Just finished touring Seville Cathedral the largest Gothic Cathedral in the world and third largest Cathedral in Europe. The altar all coated in gilded gold is the largest altar in the world.

The monument of four figures holding a casket is the burial chamber of Christopher Columbus.

Today Seville is bustling as it Corpus Christo day a Holy Day and in this area of Spain also a holiday.

Two night’s here tomorrow another tour and adventure.

Good morning all!

My best friend and I have been friends since 1960, I guess my "poison" would be a Marlborough SV although I'd rather call it my drink of choice, and all of us here care about the oceans.

The meal looks really yummy, especially the first recipe.  But between the carbs and sodium content, I should stay away from it lol.  Also even though I do like Gorgonzola a lot, it can be pretty rich. So I will sadly pass.  The drink looks good, will pass on the pricey wine (and unlike most, I prefer a Chardonnay with a hint of oak).  Have not been to the port of the day.

Today I'm having lunch with a friend, and then probably more gardening and watering.

I'm so sorry to hear about all the smoke and poor air quality in Canada and on the East Coast of the US.

Nancy @ottahand7 Yikes about the wolf!!

Terry @smitty34877 I was so sorry to hear about your DH's pathology report, and the need for more surgery and chemo.  Prayers and hugs.

Thinking of you today Mary Kay @cruzn single as you have surgery.

Dixie @summer slope Praying that your minor health problem is resolved and improves very soon.

Jack @Heartgrove I hope your DW's heart monitor gives some answers and a treatment plan if necessary.

Good morning. I will gladly salute best friends and oceans. We have not been to the port . I would love the recipe but everyone else in the family would not.
Yesterday we received unwelcome  news from DH’s surgeon. The pathology report was not good and treatment will be further surgery and chemotherapy. I am grateful to live where I do as  there are specialists of all types. We spent the day gathering information and informing the rest of the family.

The air quality here yesterday afternoon was well over 400 but today looks somewhat better at 246. DD had masks for us but no one went out except for brief dog rescues. Around two o’ clock yesterday the sky was a deep orange. If I weren’t so preoccupied with the previous news I think I would have been alarmed. NYC and Yonkers schools are closed today. The teenager got up early to walk the dogs for me as he didn’t want me to go outside. He is such a wonderful  kid!

Stay safe out there everyone.

Sorry to hear that your DH is facing more surgery and chemotherapy. And I hope that you all can stay inside and away from the smoke as much as possible. The teenager sounds like he is a help to you.

We stopped at the island of Raiatea this past January for an overnight visit while aboard the Zuiderdam.  On the first day we just walked around the town of Uturoa, visiting several shops and a grocery store where I purchased some Tim Tam cookies.

On our second day, we boarded a small boat docked near the ship and travelled to the nearby island of Taha’a to visit a vanilla “plantation” to learn how vanilla is produced.  We then returned to the boat and travelled to a small nearby island for some beach/snorkeling time before lunch.  We had both grilled fish and chicken as well as several root vegetables.  Our sailout from Raiatea through the reefs was quite interesting.  We also sailed right by Bora Bora, which originally was supposed to be a stop for us.

Good morning. Sunny here....high will be in the 70's (not bad). It was 43 when I walked the dogs. Temps are supposed to climb this week and next and it is will be drier. We did get a couple of surprise showers yesterday. The lawn is looking ok but the mowing crew needs practice.

My most positive thoughts and prayers to all needing them. I guess the health issues are the price we pay for growing older. I have friend who did the "face plant" routine a few days ago (in addition to our casualty at the Bar D) and with his face very black, blue, purple and orange he is having to fly east as his brother is very ill. They are both about my age. I am walking carefully these days. Or more accurately, hobbling.

Today is going to be a laundry day and I am into my hall closet sorting our junk .... how many purses and shopping bags does one need? I am also going to schedule a session with a podiatrist... my right foot is not happy. Nothing broken but I seem to have acquired a couple bunions that need attention. Want to get that sorted out before the GA.

Need to wake the dogs up for a second short walk. And then to work on chores I do not feel like doing .....

Susan

Sad to read this today, Terry.  You did seem very worried about DH's surgery. Wife's intuition?  Probably.

One foot in front of the other.  Lots of prayers are with you and your family.

Good morning and thanks all!   I would  very much like the quote to be true.
So scary to see the awful air quality in so many places!    Stay safe all!
@smitty34877 so sorry that your DH needs more treatment and surgery.  I truly hope life turns around for you soon. The unknown is so scary.

Gerry, you might want to let your DS know that LG still uses the same freezer compressor, so this might be a recurring theme.

My 8 year old LG fridge’s compressor died at the end of April and my appliance repair guru warned me about this problem. So I decided I did not want to worry about the problem happening while I was traveling. I lucked in to an amazing sale on a Whirlpool fridge.

yikes,  we just purchased a new LG when our Samsung fridge dropped dead.   @ger_77youre wise to hang on to yours!  Our old fridges never seemed to die!

