Scissors policy on Celebrity (carry on or checked?)

Can anyone tell me of a recent experience (2021 or 2022) regarding scissors or can you tell me the official policy. I called Celebrity and they said 4" or smaller was permissible but he could not tell me definitively whether checked or carryon. Appreciate it.

I've carried a small pair with me (they're 4"...remind me kids craft scissors)...I tuck them into my jewelry bag which I pack in my carry-on.  That was Edge in 2021 and more recently Reflection a few weeks ago.  They have gotten through security at the airport and on the ship.

What you were told is correct. Put them in your checked luggage. That way no issues with the airline or the cruise line.

Under What not to bring along -  they list:  *Sharp Objects, including knives and scissors.

 

Under the * it states - *Personal grooming items such as safety razors are allowed. Scissors with blade length less than 4 inches are allowed."

Scissors are packed in checked luggage both for air travel and cruise.

Checked or carry-on probably won’t matter. Might as well put it in the carry-on

I suspect the carry on or luggage check doesn't matter.   Airport security allows scissors up to 4".   I would think what would be allowed on an airplane would be allowed in hand luggage.  I personally would just drop them in my suite case to remove any problems.

Under 4 inches is easy to accomplish. I pack a bag of scissors and tape in my checked bag. I have needed to use those two items many times on trips and have always been thankful I’ve had them with me.

Have flown domestically for years with small scissors and knitting needles without any problem.  The same bag always is in my carry on boarding the ship, again no problems.

Small scissors are good to go. I've carried EMT shears in my carry on luggage on planes and ships for years. Just got off a cruise last weekend. My wife brings small scissors as well.

We were called to the naughty room about 6 years ago on Infinity for nail scissors in our luggage

I would put them in your carry-on to avoid your bag being sent to the naughty room by mistake.

 As others have said it should not be a problem. I always take a pair of scissors meant for little kids. I called them kindergarten scissors and I’ve never had a problem.

Correct as far as the cruise goes. Has to be in checked luggage for the airline if you need to travel by air.

Might depend on how large they are. I have traveled with small scissors in my carry on to be used with stitching projects (also small embroidery needles) for years and have never had a problem with getting them through TSA security at the airport.

TSA confiscated my metal nail file and my little nail scissors (in Dec)

It also depends on whether the flight or cruise is foreign or domestic. 

I have had embroidery scissors (less than 4") both ignored and confiscated on some of the lines we sail.
