Good morning friends and Happy Easter!  I glanced at the Port Everglades webcam and see the first of the ships is already into the port situating itself, with the others all rushing towards the entrance as I type.  It's going to be a busy day there.  And we know our friend Bruce @aliaschief and DW Sue are going to be embarking today so we wish them well.  Thanks to Rich @richwmn for the Fleet Report and Daily.  He's off enjoying Cadiz today.  Wouldn't that be fun?

This morning our weather is colder than yesterday 42F but the high will rise to 62 with a cloudy morning and a sunny afternoon.  I don't think we managed to get out of the 40's yesterday and it rained almost all day long!  That's enough for this week!🌧️   Anyway today in addition to Easter we have Name Yourself Day, Winston Churchill Day, and National Former Prisoner of War Recognition Day.  Good job on the renaming @RedneckBob.  I have no idea what I'd name myself as.  DH is a big fan of Winston Churchill and enjoyed visiting the Churchill War Rooms in London.  And we should all recognize prisoners of war for all that those servicemen suffered while locked up by the enemy.  Many never made it home.  Thanks for recognizing and honoring Pauline's uncle Graham @grapau27.  Also thanks for sending Father David's Easter sermon which I will enjoy listening to later.  Please thank him for us!🙏

Robin Williams' quote sounds like part of his stand up routine.  He was a funny guy.  I would like the grilled shrimp but have never become a fan of couscous.  The drink sounds fancy, and that's quite a name for the wine.  Since it's a chardonnay I would have to taste a sample to see if I like it or not.  I don't like many chardonnays.  Thanks to the ladies of the food and beverage department for their work today on those items.  That would be Debbie @dfish, Dixie @summer slope, and Ann @cat shepard.  We also want to say thanks to Vanessa @JazzyV for the Care and Celebration lists.

Prayers today for all on the Care list especially the people of Ukraine and the families who recently lost their loved ones in Nashville.  🙏  A salute to everyone on the Celebration list and we hope those happy days continue for you.  Hope all who are cruising have calm waters and many adventures.  Welcome home to @MISTER 67 and @GTVCRUISER!!  Also happy birthday and happy anniversary to Karen @luvteaching.

Today's port is Puntarenas (Puerto Caldera), Costa Rica.  It was our port here on Sept. 22, 2021 so I'll add the link to that date below.  Many of us remember that long, skinny dock jutting out into the water.  I'm sure many of you have been there so show us your photos.  Mine will be added below the link.

We've been to Puntarenas three times - on Star Princess 2012, Ruby Princess 2015 and Westerdam in 2016.  This restaurant seemed to be a popular place to stop and take a photo because I know Lenda @Quartzsite Cruiser has a photo taken here, too.

This is an interesting way to spend a half hour, watching all the people scurrying off the ships in port.  Also watching those buses back up on the narrow pier for a quarter of a mile or so.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVIYXBW-RlfeW5bs9dw_koPe?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1427216975

On my first trip to Costa Rica on Star Princess in 2012 we took a tour but I'm not even sure where the bus took us.  We thought it was Puntarenas and I know it wasn't very far away.  We stopped at this local square and watched the children dance. 00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVLGNeDt296-k0kPCsJe0AiR?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1632316836

 00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVLsFchFFxyzdY7bccqnRlqA?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1632314215

00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVKHRShFonmDE2_7KRlrXDUs?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1332645566

The square was across the street from this church. 00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVIaqxQat5Q4ZqzZJtIcDM95?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium&ts=1632316821

The remainder of our times in Puntarenas, we just stuck close to the pier and walked through the small town.

Since I don't exercise on Sunday and it's still early I think I will go back to bed for a while.  My reward!  I hope everyone here has a Splendid Sunday!

Good morning and Happy Easter. Kind of ironic on today’s port of call as we will be visiting there on this cruise.

We had an enjoyable dinner at the Boatyard Restaurant and we were in bed at 8:00 PM.

Will be joining on-line worship services this morning and the hotels shuttle is taking us to the ship at 11:00 AM. So I need to get ready for breakfast.

Here’s wishing you a wonderful day. Haven’t really made any plans for Sail Away as weather forecast is calling for some rain. We are on deck 7 port side a couple of doors from Neptune Lounge.

Good morning.  Thanks for the Daily and Fleet Report.

A cold clear morning but it should be a sunny 10°C (50°F) this afternoon.

I don't know what I would name myself, I guess I'll just stick with the name my parents gave me.  We enjoyed visiting the Churchill War Rooms the last time we were in London.  He was a fascinating man.  We should all remember prisoners of war, so many wars, so many prisoners.

Amusing quote.

The meal suggestion sounds good, but I'm going to cook a turkey breast with mashed potatoes, a veg and coleslaw.  And a few glasses of wine!

The drink and wine sound good.

I've never been to today's port, thanks for the pictures.

Prayers for many.  Cheers for all the celebrations.

Have a wonderful day.

Stay safe.

