One interesting note, though. Our son back home also has an iPhone and even though my iPhone now only works on the ship’s intranet, we can still text each other using my iPhone.

Nope. My iPhone cellular data was still turned on. That’s why the text went through. Once we set sail and I turned it off, we weren’t able to text anymore.

Two things.

1.  Apple iMsg works on wifi only.  No cell service needed.  As long as you are texting to another iPhone. Make sure airplane mode is ON and wifi is ON.  Keep this set up on both of your devices.  It only the internet access that needs to switch between them not the Intranet.

2.  The easy way to switch between devices is to type login.com in the url on the new device and it will bring up the screen that tells you you are logged on to another device and asks if you wish to connect to the current device.

I was on the ruby last week and texted with my daughter and sister at home throughout the cruise.

Areas not given a "refresh" with new furnishings/fabrics during the last major drydock in 2019 are of most interest - Princess Theater, Crown Grill, Explorers Lounge, Wheelhouse Bar, Club Fusion and Skywalkers Nightclub and the Lotus Spa/Gym all still retain their original furnishings/fabrics and decor, so most interested to see if anything was done in those venues.

Thanks in advance and enjoy your cruise!

Here are some pictures of the various areas you requested pictures of. From what the crew said whom I talked with in these areas, there have been no recent renovations to their knowledge.

Here are the internet download speeds while in port and later on the high seas. Just want to note the internet has been good enough to upload these pictures in seconds rather than minutes.

Later on after on the high seas after leaving port

@Ken the cruiser Thank you so much for the photos. The ship looks in excellent shape, and the crew is correct that the decor remains relatively unchanged. I think the chairs in the Crown Grill and Wheelhouse bar have new fabrics since I last sailed her, but that made have been done in the 2019 refit.

I will be looking forward to sailing along with you on the rest of your trip!

@Ken the cruiserWe cruised in February on the Regal.  I didn't turn off cellular data but just turned on airplane mode and had wifi on.  I discovered I could text to other iPhone users but also do FaceTime.  I have read on here that one can also turn on wifi calling to talk to someone on the phone but don't know if your carrier has to allow it.

On our picture taking adventure this evening, we also stopped by Guest Services and the official passenger count is 1,650 for this cruise, and with the double occupancy capacity of around 3,142, that’s roughly 52% full.

Hi Ken,

How do you find out the passenger count? Do they post it or do you need to ask them at Guest Services? Do they give any upgrades since the ship is only half full?

Sharon

Thank for posting, I would love it if you could post some of the patters so i could see which bands are playing and which venues are being used if possible and not too  much trouble

Hi Ken,

Thanks so much for all the great info. If you have a moment could you see if they left one of those little blue tote bags in the room?  We had one on our trip in Jan on Regal hanging up in the closet  and were hoping there was one this time around also.
