death due to Covid-19.  Happily we will spend a few days in Phoenix with my mother and hopefully, visit with other family and friends.

Just checking back in this afternoon. I had heard of Petra, but had no idea of it’s strange beauty. It had not been on my bucket list and unfortunately between the walking and the heat, I’ll probably not make it there, but thanks to those who shared pictures, they were stunning.

I could not find a picture of my DBIL on stilts, but I am sharing a photo I did find, kind of what he looked like. Plasterers are much in demand for some of our oldest, most beautiful buildings here in St Louis. There are not as many craftsmen as there used to be. My DBIL is retired now, but some years ago he was plastering a stairwell at the St Louis Art Museum when his scaffolding broke and he fell two stories to the bottom. He recovered and returned to work, but with plates and pins in his feet. He continues to have leg and back pain related to it.

I toasted our celebration list with not one, but two glasses of Chardonnay at lunch! Tomorrow will be my long day at the hospital for my lumbar puncture, my final dose of trial drug. Will try to check in between fun tests.

Good evening. Thanks for the Daily.

I'm late today due to my eye appointment. My doctor was running a good bit behind due to an emergency patient. She had to fix a small hole in someone's cornea with Super Glue! My stitches are out, eye pressure is now normal and vision is better since last week. It was so hard to not blink during the suture extraction! Afterwards I took my BFF, who had driven me to my appointment, out for a belated birthday dinner. Luckily the restaurant wasn't crowded at the time, but I was still a little anxious.

Hmmm. Unusual days. Props to Korean War Veterans.

Good quote.

I'll pass on the meal, but like the drink and wine. I also like Roy's meal.

I haven't been to today's port. Thanks for the pictures.

@smitty34877 Continued prayers for Tana.

@StLouisCruisers Oh no on DMIL's fall out of bed. I've seen lots of low beds and pads for patients. Some patients are Houdini's - my mother who had dementia could get out of anything, including a posey vest restraint. I have back aches most mornings; I'm blaming my bed and need to get a new mattress set. Great pictures!

@kb4683  @Mtn2Sea Awesome pictures!

@Sharon in AZ Sorry to hear about your friend. So sad.

@St. Louis Sal Good luck with your procedure tomorrow.

Prayers for the care list and cheers for the celebration list.

Stay safe everyone.
