When you get to Juneau get the crab from one of the local crab places.  We stopped at the crab place near where the ship docks.  That night the ship was serving crab in the Main dining room.  I had to get it as I just had the crab in Juneau and wanted to compare.  I will not order the crab again on a cruise ship.

Nope- stayed onboard. They said it was because we had not been to another country. Test was 8:45 am on disembark/embark day- Sunday. Told to show up to Medical Center and I did. My name was on a list and told I would only hear from them if it was positive. No charge.

Thanks.  We will be doing eastern/southern/western caribbean (I think those), so we will have to get off then?  UGHHH

Interesting…we’ve had many UBDs & staff were never inside our cabin for 15 minutes at any one time. They’d quickly set up the table & delivered each course before leaving our cabin to either wait in the hallway or go to the galley for the next course.

Agree. Us too.  Regardless they are not doing them. I think it is more to do with staffing then COVID.

Thank you for another live thread. We leave in a month on a 3 day on the Majestic. No cabin assignment yet. However we did get assigned For our December 7 Mexican Riviera Cruz. We were assigned D123. Anyone been in that cabin? Looks like it’s all the way forward. It was an upgrade so I’m happy.

@JustBCruzNot sure if they still have this as a shore ex these days - Georges Inlet Lodge in Ketchikan. It was a crab expedition that showed you how they are caught and where. At the lodge, they serve up the freshest, sweetest crab - all you can eat. To die for! I haven't checked the lodge online lately; you can arrange for just a meal . It was offered in 2019. Good luck!

You're in luck. The George Inlet Lodge is open for a crab feast on Friday, Sept 10th -  Enjoy!

The casino has only six multi poker machines. Note that these are in the smoking section, if that bothers you.

When you say "multi poker machines" are you meaning only 6 video poker machines in total in the casino??

Nice win!  Those couple of poker machines that are on the ship now weren't there when we were on the Majestic in October 2019.  There wasn't poker of any kind on the ship and my hubby was unhappy.  He loved to play Holdem on the old PokerPro machines and at least the draw poker machines kept his interest for a short while when we were on the ship last month.

Not that I want to get into comparisons but… wow. So I was on the first return sailing of NCL Encore, which was at about the same capacity as this Majestic sailing.

I ate most of my meals at the buffet on NCL (TBH, it tends to be better than their MDR). Despite the ship being at lowered capacity, the food options at all meals was its usual breadth of variety.

I had embarkation day lunch at the Princess buffet and just returned from formal night dinner there (because I don’t do formal). Is… is this normal? At both meals there were maybe six different proteins plus various side dishes and accompaniments. Some grab & go salads and sides. When I finally found the breads, I only saw a couple different types of rolls. Nice variety of desserts though. Is this typical or is Princess keeping it simple while the passenger numbers are lower than usual?

(I mean, the food is pretty good, but sparse)

One of my table mates hit a $2,000 jackpot on one of the poker machines on Saturday night. 😊

Normal.  My husband and I never go into the dining room on a royal class ship because we’ve been so happy with the Buffet in the past. Last week’s cruise on the majestic was the only one where I’ve gone into the dining room.
I was disappointed in the lack of selection at this particular buffet, however. They didn’t have nearly as much as they have had in the past.
pre-Covid.  They used to have theme nights,  and on Italian night, for example,   no less than half a dozen pastas being cooked up fresh, in addition to all the carvery  meats.  Pre-Covid, they would have all these beautiful roasted vegetables every day.
don’t get me wrong, I ate there a couple times and the food was definitely palatable, but it just doesn’t have that wow factor anymore.  They used to have a selection of at least six different breads and this time I noticed they only had a couple types of rolls to choose from, not a huge deal, but once again , noticeable to me.
They used to have shrimp available at the buffet almost every day and/or every night and I only saw it up there one day.
but, in fairness, I didn’t go there at all at night this time, so they might’ve had it and I could’ve missed it.

they used to have a Mongolian BBQ up there at least once or twice per cruise and I didn’t notice that nor was it listed in the patter.  However, the noodle bar outside made up for the lack of the Mongolian BBQ.  Definitely a lot of changes in the buffet with the return to cruising.

I didn’t find the huge selection of other Asian-style foods  in the buffet,  either,  and I’m wondering if that’s because they’re trying to push people towards paying 29 per person to eat at Harmony.

One day, the noodle bar had chow mein, but you used to be able to get chow mein every day at the buffet. and stir fried veggies, rice, et cet, and it was so fresh.

Yes, per sign.   It is open 24 hours and I went at 4am today. Only one crew member cleaning so I did cheat and drop my mask periodically.  Several others showed up about 5am and they were not wearing masks. Nothing was said

we were there several times last week and never wore a mask. No one seemed to care.

Theee are six regular multi poker machines like the one in my pic. One is disabled. So really five. There are also four spin poker machines that are three draw or more.  That is it!

I am actually very disappointed in the casino machine options. Hate those newer slots. There are only six reel machines in the nonsmoking section three are quarter and three are dollar. Ten coins per max spin. Lost 100 in a few minutes n the dollar reel cause I was not paying attention.  Thank goodness hubby won the 1000.  Just waiting for them to send my the chocolate covered strawberries so hubby can figure out how much I have lost😁

No one seemed to care you weren't wearing a mask?

When clearly the signage asks that you do.

Or no one wanted to cause a confrontation by asking you to put your mask on indoors?

Only in certain parts of the ship are masks required.  The international cafe and Piazza are not required areas, there was no cheating going on.

TABLE SIZE ON THE BUMP-OUT BALCONIES ?

Are the tables on the bump out larger balconies the full height tables or the little knee-high snack sized tables?  We are going to be in R-416 next month but any similar size mini-suite info will help.

Cruise safe!

We are in c426 and it has full height table

They were discussing specifically the gym, and there have been reports that there is a sign outside the gym saying masks are required. Not saying anything about other locations on the ship.

Correct sign outside the gym that says masks required.  Can get a pic if needed. However I have been the only one wearing one.  Not a lot of people In there when I go and everyone keeps their distance so not really an issue.

I would say it’s highly unusual for princess to have buyers offer ends at the Buffay. Extremely unusual. Usually it’s the most gigantic Buffet you could even imagine.

I like to use the hot tub daily, mainly on Lido deck by the pool.  Our upcoming 28 days cruise will be March 2022.  Just curious if masking is required for the hot tub?  I know it is outside, but the hot tubs are small and always seem to be occupied with several people sharing it.

Thank you.

@coastcat How close to sailing were you able to make spa/enclave reservations on the personalizer? I'm booked on the Majestic on Oct 6th and still can't make spa reservations, yet I'm able to for my Nov 2022 cruise already. I called Princess and all they said was "closer to sailing or onboard". Not particularly helpful.
