I believe some of the waiters call them sticky buns. Hard to be sure from the photo but they have always had yummy  pecans in them.

They are worth dumping the diet for 😉

I didn’t mean to mislead if pecan pastries is the right request to make

Thanks to you and all the others who gave me info on the various names of the pastry! Looking forward to them on my next cruise 😋

Having difficulties again.  I do blame it partly on the ship’s internet and partly on CC, making me log in over and over.

I had a bit of a wander this morning and took a few pictures around the ship, mainly of the changes since we were last on board.  I tried to post them but all failed, will try again now.

The Lincoln Centre used to be the Explorers Lounge.  It is very popular, packed when there is a concert.  We have stayed away from crowds, so have not attended.  There are occasionally “chin maskers” and we are not taking any chances…

We had a letter this morning about our return to Italy.  If we don’t get off the ship in Venice we don’t have to update our PLFs, but may have to before we get to Naples on the next leg.  We do have to have antigen tests.

The Queen’s Lounge, re-invented as BB King’s venue.  Also very popular, we have not attended anything- but we might if we could get a booth all to ourselves.

We had breakfast delivered to the room this morning.

It was 15 minutes late (the toast was 20 minutes late!)

Perhaps it was because I changed so much of the printed order form, as I wanted two eggs over easy, english bacon, grilled tomato and baked beans, whereas Ellen wanted scrambled eggs, grilled tomato, hash browns, and baked beans.   In Room Dining called us twice to check exactly what our order consisted of.  Unfortunately, they still got it wrong. 😂

Colin has put his back out again.  We hope he is feeling better tomorrow and we have a date with him and Ellen for dinner in Tamarind…

The Gallery Bar, once the Disco, I think.  Full of interesting art.  4FEF1066-A879-4E1B-BE2A-9693480AE10E.thumb.jpeg.5bc69c5e4c3af91dbfdfc35b3493b1cb.jpeg

We have renamed this cruise as my 'Disasterdam' cruise.

Sunday night I twisted my ankle as I tripped down the last two steps of a staircase.  Spent that night in bed with an ice pack strapped round my ankle.  Monday morning and the pain had eased but was still a little stiff, so decided to 'walk it off' by walking round Rhodes old town.  That worked well and after lunch decided to sit out on the veranda to take some sun.  Without thinking I tried to move the lounger sideways and pulled my back again, but this time it seems much worse as the painkillers are not having a great effect on me.

I think it is time to hit the Solpadol Caplets (500mg Paracetamol and 30 mg Codeine).  They are prescription only, but I 'stashed' a few away after my root canal treatment.

I hope that they ease the pain a bit.

Northern Lights!  One of the staff mentioned that there is only one Dam ship that still has a Northern Lights disco, so today's trivia question...................Which ship still has Northern Lights?

Colin I’m so sorry to hear of your ankle and back pains!

I tried earlier to post photos of our day yesterday in Rhodes but CC is giving me fits again. Will see if this posts at all.

Khay must have been very busy last night, she was also our sommelier at 6 in the Tamarind. We got onto the subject of passengers who wear their masks around their chins or not at all, and she said she has been assigned occasionally as “mask enforcer” at BB King and Music Walk. We said good!!

We continue to be spoiled, as others have said the crew are amazing and the service has been top notch since we boarded almost 3 weeks ago. Great to see familiar faces too!

Well DAM 😔

I hope your back is feeling better quick.  Hopefully the painkillers work.

If they have Robaxacet in Europe, it can help a lot - a muscle relaxant.

Hope you are feeling better, fast Colin 🤞

So, are you saying that when I'm in the casino, I'll be forced to listen to the piano bar activities?

I really, really don't like piano bars.  Not that the entertainers aren't (usually) pretty good, but just that I don't like the concept.  The many popular songs that so many people seem to love are usually songs that I do not like.  At all.  Just because it was a hit doesn't mean it was good music.  JMHO.  I'm an admitted pop music snob.

Since the casino is my main evening entertainment, if the Billboard Onboard area isn't closed off at all, I'll be pretty disappointed.  I figured it was a separate room with, hopefully, a door but the pics look like it's entirely open.  🙁

Yes, the area between the casino and Billboard is open.  There is a passageway between.  If I’m in the area this evening, I will check how the sound carries.

This evening there are sessions in Billboard at 8:15, 10 and 11 o’clock.  Not sure how long they last

PS, Trivia is also held in Billboard 4 p.m and 6:30 today.

Ah.  I have cruise friends on the 5-night portion of my 12-night sailing on NA in December who have never sailed HAL before.  They're brining 18 and 21 yo granddaughters.  I have assured them there would be plenty of activities, including a disco.  I spent several late afternoon/early evenings in there on Zuiderdam during Happy Hours.

I imagine it being a library bar won't be nearly as enticing to them as a disco!  Oops.  Guess I should've looked at deck plans before spreading my misinformation!

It looks like a nice place to have a before-dinner drink.

Well, I'm already fairly deaf, so maybe earplugs won't be needed.

The reason I'm fairly deaf is from those years as a teenage girl standing in front of bands back in the 60s and early 70s.  All that VERY LOUD music didn't bother me then.  Now, I get really annoyed by it.  These performers in small venues need to realize they aren't the Beatles playing Shea Stadium.  You know? 😉

We went to happy hour for the first time this cruise, and it actually is 50% off your drink.  Don’t have to drink the same drink.

three menus, cocktails, beverages and wines.  This is the wine list.  I’ll try to remember to get the other lists next time…

Well, that makes for a happy Happy Hour!

It seems like a big improvement over the last few years when it was "buy one, get one (of the same) for a dollar or two".

If one does their cocktail drinking during happy hours, the 50% off certainly changes the calculus on the value of the drink packages and HIA.

LOL! Where my hubby grew up, “sticky buns” are cinnamon buns with or without pecans!🤣

Thank you for all the wonderful pictures, Ann!! I think your log in issues are from CC as I’m having the same problem near Indianapolis!