Good morning everyone and Happy Easter.  I like the collection of days today.  Robin Williams quote is often true, as a person who walks to and from work I’m often the only thing moving!  Will pass on the meal and drink suggestions today as we’ll be having lamb stew with dill and cosmopolitans today.  I haven’t been to today’s port but am enjoying the pictures.  Prayers for everyone on our prayer list.  Cheers to all of you who are celebrating happy events today!

I named myself a long time ago when I shortened my name 😉 I commemorate National former POW Recognition day and hold all POW’s in great esteem.  My uncle was a POW in WWII and helped raise awareness of their plights with a documentary on CBC.

Robin Williams’ quote is so true. Nothing seems to move during rush hour.

Shrimp sounds delish (and yay on the white wine) but I caved and bought an Easter dinner of ham & the standard stuff.  I knew I wouldn’t go to the trouble of cooking all that for just me.  I will be sharing leftovers with my neighbour (also a widow) when she returns home from visiting her family.

Prayers for everyone on the Care list & for those that need them and a toast 🥂 to those on the Celebratory / Shout Out list.

Happy Easter to those who celebrate it.  Thank you Rich, Sandi, Vanessa, Ann, Debbie, Dixie, and Graham.  I'll salute all of today's days and so true on the Williams quote.  I've been to Puerto Caldera but not to Puntarenas.  I'll definitely pass on the shrimp.  My alternative is Melange of Tropical Fruit, Chilled Sour Cherry Soup, Spaghetti Amartriciana, and Almond Fruit Cake as served on MS Zaandam April 9, 2017:

It is a bit of a nippy start to the day here in mid-Michigan.  We never did get any of that wintry mix they said we were getting yesterday.  Yesterday afternoon turned into a beautiful day.  Today is supposed to warm to the mid 60s and have plentiful sunshine.  Sue and I are heading to Clare for dinner at the Doherty Hotel.  They put on a fantastic buffet.  That also puts her half way to the rental and work tomorrow morning.   The next time she'll be down here will be with the moving truck to make it permanent.

I know many of you are having the traditional Easter Ham.  @kazu Jacqui, I'm glad to see you are treating yourself to a good meal today and I'm sure your neighbor will appreciate what  you share with her.  The shrimp dinner for today's meal does look quite tempting.  I'm going to have to file this one away for the future.  This first one is simple and easy, but sounds delicious.  https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/lemon-basil-grilled-shrimp-couscous/

lemonbasilshrimp1.thumb.jpg.1d8fab78f42fa4c3b54f5b118dec8a3d.jpg

The previous recipe tosses the cooked shrimp in the lemon basil sauce after it is cooked.  This next one calls for marinating the shrimp for an hour before grilling.   https://bitzngiggles.com/lemon-basil-grilled-shrimp/

lemonbasilshrimp3.thumb.jpg.75f0cf3a64f514e0219267acdc4ef4ba.jpg

This recipe  uses the sauce on the rice and for basting the shrimp on the grill or griddle.  This one does call for rice, but you can use couscous or quinoa, or rice, or cauliflower.  The choice is  yours!

Today in history:

1768 John Hancock refuses to allow two British customs agents to go below deck of his ship, considered by some to be the first act of physical resistance to British authority in the colonies

It has been a beautiful day in Cadiz!

I will be cooking Easter dinner for my family.  I’m cooking the spiral ham in the crockpot (thanks Debbie), macaroni & cheese, pineapple casserole,  asparagus, salad with oranges, avocado & candied walnuts.  My niece will bring appetizers and my sister dessert.

We were in Puntarenas on our Zuiderdam Panama Canal transit in February 2022.  We went on a ship tour that began with a bus ride to an aerial tram through the rain forest.2EAED103-A647-46A5-AAC2-298E866CFC06.thumb.jpeg.75916b661051fcdf2bdb70525b92bf6b.jpeg

Happy Easter to all who celebrate it!

Thank you for starting us off, Sandi!  Rich, thank you for sharing your cruise with us and making sure the R & D continued while you were cruising.  Vanessa, thank you for taking care of our lists! Dixie & Debbie thank you for being such great members of the Food & Beverage team!

A very laid back Sunday. The Northeast winds are whipping and there is a fine mist falling. So fine, that Bindi had no trouble going on her morning walk. Hope we actually get some rain today.

Celebrating Easter with the family at a local restaurant, so we can all enjoy a great meal & relax. Bindi walks. I might plant a few seeds today. Not sure what else I will get up to.

Get well & stay well everyone!

Giesen Chardonnay Marlborough The Fuder Single Vineyard Clayvin 2017

You just might be able to find this New Zealand Chardonnay. I found one online p

distributor that appears to ship to me. It has excellent reviews from consumers and at least one critic. It might have a hint of oak. The distributor I found offered it for $14.97.

94 Wine Enthusiast

Pale gold with a green tinge, this exudes pineapple rind, preserved lemon, honey, butter cream and toast. It's ripe and concentrated with some showy oak, but it never goes overboard on either. The palate is rich with a lactic texture, the lemony acidity tempered by toasty oak. The tangy fruits lingers on the persistent finish. It would make a top drop with buttery lobster or similarly rich seafood fare.
