New ideas of perks that could be offered

Let’s come up with some ideas for new perks Princess could offer loyal pax and/or paid opps for anyone onboard! Who knows if Princess reads these threads, but if they do, 🤞 they make note of our suggestions, and just maybe we’ll see some of them put into place!

My top request would be for the opportunity to have breakfast in Sabatinis/Crown Grill without staying in a suite.

After experiencing it when we had a suite, I can still recall the scrumptious flavors of breakfast and have reallllllly wanted to experience it again. I know I would be highly motivated by it being offered as a loyalty reward or as a paid specialty restaurant experience like they already offer for dinner or both.

I wouldn’t think it would cost Princess that much to offer it as an Elite perk as they’re already serving pax breakfast anyway. Sure, they couldn’t have 600 Elites showing up every morning, but they could give Elites a voucher for 1 breakfast there per cruise or do a drawing for cruise-long access at the Captain’s Circle party.

No, no, no. A thousand times no.

If one wants it badly enough, BUY A SUITE!!

Why would they add new upper tier perks when they have been removing the existing ones?

This.  The idea is to attract new customers and escort the old ones off the ship.  Our day as Elites has come and gone.

You want to get real about what the future should look like?  Here goes:

  • Kids sail free (they already did this and will surely do it more often.)
  • Ocean Trek Themed Cruises.  Instead of "1980s Themed Cruises" there will be cruises geared toward families with tween and teen children.  Meet and greet opportunities with Jeff Corwin where he is on board to serve as the Naturalist or guest lecturer.
  • Christmas in the Caribbean Themed Cruises in December with a focus on family entertainment, games, parties, etc.
  • Complimentary Classic Soda Package for all passengers under the age of 21.

It's more likely that the future is going to look like this than it is for Princess to start giving away more freebies to people who are on their 65th cruise.

On my last cruise there were 1200+ elites. Divide that by the 14 open mornings and you have 85 elites per day plus suites. Not 600 but how many does Sabatinis hold? Can it accommodate another 85 per day? Ya wanna read all the angry posts by Elites (of which I'm one) that either cannot get in on their morning of choice or at all? Or should everyone be told they need to eat in less than an hour? No lingering over a cup of coffee? Or does Princess just omit well attended arts & crafts??

Suggest we keep brainstorming ....

Great idea!! Would like a naturalist on my GBR cruise!! And someone could've pointed out Northern Lights on my last cruise. Enrichment speakers onboard now. Portuguese lessons by a member of the entertainment staff on my last cruise too. Room was packed 😁

At this point, profit is more important to Princess than actual hospitality.

They are not interested in rewarding us.

Giving us "stuff" just gets in the way of paying off their massive debt.

How about allowing us to bring on our own supply of wine without charge? Maybe limit it to those who have the beverage package so this "perk" would actually save them money.  I would prefer to have wines of my choice.

An intriguing idea. But I think it would only work at the Premier level. Since one can already bring unlimited wine on board for $20 per bottle, at $50 per day for Plus, the math does not work. $15 per day for gratuities. $10 value for internet. Add one bottle of wine per person at $20 and that brings the value of Plus up to $45 which means the monetized value per day of the drinks package is $5 per day. That is a loser for the ship. But at $75 per day it might work.

I've been bringing on 2 bottles at embarkation,  1 more mid cruise, & not charged since restart

What about comping the 'good' wine tasting for those over ××× days?? Not Grapevine tasting but good stuff (currently $25pp so not really pricey for PCL). Maybe over 500 days?

Add flowers for every cruise over 750 days?

If you cruise for perks then maybe cruising is not for you anymore.  After 60+ cruises, the perks don't mean much to me.  I just want to cruise and stay healthy while on board.  I would rather they up their game on quality of food, entertainment vs come up with give aways.

Not practical.  Princess specialty restaurants are not very large and we've been on cruises with over 1500 elites!

I love Sabatini's breakfast. It's one of the reasons we chose a suite. It's a quiet, almost private experience where you're waited on by everyone. It would lose its charm and magic if it became a busy and noisy experience. I understand the desire to enjoy it, but opening it up to the bazillion elites would ruin it. Fact is, the suite perks are already very limited on Princess compared to other lines. The value for the price paid is pretty low on Princess for suite guests.

Fact is, I think Princess is in the same boat that many airline loyalty programs find themselves, with far too many people qualifying for the upper levels. When everyone is special, nobody is special. :) At least with the airlines you have to re-qualify almost annually. With Princess you accrue over a lifetime. You have children hitting Platinum and Elite that they benefit from for the rest of their lives (thanks mom & dad). It's not a sustainable model. My daughter hit Platinum on her third cruise (3 suites = 6 cruises).

Princess really should look at phasing out the old program and creating a new program altogether with real benefits that matter the most for the next generation of long term customers. They're clearly already targeting a new type of customer that will sustain them over the next 20 years, they need a program that compliments them.

No, the point is that if I do not bring any wine on, I drink Princess's wine. They pay for that. If I bring my own wine on board, then they save money since I do not drink their wine. I know that their wine is the $5 a bottle version but it is still cheaper for them to not have to serve it to me.  I want to bring on wine with no corkage fee.

What they really need is a category above Elite. Say 500+ days or 50+ cruise. That would thin the herd out a bit and give the upper group a few new perks. I would like  a night in the Specialty dining area of my choice.

I think they would rather collect the $20 per bottle than let you bring unlimited wine on for free. Unless the trade off is that by bringing on your own wine as part of Plus, you forfeit the beverage portion of the package. I don’t think you can have unlimited coffee, soda, beer and cocktails and receive free corkage and have that make sense financially for $25 per day.  You say that if you bring your own wine you won’t consume anything from the ship. But is that really true when all the offerings of the package are taken into account?  If you consume as little as $5 per day of other beverages, the ship loses.

The point of a perk is that it is of benefit to me not them. If I bring on wine, I drink less beer and cocktails (I do not drink coffee or sodas) and that is of benefit to them.

I would like to get back our limited free internet minutes as a perk.  They were sufficient for our needs.  Now we get a discount (in obc) to buy unlimited internet.  It would be nice to give us a choice of what internet perk we receive instead of taking away a free perk that we actually used.

Probably not possible as I don't believe it is no longer metered by the minute, just by the day.
