I’ve been confused over that one. I know several people ( without risk factors, young) who have already gotten boosters ( weeks ago). And we hear it was now just approved….

Our local pharmacy was giving them to a lot of people early.  When the FDA was meeting to approve the boosters, the pharmacists wanted to wait until the issue was officially decided.  As soon as the rules said 65+ on Tuesday, we got ours

Good morning everyone and Happy Friday. Thank you for the Daily Rich and thank you for your lists Roy. Prayers to all on the Care list and an extra prayer for my Ladies Retreat friend’s son, Jakob. He is 7 and struggling with a Covid related lung infection and has been in PICU.  I just found out he had a good night and was weaned down to a lower level of oxygen.  But he gets uncomfortable and anxious and that makes it harder for him to breathe, so praying for him to stay comfortable and positive.

I haven’t been to Santa Barbara, someday I’ll get there. But we have been to Solvang twice in the 70’s. First time was on our honeymoon in 1974 and second time was later 70’s. We saw MacLean Stevenson shopping there with his daughter and this was during the heyday of Mash so that was fun.

I need to rush now. I’m going shopping with Craig and then we are going to lunch.

Have a great day everyone!

Aww poor Jakob.  My prayers for him 🙏🏻

He should be running around at 7 with his friends not stuck in hospital with a covid19 lung infection.

I hope he quickly recovers back to full health.

Wow! What a beautiful day for a ride with the top down! Here’s a tip. Do not laminate your vaccine card. Instead use a plastic sleeve. CVS called to clarify our appointment and said bring your vaccine cards. Then they asked if it was laminated. The booster shot should be on same card. They’ll make it right but just letting you know.

We were told in England we must wait 6 months after our second vaccine before we are eligible for the covid19 vaccine booster.

Here in our province, we’ll end up getting a new one if we get a booster.

But, I preferred to keep the original which is huge. (Letter size) so, took it in to Staples and they can shrink them to make into wallet size and passport size and I still have the original.  The copies are laminated - the original is as it was 😉

Works great to get into restaurants and other non essential services until Canada comes out with it’s International Vaccine passport

Our original credit card size  vaccine cards are not accepted anywhere as they are easy to forge.

We got our proof of vaccine put  onto our  NHS apps and I also rang for barcoded NHS headed A4 paper proof of vaccine for us both which was required by P&O for our 2 cruises in the last 4 weeks.

We don’t have an app yet.  New Brunswick is working on it.

I don’t know how easy it would be to forge ours since the actual label from the vial of dose is on the 2nd dose confirmation.

Along with the proof we have to show ID to insure it is ours.

Well, guys, we just bit the bullet and booked a cruise for this December.  I got a casino offer and DH said “book it” 🎉

It’s just a 5 day Caribbean on Regal Princess (sorry, not a BHB), but we can drive to FFL and get the heck outta here!

Get this, I got the offer (discount) and HE’S getting $200 casino free play.  Go figure??  Not complaining, it is soooo good to finally have something to look forward to.  Disembarked last cruise November, 2019.

I can see why they said it would be easy to forge.

Ours is different with full names, Medicare numbers, birth date, address, etc and proof of vaccine below - type, batch #, where it was delivered, who delivered it and the date.

Good afternoon.  I've finally found time to get on my laptop.  It was a busy morning.  I baked a German chocolate cake which is now cooling.  Later, I'll make the icing and get that finished.  The pork tenderlion for the Thai Pork is marinating.

It is a another nice day and not too hot.  We decided to take a shorter ride today in the Smart to chaarge the battery.  It basically gets driven to the store and back, about 4-5 miles one way.

@rafinmd Roy, thank you for the pictures of Santa Barbara.

@Sharon in AZ  Sorry that Jakob is so ill and PICU.  Sending good thoughts for his remaining comforthable and for a speedy and full recovery.

@grapau27  Graham, the first recommendation for the bosster was at 8 months, but it is now 6 months and the CDC just this morning added those 18-64 who work in jobs that place them at high risk of getting Covid, to those eligible for the booster.

@aliaschief  I read several months ago that it was not advisable to laminate the CDC cards, as laminating them could mess up the ink.  Not sure if that was true or not, but we kept ours in a plastic sleeve, and carried copies of the card with us.  We also have pictures of the cards on our phones.  We got an email letter from the Arizona health department that administered the first two shots.  I have copies of the letters in my purse, since they also show the date and the lot number of the dose.

