Good afternoon from warm central Texas.  First, I forgot to congratulate the Dawgs on their victory.  It was sad to watch the Horned Frogs fall apart.  Their coach said after the game or this morning that they will learn from their mistakes.

We had been getting emails from Ancestry about a half price sale on a six month membership.  I finally broke down and took advantage of it, and the last two afternoons have been learning some interesting things about both our families.  So far, I've almost finished looking at the hints for the DDs, us, our parents and grandparents.  One eerie fact that neither of us realized until today was our mothers died on the same day three years apart.  We also have a few other dates repeating through the family tree.

Good morning all,

Good news that @kazu and @Scrapnana are both heading home and getting the care they need.

DH is improving and can come off the care list. Yesterday morning his speech was still not right but by the afternoon it was much better and he's speaking clearly this morning. Yesterday DS was here for father/son time and I got in water aerobics (2 classes) as well as stops at See's candy, Costco, and Fred Meyer. Now the car doesn't leave the driveway until next Monday. Today we have a video visit with our doctor at 1:00, nursing comes in at 2:15 to do wound care (so I don't have to change the dressing today) and the PT aide comes about the same time. The aide is someone we've had numerous times, "gets" DH, and is so upbeat working with him.

Karen

Karen, that is great news that your DH is improving.  A good PT aide can make all the difference to the patient, which we found out the last couple of months.

Good morning all!

This is DSIL's last day here, and we'll just spend it here at home resting up.  She needs it before her flight home tomorrow, we've been keeping her busy and more active than she's accustomed to.  Also this morning is DH's 4th chemo bladder wash, so we wouldn't be going anywhere anyway.

Yesterday we took her north to Blaine and after a very nice lunch out with my sister and DBIL in Bellingham, we took DSIL to see the Peace Arch on the border between the US and Canada.  Not sure I've mentioned it, but when I was 12 my class went there to see President Johnson.  He was inches from me, and my best friend, standing next to me, shook his hand.  I was probably too shy. 😉

DSIL really enjoyed this outing.  Even though she can't go into Canada (no passport) she could "see it".  After spending some time there, we drove back south to DS and DDIL's where we had a delicious dinner with them.

Except during Covid!

Carolyn, I'm glad your DSIL has enjoyed her visit and the sightseeing.  Wishing her safe flights home tomorrow.

Good morning and Happy Tuesday. Today Blue is at the vets having dental surgery (again) and a pedicure. Seems like he has to have a tooth removed about once a year, soon he won’t have any left. When they told us this last time they recommended no more hard chew sticks or toys, so I threw away all the hard ones. Now he has these cute little toys from Bark Box that squeak and crinkle. We should be able to pick him up about 1:00 pm.

Congratulations @cunnorl on your 4* status!  And also for booking a Grand cruise.

What good news to hear about Jacqui and Kathi traveling home. Prayers for uneventful and safe travels.

Rich @richwmn, wow on the lightning strike.  I wouldn’t have wanted to be in the Lido when that happened.

Lenda @Quartzsite Cruiser, Happy Birthday to your DD!

Today’s meal suggestion looks good but I don’t peanuts in my food so would make it without them.

Just got a call from the vet and Blue had to have a total of 6 teeth removed. Ouch. Doctor said he now doesn’t have any teeth left on the bottom front and may stick his tongue out. Oh dear, poor thing. She did say that he should adapt.

Have a great day everyone!

Sharon, I'm sorry Blue had to have so many teeth pulled, but they adapt well.  Our Brandy had seven pulled at once, and that was the last of several extractions over the years.  Thanks for the birthday wishes for DD.

I'm about to go take that nap I promised myself.  I did tell the doc's assistant, that I was the side kick, and DH said, well she remembers things I cant.  And they let me go in with him.  And sure enough when he was with the doc, he did not mention the droop in the lower eye lid.  I did, she looked and sure enough, he has an infection in the eye, and since it is the only eye that works, and the infection is rather serious s he called in another prescription for him.   Which still hasnt been processed.    The eye lid is turning in on itself, and he has another appointment with an eye lid specialist.  now that must really be a specialized dr.  And this is where the infection is being created, and since he takes a kleenix and rubs his eye, and then uses it on the other eye, well both eyes are now infected.

Bubbles infections which had swelled immensely has burst, he is covered in blood and goo, but is bathing himself, and eating the crunchies I gave him, and sun bathing in the back yard.  Guess the healing will take a while.  Prayers for kitty and for my rather peculiar husband, who loves to buck what the docs tell him.. Doesn't help him, but he still hates the nagging.

Annie, I'm glad you did get to go in with DH.  Good luck keeping him from rubbing his eye.  I hope the drops solve the problem.  I also hope that Bubbles begins to heal from his injuries.

Thanks to all for the photos today... @Mr. Boston, @0106, @Quartzsite Cruiser, and @Sharon in AZ.  Sharon, I'm happy to help everyone get to their photos easier.  And I like your upholstery jacket!  It's cute!  Lenda, happy birthday to your DD.  Amazing how the years pass so quickly.  Annie @marshhawk you really do need to go with DH to his appointments.  I hope this new medication helps him.  Good luck keeping him from rubbing his eyes though.  And what a pity Bubbles has to suffer through abcesses.  You see a lot of that on the veterinarian shows.  Hope you get some sleep this afternoon.

Sandi, thank you for the birthday wishes to our DD, and @grapau27 Graham, thank you, too.

I had a nap!  Yeah!  And woke up with lyrics in my head for a new song  or poem.  Since I have not picked up the guitar in years, most likely a poem.  Making coffee, as now I have to pretend it's morning, and I'm going to work.

We did get some drops for his eyes, and even after one application, he said they felt better.  We see the new doc on the 18th.  And the prescription has still not been filled by Kroger's.

