My husband would never leave the area holding his cigar, nor have I noticed anyone else do that. But there are some self-entitled types around sometimes. The barman should certainly have advised the passenger that smoking is not permitted at the bar. And not served said passenger! Something so out of place tends to stick in one's memory. It only happened once and the bartender did sort it.

Not everyone is fully clothed in white. It's not at all unusual to see a man in khaki pants, often worn with a white shirt.

Lazy and repetitive.. No substantial change ever and having two fillet options on the Prime C menu to fill a space is very lazy. Writing a menu and throwing in a few French words to hide repetitive options is not clever. The whole concept feels dated in the offering. The actual overall experience is so far removed from anything premium it’s almost an insult to pay a supplement to dine there. More tabled jammed in both venues and a very lacking choice of options. That said, I will still eat there and happily pay. My comments are more frustration at the lack of vision than criticism. My recent experiences were totally both excellent in Aqualina and Prime C. Lovely, relaxed service and delicious food that was plated and presented well.

It's not at all unusual to see a man in khaki pants, often worn with a white shirt. I’ve seen lots of robes, especially in cooler climes. It’s supposed to be a fun night, not necessarily elegant but certainly not a night when the dress code police should be out checking you are in white. Some folks over hype both the dress requirements and the experience. Given luggage weight restrictions and general economics, it’s not always possible for people to buy and bring a particular coloured outfit for one nights wearing. My DH does not have white trousers, he wears a white polo (golf) shirt he has. That’s the extent of his nod to white and is quite acceptable. I’ve also seen white T shirts from soccer and sports events being worn and long sleeved office shirts. The OP might find her husband has something like that he can bring. For the ladies, one cruise director says “something with white in it” we’ve all got a top or dress like that. Not you note “something white”. Theres the difference! I’ve seen ladies in light, not white tops with a white feather boa or white beads. So get creative and don’t feel obliged to miss the event or go out and spend money!
Grandma Cruising Posted August 28, 2022 #1880 Share Posted August 28, 2022 (edited) Totally agree with uktog. It’s a fun night where most people make an effort to wear something with white in/on it. My husband also wears beige trousers with a white polo or long sleeved shirt ( depending on the climate). I take white trousers, a sleeveless white and a long sleeved white top, both of which also look great with black trousers for dinner another night, as do the white trousers with a different coloured top. I definitely wouldn’t call it an elegant night, though certainly some guests do look elegant! Edited August 28, 2022 by Grandma Cruising

Rare uktog Posted August 28, 2022 #1883 Share Posted August 28, 2022 I wish they’d have rainbow nights. Would be so much less stressful add a new playlist and it would retick the boxes for me. Question what makes the night good? Weather permitting all together on the deck, some music and great food. It’s not what we are wearing 😀

But rainbow, I could happily do! 5

Rare woodards Posted August 31, 2022 #1889 Share Posted August 31, 2022 On the Quest now. White night is on Friday in Bordeaux and haven’t brought anything white (never have TBH). First night evening meal in Discoveries was exceptional. Great service and food. Short wait to get seated but nothing major. Boarding was pretty straightforward 20 mins wait in queue for check in and then a short wait for an escort onto ship. Then straight into Discoveries for the safety briefing which took about 15 mins tops. Full lunch buffet was provided plus the Patio was open too. As far as we could tell everything was as per our previous experience with Azamara with exception of crew wearing masks. Very few guest mask wearers currently. So keeping everything crossed it stays that way. Great to be back onboard after a three year hiatus with lots of familiar faces from a crew perspective.

My sister and her hubby (for Uktog's benefit, a Wee Gee from Gifnock) are on board Quest for their first Az cruise. We had a What'sApp running commentary until around 21:30 last night and they seem to be loving it. As they toured they ship after boarding they stopped at a few bars and met fellow passengers from Ayr and Glasgow so you can imagine what carnage that will lead to (see above) as the cruise continues. However, this is what makes Azamara special. When we were onboard Onward in June we got talking to one of the senior officers and I explained about my sister and hubby having booked their first Az cruise. I was asked to write a hand written note welcoming them to their first Az cruise, and when they arrived onboard yesterday my handwritten note was waiting for them at their cabin.

What a lovely gesture! I suppose some of the "bigger" lines would have charged for this plus an 18% gratuity. LOL

Riocca Posted August 31, 2022 #1894 Share Posted August 31, 2022 Currently on Quest and in a CC suite this is the option now replacing the 4 half bottles of spirits. And on the Ultimate Package this is the champagne offering in replacement for the NF.

Rare uktog Posted August 31, 2022 #1896 Share Posted August 31, 2022 The replacement is a much cheaper product based on UK prices. It’s £15.99 whereas Nicolas is £23.99 in Asda

I think that at least part of the ‘one bottle of liquor’ is that the smaller bottles that they used to offer two of are not easy to get right now. The Champagne choices, I can’t excuse. I like nice Champagne, and they need to pull their socks up. 1