@kb4683  Congratulations on the great offer.

Here is the recipe I use for Chicken Pamesan cooked in the air fryer.  It is basically the one I used before getting the air fryer.  I also took some ideas from an chicken Parmesan recipe in Air Fry Every Day by Ben Mims.  Over the past year, I have tweaked the recipe, so that now it comes our like it did when I used the oven.  The air fryer is much easier and doesn't heat of the kitchen very much.

CHICKEN PARMESAN

2-4 c bread crumbs                                             ¼ c chopped basil

grated Parmesan cheese                                    2 T flour

olive oil                                                                  ½ c tomato sauce

mozzarella or provolone slices                          chicken breasts

salt and pepper                                                    2 eggs

Place chicken breasts between two sheets of heavy plastic (resealable freezer bags work) on a solid, level surface.  Firmly pound chicken to a thickness of ½ inch.  Or with the knife blade parallel to the cutting board, slice the breasts in half horizontally.  Thin sliced chicken breasts are best, if you can find them.

Season chicken thoroughly with salt and pepper.

Beat eggs in a shallow bowl and set aside.  Mix bread crumbs and ½ cup Parmesan cheese in a separate bowl and set aside.

Place flour in a sifter or strainer, sprinkle over chicken breasts, evenly coating both sides.

Dip flour coated chicken breasts in beaten eggs, then place in breadcrumb mixture, pressing the crumbs into both sides.

Spray the tray with non-stick spray.

Spray the tops of the chicken with oil.  Set the temperature to 350oF and the time to 8 minutes.  When finished, turn chicken over, spray with oil and top with sauce, basil and cheese.  Cook at 350oF for 7 minutes. Cook until the cheese is browned and bubbly and the chicken breasts are no longer pink in the center, approximately 15 minutes, depending on the thickness of the chicken.  The internal temperature should be at least 165oF.

TIP:  I’ve found that when turning the chicken over or removing it, to use a fork to loosen it.  This helps keep most of the breading on the chicken and not on the tray.

If anyone has any questions, I'll do my best to answer them.

It'll be a quiet Friday here until later in the afternoon - DH and his band are the closing act for the Council on Aging's "Little Grand Old Opry" competition fundraising dinner this evening.  There are 5 acts who had to audition - because DH and his band had won the inaugural contest 5 years ago, they keep asking them to return to round out the show.  That means I get to go along (with the band), have a lovely dinner and enjoy the music. And wine.

Gerry:

What kind of band is this? What type of music do they play?

I am in a band as well.

Thanks for the pics. We were going to visit Santa Barbara next month but they don’t want cruise ships to visit this year. So we are now going to Catalina Island.

If you are ever in Santa Barbara with time to just enjoy walking the beautiful residential streets, a goal can be a visit to The Frog Shrine, a very long wall where people have for years been adding to the frog collection.   It’s quite a kick to see, especially given how upscale the neighborhood is.  A quick google will get you there.

Same here! We had several folks we know get them. Many got them at a Infection Control Clinic whom must determine each individuals risk factor. So your right and it was confusing and contradictory.

So much of everything around Covid has been confusing and contradictory. You don’t even know state to state or even county to county what the restrictions are. We just wear our mask, wash our hands, avoid crowds. My DH and I each got an email concerning the booster from the hospital which has treated me for ALS and DH for leukemia. But after reading it I didn’t think we qualified at that time (August 20) because DH was not actively receiving chemo and ALS isn’t mentioned at all. However DH questioned Walgreens when he went to pick up a prescription. They said it was walk-in and just a questionnaire to answer. So we walked in, read the form (wish I had snapped a pic), and one of the questions was whether you had a chronic disease where compromised  immunity might be an issue. Since most ALS patients end up on a ventilator I decided I could answer yes to that. Since DH is a leukemia survivor plus with Severe CAD he only has one fully functional artery, it was a yes for him. A yes answer wins you the booster. As it turns out CDC has outlined the requirements a little better so I think many people past 65 that have any health issues of heart or lungs or have had chemo in the past would qualify.