We have not been to Bar Harbour Maine.  But, we have left from Rockland on a Maine Windjammer, and spent one night sleeping in the Arcadia forest (well on the ship in a cove).  This picture is not one I took, but one that I love.

Heritage-chased-by-Lewis-R.jpg

We were on the ship in the front of the picture.  We sallied on her twice.  The first time was for 4 nights, the second time was for 7.  It slept 27 guests, crew of 5 and two captains.  Now, if they had actual toilets, and hot water 24/7, and you didn't hear a flea fart from the cabin next door, I would do it again in a heart beat.   But alas, at this time of life, I really don't have it in me, to hoist the sails, bring up the anchor, and teach people how to row a boat to shore.  But the food was fantastic!  NO radio, no cell phones, no TV just life like it was in the 1800's. People being with people.  Real social interacting.  Npo loud music on the lido deck.   We ran the flag of pirates for a full week.  The owners kept saying this is such much better than a real cruise ship.  Ummm, well not really.  I did not have to dress for dinner?  But I did have to listen to the captains not so funny funny stories every night.  I could see the stars  with no bright lights?  I was so tired every day I fell asleep by 8.  But wonderful memories.

Off to fix meatloaf, and the ship is called the Heritage, check out Maine Windjammer Association.

Well, the best laid plans can always go kaput.

Everything that could go wrong, did.

The Service Master crew were called to an emergency.  Therefore, we had no help to open boxes.  We just did not have the space to stay at our home tonight.  So we came back to our apartment.  it just would not work.

They will probably not be back tomorrow so we don’t know right now when we will be able to move in.

We’re disappointed, but have to face reality.

Will keep you updated.

Good afternoon, everyone.

It has been a gray, gloomy day here in mid-Michigan.  The weather will repeat for at least the next week.  I bought and installed a new doorbell today.  The old one couldn't be heard in the family room.  This one is wireless and has four receivers that ding dong when you push the button.  One is in the family room so we'll know if someone is at the door.  It came with a second transmitter so I installed that one at the side door in case someone goes out there and gets locked out.  Next, I need to get a mesh router so we get reception down in the basement.

Sue and I love Bar Harbor.  We always go out to Acadia and hike.  We've done the ocean hike several times and the last time did part of the way around Jordan Pond.  My understanding is that we will get there this summer.  Ships that were already scheduled into Bar Harbor are not affected by the new law that was passed.  Once they are no longer scheduled, then they will be subject to the law.

This is Jordan Pond House from the trail.

The trail starts out nice and well groomed.  Then we go to wooden planks.

Not all of them are nailed down tightly.

Then you run out of them and you have to climb over rocks.  We turned back at that point.  They are supposed to finish the trail with the wooden planks.  This was 2018, so they have had enough time to do so!

Dinner tonight was yellow bell pepper (as salad), rainbow chard, salmon, and Riesling--rather a lot of Riesling.

Today I'm wishing that Cruise Critic had an "Ignore Thread" function. Several threads that I was following, including some in which I had posted, have been taken over by individuals who are negative to the point of being nasty, and who repost essentially the same hostile reply to every other post. Thus, the thread looks very active, but half the posts are almost identical.

Good evening. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily @richwmn @rafinmd.

Bittersweet chocolate is ok for baking, but I prefer milk chocolate for eating. I appreciate houseplants and some peculiar people. Interesting quote. I like the meal, and wine; pass on the drink.

I've never been to Bar Harbour.

I'm very late today. Just wasn't able to get to my computer.

Good news about @kazu Jacqui flying home and @Scrapnana Kathi's daughter flying down to take her home.

@StLouisCruisers Thinking of you on this anniversary of your Mother's passing. Happy engagement anniversary! Congrats to your niece on the quick sale of her house. Nice Bar Harbour photos.

@cunnorl Congrats on 4 star and the SA/Antarctica cruise!

@aliaschief Nice food porn.

@Cruzin Terri I hope your flareup settles down quickly. And good that you're getting moved in, although sorry Service Master cancelled on you today. I hope you can move in permanently soon.

@smitty34877 Best wishes for continued recovery. I hope you find just the right aide for Tana.

@richwmn Wow on lightning striking the Zuiderdam!

@HAL Sailer Prayers for DSIL's peaceful transition.

@Quartzsite Cruiser Happy 45th Birthday to DD! Thanks for the Bar Harbour photos.

@luvteaching Good to hear that DH is improved.

@Cruising-along You're showing DSIL a great time.

@Sharon in AZ Oh my on Blue having to have so many teeth removed. Poor baby! Nice pictures.

@marshhawk Good thing you were there to be DH's advocate and I hope the infection clears right up. As well as Bubbles' infection.

@dfish Thanks for the recipes and the pictures.

Prayers for the Care List and a Toast to the Celebration List.

Stay well everyone.

You can ignore an individual poster on Cruise Critic.  I haven't done it so can't tell you how, but it is possible.  Others can probably tell you how.  Sad it's needed sometimes.

Not sure what platform you're using but with a PC if you hover your mouse over the person's Avitar you get a box with some options.  The little blue box bottom right is the button you want.  For a thread you are describing there's one little hitch.  If a non-ignored user quotes the ignore user you will see it that way.

The problem isn't just one person: their repetitive, nasty replies subvert the thread as others argue with them. After a certain point, I'd rather just hide the entire thread.

I scroll through the threads and read the threads I am interested in and skip the others. Then I click on the "MARK FORMUM AS READ" option. This is a little more work than I would prefer, but it does the job. An "IGNORE THREAD" option would be wonderful. I am sure that I miss some interesting conversations this way, but I also don't have to trudge through the nasty replies.
