Good morning, all! Emergency nurses deserve respect anytime, and in these times most of all. Fossils are fascinating. I have my doubts about Skeptics Day, though.
The meal sounds like a good one for the cold, damp, weather we’re having. We have never been to days port.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend at DS and BIL’s house! They’re youngest son and his DW were there, and our DD came with us. We fit the 5 guest restriction perfectly! DD carried on home to Saskatchewan after and we came back to Chilliwack. It’s the first time since early June we haven’t had one daughter or the other staying with us, and it feels strange.

My big news: HAL has listed a Holiday cruise on the Zuiderdam round trip out of Ft. Lauderdale right before the 2023 World Cruise. Our TA has booked us on it, in the same cabin as the GWV! AND she poked around and scraped up enough tag ends of FCC that the cost is less than flying home and back between the Grand Africa and the Grand World. All we need is two nights in a hotel after the GA. I’m pretty stoked about this!

Happy Wednesday, and cheers to the fleet of BHBs now back at sea!

Good morning!  Great collection of days!  ER Nurses are so appreciated and necessary, especially in a crisis!  Because I live in an area where there are lots of fossils found, I feel like that is me some days/most days!  For me, I prefer M&M Day over Skeptics day.

My doctor visit and CT yesterday didn't turn out so well.  Guess my lungs are getting a little worse, and I have to increase inhaler usage and start with nebulizer treatments.  Oh well, my aftereffects of being at Ground Zero aren't so bad--others have more problems, and I have had a very good run in the 20 years since then.  I will do what the doctor ordered, as it still lets me continue cruising and traveling!

Today's recipes sound good.  I am just a little conflicted about it, though.  I will eat grits every morning, but really don't like hominy which is the key ingredient to make it Posole!  I know weird!

@Sharon in AZ, I loved your picture of the Golden Gate bridge!  Our first cruise on the Noordam ('84) we sailed into San Fran right at sunrise.  Lots of the passengers were on the outside decks to watch and everyone was freezing!  What a sight and a sure way to get us hooked on cruising.

Still getting intermittent rain showers and I know there will be some of the white stuff in the mountains east of here.

Have a great day!

I'm sorry to hear of your lung issues, but happy you should be able to continue your traveling.  We're all missing our cruises!

I can verify how cold it is sailing under the Golden Gate bridge before daylight.  I was on the bow of the ship so the wind chill was unbelievable.  2012 Star Princess Rio to San Francisco, our only time sailing into that city (and never out of SF).

Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily.

Good days. A particular kudo for emergency nurses. It's good to be a little skeptical. Fossils are interesting.

Hmmm on the quote.

The meal sounds good. Pass on the drink, but the wine sounds good.

I haven't been to today's port. Thanks for the pictures.

It's warm again today, but by Sunday the temps will be dropping. I need to get out and spray around the house for stink bugs, which they say will be plentiful this year. They've been not much of a nuisance the last couple of years. BFF wants to go out to eat. We'll go early to avoid a crowded place; better if they have some outside seating.

@JAM37 Sorry to hear about DH's cough, and hopefully it subsides soon.

@mamaofami Praying the aide continues to test negative and your family remains well.

@cruzn single Sorry to hear about the test results, but glad that you're still able to cruise! Take care.

Prayers for the care list and cheers for the celebration list.

Stay safe everyone. Our positivity rate here is still at 6.5%; not good.

We lost satellite this morning as tech connected to a new satellite. I believe earlier I stated they were checking for wine/liquor at security check. I believe I said cover charge when I meant to say corkage fee!

Our Cruise Director/ XChange Officer gave a great lecture this morning on the Deep Blue Sea. She is an outstanding speaker.

I have seen what I believe was card Bridge lessons. Tonight there is time set aside for ballroom dancing using the BB King venue. Not sure if that will be taped music or house band. Tonight we have Olympic gymnast Lance Ringlet SP? People were raving about last night’s dance show which we missed while dining in PG.

We are still having a perfect time, on smooth seas,  on a great ship with fantastic crew.

We received notice that we will be receiving a free Covid test Friday.

Long wait getting Allen's allergy shot at the clinic this morning. A little 99 year old lady came in gasping for breath. They called emergency on the overhead and the nurse who was going to give the shot and 3 others rushed to take her.

Meanwhile we explained Allen's covid card and his my-chart dates don't match. So next week we take his original card in and they will make him a new card. The nurse said she keeps her card in the safe!