We are enjoying some very hot weather,  30 degrees today AKA mid eighties.

Thank you Rich, thank you Debbie, thank you Vanessa, thank you Ann, and thank you Dixie for all your work. And thank you everyone for being here!

Sue has been having occasional periods of rapid (160 bpm) heart beats about 1-1/2 - 2 months apart. She had an echocardiagram yesterday and was fitted with a 30-day monitor to wear. Hopefully we can get to the bottom of this.

Stay Safe!

Such a worry,  I hope you get answers too!

Good morning, all, and thanks for all the info today and in days past, when I have read, but not posted.  We've been pretty busy here with visitors, parties, doctors, etc.  I've been thinking of you all, and sending up prayers, too, for those with worries.  @smitty34877, I hope your DH can get the treatment he needs, pdq.  Pat's biopsies are still not in (surgery was May 5), and we're supposed to get a call when it does.  He still has radioactive pellets floating around inside, so he can't have radiation, and chemo is contraindicated for someone his age, so we have to just hope and pray that all is well.  I am now pretty well trained in taking care of his "attachment" but I'm not enjoying it - I was never cut out to be a nurse!

@Heartgrove, hope things are okay with your DW.  I had a lot of silly extra heartbeats after I had Covid, it seems to be settling down now.  Could have been worry, too, though.  But Covid is good to blame everything on...

@summer slope, hope you feel better soon,.   And for those losing pets, I feel for you - @marshhawk, any sign of Fawn?

DD and her BF had a great time here, I think/hope, although we didn't do much for them except feed them, they saw a lot, and even went to Tofino to fish.  They came home with two enormous salmon, (about 30 pounds in meat) which we will be eating for ages.

Now Tofino is cut off from the rest of the island by forest fires, Cathedral Grove is threatened, and it would be a tremendous loss if it burns.  Some of the trees are as much as 900 years old.

Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily.

Best friends are a blessing. Not sure what my poison is; on the cruise it was mudslides, lol. The oceans need protection from mankind. Sometimes the quote may be true. Maybe on the meal, yes to the drink and pass on the wine. I haven't been to Raiatea Island.

Just back from the eye doctor. As I drove into the city, I could tell there was a haziness to the air. I put my car on recirculate for the air. Of course I woke up with my eye red, hurting and light sensitive. I started with the stronger steroid drops immediately, and somewhat concerned about the bright light the doctor uses for the dilated exam. Fortunately the drops kicked in by the time I was seen. She did see some cells, indicative of active inflammation, in the eye, but not a whole lot. I'll keep up those drops this afternoon. Yardwork is done for now, so I'll just relax the rest of today. We're all hoping for rain here; none in the last 18 days and the lawn is parched.

@cruzn single Prayers for a successful surgery today.

@aliaschief The tomb of Columbus is very impressive.

@dfish While recently in Germany I knew that bacon was referred to as speck.

@ottahand7 Wow on a wolf being that close!

@smitty34877 I am so sorry to hear that DH will require more surgery and chemo. Prayers for you both as you navigate this course.

@StLouisCruisers Prayers for your friend's DB and that the chemo is successful. Thanks for the photos of Uturoa.

@marshhawk I hope you'll be able to sleep in your bed soon.

@Cruzin Terri I hope you're feeling better soon. What a pain getting DBIL's estate seems to be!

@ger_77 Sorry your power went out and the stove clock getting toasted. That wakes me up too when the CPAP stops, although now I have a battery backup I can plug it into.

@Heartgrove I hope they figure out Sue's rapid heart beat issues.

@summer slope Done!

@Love the beach Those pictures are amazing, in a scary way.

@Quartzsite Cruiser @Mtn2Sea Lovely photos.

@Vict0riann Prayers for Pat with his health issues.

Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for those Celebrating.

Good morning friends!  It's 65F here with a high of 84 and sunny skies later on.  No rain yesterday afternoon or evening down in my neck of the woods.   Thanks to Rich @richwmn for the Daily and Fleet Report.

It's a good day to salute your best friends.  One of my old friends contacted me yesterday asking for prayers for her DB.  He has bile duct cancer and needs his bile numbers to go down right now so they can start a new chemo.  I told her I'd be praying for him, and I know she and her DH include my brother in their prayers each day.  That's what best friends are for!  Name your Poison day sounds a little dangerous and I hope it innocently means to choose your drink of choice.  World Ocean Day is a biggie and as a cruiser I appreciate clean seas.  It's very sad to see the pollution in some of the ports.   I liked the quote today with the unknown author.  Will want to see what Debbie @dfish says about it.  The drink sounds interesting.  And the Napa Chardonnay sounds okay but I don't like oakey!  A nice day for a baseball day in history.  Mickey Mantle was certainly a legend!  Thanks to Dixie @summer slope and Ann @cat shepard for their drink and wine reports.

