Merry Christmas, Dailyites!  We're just off to church, so I'll get back later.  Good news here is that Vancouver Airport announced last night that they are back to 93% capacity, whatever that means!  I'll say a prayer for you all at Mass.

Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily!  Merry Christmas from DH and I to all my Daily family; whether you celebrate Christmas or not, I wish you a time of peace, happiness and good health.

Like some of you, we’re sitting in the glow of a Christmas tree, waiting for the grands to wake up and start the shrieks of delight that could soften even the hardest of hearts.  The cinnamon buns are cooling on the counter, the buns are rising in the pans, and we’re enjoying the moment.

We had our Christmas ham yesterday, so today we’ll enjoy turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, a mixture of vegetables, and for dessert, birthday cake, as I celebrate another trip around the sun.  And wine.

Prayers for all who are in need,  loud cheers for everyone who is celebrating.  Be safe, stay well.

Smooth Sailing!  🙂🙂🙂

Gerry.

Happy Birthday, Gerry! May your new year be filled with laughter, love, great health and a cruise!

Just went above freezing in the Tampa Bay FL area (33 degrees). And Frostproof, Florida kept its name intact. Did not reach freezing (34 degrees)

Did some research before moving here. This seemed like a reasonably safe place to escape freezing winter weather.  So far, so good.  It has worked out well and a lovely community.

Merry Christmas!

Happy Birthday @ger_77!

DS and DDIL will be here in about 30 minutes. I have the presents under the tree, dinner is ready, and I need to get the ingredients for the rolls in the bread machine. I'm going to put them to work putting the leaf in the table, finding another couple of chairs for the table, and loading up some boxes in the car for Christmas with my DH's side on Tuesday.

My Christmas gift is getting DH home for the day! He'll be here around 10;00 AM and be picked up to go back at 6:30 PM. Our gift to ourselves is new appliances to update our tired kitchen - stove, refrigerator and dishwasher. I'm also doing a new sink and range hood but DS will install those. The appliances aren't in until late January which is fine.

We're having spiral ham, cheesy scalloped potatoes, ginger carrots, rolls, and lemon bars for dessert. The rain has washed away the ice and snow and it's a balmy 40F outside.

Have a wonderful day everyone!!

Good morning and Merry Christmas!

Quickly here, we should be leaving in an hour for DS and DDIL's for brunch and the family gift exchange.  I think DS's wonderful waffles are on the menu and DD is bringing cinnamon rolls too.  Then it will be home for us for an hour or two before we head out again, down to DD and DSIL's for the afternoon and dinner.  Our niece and her family will be joining us then, making it 12 for dinner.

Last night was a nice, quiet Christmas Eve for DH and me.  We got great Chinese take-out and watched National Lampoon's Family Christmas again.

Gerry @ger_77Happy Birthday!!

Debbie @dfishmy Mom always did the cloves and pineapple on the ham too, but instead of mustard in the glaze she used the juice from the pineapple or whatever juice was on hand.  I loved your story!!!

We won't be having pumpkin pie or ham today, the pies will be apple and lemon meringue.  And we'll be having roast beef and turkey with tons of sides that everyone is bringing.

Sandi @StLouisCruisersthank you for your photos of Wellington.  That looks exactly like what I'd like to do when we're there on the Grand Australia.

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Good Sunday Morning from a frigid Sunday morning,  Chilly (not by other's standards but that 35 in Winter Haven sounds very nice).  I had to punt a bit on today's list as the first sentence ended with "and" but I was lucky to find A'phabet day.  I'll pass on the Pumpkin Pie but gladly celebrate Christmas and wish all dailyites a blessed Christmas, Hannukah, or ending of the Christmas commercialism as the case may be.

I love Mary Lou Retton's quote.  I think I've been to Wellington exactly twice, once each on Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity.