I totally forgot about our 2 bottles of wine at embarkation in San Diego and we checked that bag instead of carrying it on board. The wine was taken out and that bag was hand delivered and we were told that the 2 bottles would be held until the end of the cruise. I asked if we could pay corkage and get them now. Finally we were given permission to do that. I tried to get my 2 bottles free but it didn’t work. Weird because there wasn’t a desk at embarkation to declare wine. Oh well, I wasn’t going to push the issue.

Yesterday was the first day we saw them checking for wine/liquor. I was told at first they weren’t enforcing as they didn’t want to put the corkage fee collection while wait staff transitioned to also doing wine service.

I believe as the fleet returns to cruising there may be different policies from ship to ship at the start.

I'm really sorry to hear you have lung issues from ground zero 20 years ago.

Hopefully your new treatment will keep you cruising for a long time to come.

Take care.

I'm so sorry to hear this.  Many first responders at Ground Zero have the same pulmonary issues.  Someone I know is on oxygen a good part of the time.  Many Americans don't understand the magnitude of the sacrifice first responders make.

I'll would definitely celebrate M&M Day, especially if they were peanut M&Ms, that is if there were any in the house.  😀

Sharon, love the picture of the Golden Gate Bridge.  We sailed into and out of SF in 2000 on the P&O World Cruise.  Definitely an experience not to be missed if at all possible.

Sorry your doctor visit didn't go quite as planned.  Glad there are medications that can help and that you will be able to keep cruising.  Everyone who worked at Ground Zero deserves all the recognition they can get.  Thank you.  Glad you are still getting some much needed rain.

While you had to wait, it's good to know the staff can react quickly to an emergency.  Glad Allen is getting his Covid card aligned with his my-chart.  We also keep our card in the safe.  I carry copies of the cards and we also have pictures of the cards on our phones.

Debbie, I couldn't agree more.  First responders take on jobs that most people would not want to tackle.  They deserve our respect.

Good afternoon from a very windy central Texas.  The forecast is for us to finally get rain, thunderstorms and showers between 5 pm and 11 am tomorrow.  I'll believe it when I see it; as we were supposed to have rain everyday from Sunday through tomorrow.  All we got was a 10 mimute downpour Sunday night that was about 1/4 iinch n total.

I finally finished everything I intended to do today, along with things that had to be done today or tomorrow.   The house is cleaner, but I only did a light cleaning since I know that by the time we get back from Quartzsite next spring, it will need vacuuming and dusting.  Still, it should not need a heavy cleaning for a week or so.

Right now, our plans are to leave Friday morning, unless the weather throws us a curve.  We can make the trip in two very long days, but are planning to take four easier days.  Almost everything is loaded on the motorhome and all the tires were checked to see if they had the correct pressure.  Tomorrow, it should mainly be getting the last mnute things loaded.

Depending on the internet, I plan on reading the Daily and commenting if possible.  Since my computer will be put away, I won't be able to post pictures, since they're not on my phone or tablet.

This reminds me of @kazu Jacqui's meme about the biggest lie I tell myself about remembering things.  I learned several years ago to make lists, especially for what to take in the motorhome and on a cruise.  We've been know to forget things.  There are also lists about what needs to be done to close the house up for several months, and what food and other things, I left in each house.  That works as long as the computer doesn't lose them.  😁

BTW, after seeing some of the other pictures of today's port, I realized I got my pictures of La Serena and Vicuna mislabeled.  Sorry about that.

Now, I think I'll go relax with my book for a while.

You're right, good news about the moved up doctor appointment but sorry you have to have that diagnostic mammogram tomorrow. They may want to do an ultrasound as well.  My wish is it's a cyst and nothing more serious.  You'll definitely be at the top of my prayer list.  🙏

@1ANGELCAT, glad your appointment is sooner.  I can so relate to the mammogram issues.  Just went through a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound about 3 weeks ago.  My "unusual" find is thought to be a lymph node in a not so common place.

Sending prayers for good news.  Hope you get your results as soon as I did--while I was still on the bed for the ultrasound!

Stopped in Coquimbo on the Zaandam in 2019. Loved the Cruz del Tercer Milenio (Third Millennium Cross). We didn't see any tours that interested us that day, so just did a walk about through the town and up the steep hill to the cross. We went up into the cross and saw the museum that is located in the cross-bars. There is a chapel under the cross and numerous sculptures situated all around the grounds at the cross. One of the wild dogs that were so prevalent around town seemed to be guarding one of the sculpture scenes, but I think she was actually watching over her puppies that were behind the sculpture.
