Just got off the Emerald Princess and the crew we talked with had no idea if they would be included in the mask is recommended on 1 March. At the CCParty the Captain told us about the 1 March change for wearing masks but didn’t say anything about a change for the crew’s masking. Our room steward got his 4th shot along with 2 Tylenols. He and others told us they were tested once a week.

latserrof Posted February 28, 2022 #286 Share Posted February 28, 2022 I'd bet that Princess will keep the mask requirement for crew. Although Princess says passenger safety is its top concern, Princess has even more interest in keeping its crew Covid free.

My cousin got her shots in the Philippines, but when she arrived in Canada, she managed to get either Pfizer or Moderna shots as well.
minnesotasisu Posted March 1, 2022 #289 Share Posted March 1, 2022 (edited) We boarded the Enchanted Princess today (February 28) and they will not be enforcing the mask mandate even though this cruise departs before March 1. Masks are "recommended" but not required. There are a few places such as shops and the casino that have signage saying that masks are required but we still see people not wearing their masks. I don't think most people on this cruise are yet aware of the "recommendation" as mask wearing was more common earlier in the day but we now see more and more people not wearing masks. To each their own. The crew is still required to wear masks at all times. I feel sorry that they have to still do so. What parameters do you intend to use in order to stop masking?

I'm trying to figure out how we leave our cabin without our mask and venture to another venue and then there is a sign that says "this area requires a mask" and my mask is back in my cabin.... (Again, thinking that's just a CYA notation, if needed but doubtful it will be needed) What says the wise peeps on here? I would say it's highly likely that Princess staff will be everywhere happily handing out masks to anyone that wants one. Along with the ubiquitous hand sanitizer. I will admit though that I’m a bit nervous with increased occupancy and no mask mandate. There is another thread where the poster said he and at least one other passenger tested positive at the end of his cruise and could not continue on to the next segment unless willing to sail in a quarantine cabin for at least 5 days. The point is that this person who wore a mask on the ship as required and was among other masked passengers/crew contracted Covid. It may have happened on the ship or it may have happened on shore. But because he was wearing a mask and other passengers were appropriately wearing masks, it is unlikely that he (unknowingly) spread the virus to others while on board. But if his cruise had operated under the new rules, it is likely he could have unknowingly infected other passengers not wearing masks. Covid is still around with an unacceptable number of people getting infected every day. In my opinion, removing the indoor mask mandate on cruise ships is not the wise choice at this time.
minnesotasisu Posted March 1, 2022 #297 Share Posted March 1, 2022 As it has said before, if you feel threatened by perhaps contacting COVID on a cruise perhaps you shouldn't be cruising yet. 5