.  I love the meal and it will be ham but not exactly Christmas Ham.  My alternative has a bit of ironic twist.  In 2014-15 I took my one Christmas cruise, then on the Ryndam out of Tampa.  In  the holiday period it seemed like the least stressful day to fly was Christmas Day and I did that.  The flight was a success but the day was a culinary disaster with nuggets at McDonalds in BWI and a Burger King burger in TPA plus a couple of snacks from a Tampa gas station.  My culinary highlight and alternative meal suggestion for December 25, 2014 is Southwest Peanuts.

Today’s care list:

ger_77 DH Dental emergency but kudos to the Doctor
Amera (Sharon’s almost DGD) under the weather for Christmas
All without Electricity
SusieKIsland Girl DSIL in Emergency room
Seasick Sailor’s hand
Marshhawk DH family illnesses
From the rotation:
Cruising-along niece awaiting a kidney
Cruisin Terri leak damage
Status of St. Louis Sal (7/1) and JAM37 (7/7)
HAL Sailer Sister in Law with aggressive cancer therapy

Celebrations and Shoutouts:

Hannukah day 8
Christmas
luvteaching DH sprung for Christmas at home
A home run from Father David
2 days for ottahand7 (Volendam 12/27 to 3/18/23)
Cruisin Terri (Insignia  to 12/28) at sea
Cunnorl (Noordam to 1/2/23),  Kazu and Av8rix (Koningsdam  to 1/7/23), Damcruiser (Nieuw Statendam  to 1/14/23), Seasick Sailor (Rotterdam  to 1/25/23), and indaler (Volendam  to 3/18/23),  richwmn and HorizonChaser1957 (Zuiderdam  to 5/12/23) at sea

I'm making Chili Colorado for the family potluck (it's a Mexican food theme this year... no turkey could be found plus we just had it for Thanksgiving). Takes 7 hours (+ 1 hour) in the slow cooker so I started yesterday and finishing it today. Looks pretty good so far.

We used to go out for Christmas breakfast before the family gathering for lunch, but DH didn’t want to be out among strangers and possibly be exposed to something. So I cooked French toast at home.

Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for the Celebration List. Stay safe and healthy everyone.

Happy holidays to all!

We survived the storm with our power intact!

I’m just starting to feel better post-Covid so grateful for that.

I received an urgent call from a friend who fosters dogs and she needed to place a dog asap, the people who were supposed to take her could not catch a flight home.  So we agreed to take the pup last night at 9 o’clock,  she is exhausted but safe and happy.   It changed our plans but in a good way. Hubby is already attached to her… uh oh😂

Wishing everybody Peace, Happiness and Health.

Merry Christmas!  And Happy last day of Hanukkah!

We are going to my DM’s senior living residence for Christmas lunch. It’s a buffet with a Sirloin Roast and Salmon Wellington as the main course. We will take a bottle of Kim Crawford because their wine is horrible. I’m thinking about taking the ingredients for a B52 as an after dinner treat. DM loves Bailey’s!  I just think it won’t be layered like it’s supposed to be.

Gerry @ger_77 — Happy Birthday!!  Enjoy your special day!  And Birthday Cake for dessert, yum.

Have a great day everyone!

Merry Christmas and happy 7th day of Hanukkah (not 8th).

Neither of the meal suggestions works for me, and meals here today will be strange, even more so than usual, because of what needs to be used up. I haven't been to New Zealand, but I have been to Wellington, Ohio. It has a rather noticeable village hall.

Merry Christmas and last night Hanukah and a Very Merry Birthday to @ger_77!  🎄🎂🎁

I made it across the Peace Bridge at Buffalo just before they closed all the bridges.  They re-opened the bridges into Canada after two days but the bridges back into the US are still closed.  The weather has warmed up to a balmy -15c/5f with the wind chill.  😮 😭 🥶

We will be having Christmas dinner at my daughter and son-in-law’s.  My parents won’t be able to join us because my father is quite ill.  My sister, brother, and I will stop by there before we head out.

I hope everyone has a wonderful, carefree, and loving day.  Stay healthy and stay safe.  🎄

For your dad.
