That is horrible😳Go to medical and tell them you were pushed against the wall!

Thanks for your concern Dani, but I’ll be fine. I’ve done worse, and I’ve been stupider. The night is young and I have a full seaday tomorrow God only knows what’s going to happen tomorrow.

I also apologize for any bad grammar, bad spelling or profanity for the rest of the day. I believe I am thoroughly medicated and feeling no pain

I intend to stay well clear of the casino tonight. There is no doubt that I would be bankrupt before evenings end.

So just a quick update.

Lunch ended up being at Playmakers.

The burger and fries were incredible. DW had wings and said they were excellent.

So tragedy he struck afternoon…

Filled with bad decision juice I decided it was time for for first Flowrider attempt. No you need to understand, that I have an extremely bad knee. I have a meniscus that is effectively nonexistent and I have an MCL that desperately require surgery. All these things are from accidents from years ago from a life poorly lived. No you need to understand, that I have an extremely bad knee. I have a meniscus that is effectively nonexistent and I have an MCL that desperately require surgery. All these things are from accidents from years ago from a life poorly lived. Some might say a life well left, but in my current state of pain I’m going with poorly lived.

in the past when I have done the Flo Rider I have always done the belly boarding version of it. I was reasonably successful usually able to hop up onto my knees and then float around. However this time, after seeing several people doing the upright version of it and it looking so simple I decided to throw my lot in with them. As you can well imagine this was met with utter defeat.

I crashed and burned with such epic proportion that I’m sure every single person watching laughed until they were ill. Sadly for me, this means my knee looks not dissimilar to a small watermelon. I’m creeping around like I’m 117 years old.

I am currently back on deck 15 Right next to the lime in the coconut listening to the band and self-medicating with rum.

it is with great apologies that I must tell you that there are no pictures or videos of my colossal failure at the Flowrider.

Lol I think you attempted flow rider on liberty and then said you learned your lesson stay off it. Hahahahaha

..and there again. And next time you wouldnt be able to say no and the missus will be yelling at you.

No pictures lol. Well it is friday, so almost over. Just keep drinking and you wouldn't remember it hurts.

You almost certainly don't feel the same way, but this to me is the biggest tragedy of your story.  Since you didn't mention it, I assume that you were able to keep your bathing suit on?

yes that’s right. That’s a single day score of 180 b4 dinner.

That explains the decision to try stand-up.

I’m a skier and not a snowboarder. Someone said that snowboarding skills transfer well to the flow rider. Skiing skills are worthless apparently. Drunk skiing skills are worth even less.

Whatever you do stay the hell away from the rock climbing wall!!  One thing you may want to try is the bumper cars.  You may be able to claim the first OUI at sea.

Hope your knee is better tomorrow.  Self-medicating may or may not be the right thing to do!  Would a compression wrap help?  In that case, you should see if one is available in the vending machine next to medical.  Or the nearest pharmacia at your next port stop.

I'm intrigued by the Boston Iced Tea.  Do all the bartenders know how to make it?    I fell in love with the Beverly Hills Iced Tea, served on Princess.  Tried to get one on Carnival, but even at the Alchemy Bar, it wasn't known.  It's all the white liquors (tequila, rum, gin, vodka, plus one I can never remember).  Instead of a splash of coke, it's a splash of sparking white wine.  Served in a tall glass (like a Pilsner glass, but with a wider bottom), with a strawberry.  I may have to try another Princess cruise -- at least on one of their new ships; dislike the older ones 😉

@Tree_skier Hi Dave I apologize that I’m late to this fantastic review from you. I’m recovering from Knee replacement surgery last week so I have not been around. Sounds like you may need knee replacement after your Flow Rider experience. 😉

I’m loving all the cocktails you are trying. You are truly a champion. Cheers to you. You might have explained it earlier and I missed it or it’s just the Oxycodone making me fuzzy, how are you doing your scoring? Is that regular price vs average if having the DBP? Just curious how you get the numbers for your score? I’d like to try that on my next cruise.

I really need to try the giant meatball appetizer at Giovanni’s, that looks amazing. Pretty much a meal in itself. Looking for a new drink try the “Sea Dog Old Fashioned.”

1oz Bourbon

1oz Rye

1/2 oz simple syrup

1/2 Melitti Amaro or a substitute like Montenegro, or Angostura Bitters.

So glad I found this thread. Have a great time and thank you for your always fantastic review.

Ouch!  Too bad I wasn't there.  I would've taken pictures and videos. You were in pain after dancing to the 2 requested Journey songs in the Star Lounge on Liberty.  That was fun, by the way.  And I have pictures.  DH got pretty banged up, too on the Flowrider last month.

That is one spectacular dessert!!!

We will be experiencing Wonderland for the first time in April.  I am trying to understand how you order from the menu. It reminds me of a tasting menu. Can you order an item from each catergory (sun, Ice, fire, earth and sea)?

Thank you to all for well wishes. I will be ok.  This is something that I have dealt with on and off for years.  Both the meniscus and MCL were damaged years ago and I resisted surgery, opting instead for physio therapy.  Physio is no longer helping and I know the next step.  My dr recommended an MRI and a referral for possible surgery.  I asked to try a little physio again to see if it would com back.  That was 10 months ago.  I continue to do stupid things.  There is only one answer…

It is feeling stiff and in some pain this morning but not intolerably so. While the rock wall is off the agenda for the day 🤣 the rest of the ship is my oyster.  I’m feeling pretty good otherwise.

As an update on last night LA vation were good again.  They didn’t change the show up as much as I hoped but it was still very entertaining.

The knee is locked firmly inside my brace and breakfast is calling…

I’ll catch you up later.

I waited till now to tell you how much I enjoyed following your escapades on this cruise.

Hope the knee gets better.

Cannot wait till all of us get to meet one another on the Bella cruise.

To think, if someone starts a thread of that journey with all the posters participating, it would be awesome.

Take care

You can order pretty much anything you want. I told the waiter we weren’t adventurous and for him to recommend. We let him pick our food and he picked well.

The first times we went, we let the waiter pick for us, and we got a variety of items from a variety of categories.  The last couple times, we told them what we wanted.  A few items from some categories, one entree each, and we split our favorite dessert (the world).  The waiter really wanted to give us a second dessert but we declined since we were so full 🙂

Hope your self medicating is going well.  I can totally relate to this.  The last time I tried the standup I was dealing with a bit of a pinched nerve that was sort of on the mend until, like you, I wiped out and was thrown into the back wall against my bad shoulder.  A couple of acupuncture sessions on board ($$$) and a lot of Advil made the 24 hour drive home tolerable