Prayers for our Care list today.  Hoping @cruzn single gets through her surgery in good shape.  Quick healing for you Mary Kay!  DB said he went outside for a bit in Missouri and had a terrible coughing fit.  They have some of that smoke from Canada there.  The numbers weren't awful there yesterday yet he couldn't stay outside for long with his IPF.  Hope he's doing better today!  Let's also pray those wildfires are put out soon because many people have to suffer with the smoke.  Cheers to all on the Celebration list.  Happy cruising for all our Dailyites!🚢🥂 Thank you Vanessa @JazzyV for keeping the lists for us!  Excellent job!

Uturoa, French Polynesia is located in the Society Islands on the largest island Raiatea.  Previously Raiatea, French Polynesia was our port of the day on Feb. 19, 2022 and May 29, 2022.  Since Uturoa is the capital and only significant town on the island I think we can say today is the fourth time for that destination.  On Monday, January 23rd we had Uturoa as port of the day.  We went there once on Maasdam in April 2017.  Here are the links to retrieve photos everyone.

Uturoa first.

And here are Raiatea, Society Islands, FP links.

My photos from Uturoa:

Now that that's done, let me wish everyone a safe and happy Thursday, June 8.

Lovely photos Sandi @StLouisCruisers.

My workplace did this as an anti-covid measure. Initially we were told to close completely, then authorized to stay open as long as only one person worked at a time. We added one of these when we were permitted to allow more people in.

Would you believe that we are still completing forms to get DBIL’s estate settled?  It is almost two years.  I just cannot believe there can be so many papers to fill out.  I still say that I will never put a penny in Capital One Bank. The amount of grief that they have generated is beyond the pale.

I had Sue listed as beneficiary on all my bank accounts and on my retirement investments.  I'm hoping that makes it easier for her if I go first.

You're on mine.  Hugs across the miles.

I kept trying to post these this morning, but CC kept freezing up on me.  I couldn't close out of it or anything.

My neighbor came over this morning and helped me do my morning inspection.  I showed him one area of the house where I have concerns about the paint job and he agreed with my assessment.  When they were preparing the house for painting, they first scraped and then were supposed to sand, but they skipped the sanding step.  There are places where the paint is going to easily chip off.  We have a two year guarantee, so we will probably see them back next year to fix that side of the house.  Otherwise, the house looks great!

Thanks to all the wonderful people here who wished us well with DH's newest diagnosis.I have been worried  about Lou for many months and it took a while to get the testing done. The tumor is an aggressive one and has been staged as 4a.This is his second bout of cancer. My DB is an oncologist and has been in contact with the surgeon. We will know more by next week.

I realize many of you are going through or have experienced  this situation  and thank you for your insights. It is very helpful.

Let's hope  you get to the bottom of it quickly and there is an easy treatment.  It must be scary not knowing what the problem is.

The last occurence was the end of April which is when I took her to Urgent Care. She saw the Nurse Practitioner about two weeks later but it took until yesterday to actually examine her with the echocardiogram and to begin the monitoring. Spooked us last night as the phone that is paired by bluetooth to the monitor buzzed last night at 3:00 am - telling us that it was fully charged!  ☺️

I had Sue listed as beneficiary on all my bank accounts and on my retirement investments.  I'm hoping that makes it easier for her if I go first.

Debbie,  Jim’s brother was a special needs person who was mentally challenged.  He was unable to execute a will.  That is the problem.  Plus we are dealing with two states.  New York and South Carolina.  Add that to a very uncooperative bank (Capital One) that does not want to reissue checks that were sent to Jim as Guardian after Eugene died and were not cashable.  They keep asking for more and more information like it is their money.

Then we are dealing with the Queens County Surrogates Court in New York, which is part of the Old Boy Democratic network. In plain English, if you don’t know someone here, things take forever to get done.

One of these days we will get this done.  I would just like to be the paper supplier for these people.  i would be filthy rich.

Good afternoon.  I've spent the last few hours tracking down more ancestors on Ancestry.com.  Again, I've run into other descendants who want to claim famous people as ancestors when it's really someone else.  I came across one who not only claimed (again) to be descended from George Washington, but added he was also added a distant great grand father of President Obama.  Technically, we are descended from Washington's great grand father, but our ancestor was his grandfather's other son.  Anyway, that makes finding the correct ancestor a challenge.

Today, in the same line of ancestors, the correct one was James Stewart, First Earl of Scotland, the illegitimate son of King James IV and half brother to Queen Mary.  Of course, someone claimed King James V as the true ancestor.  Thanks to Google, I found the correct ones.  Yes, he was the son of King James IV, and his mistress, Janet Kennedy, who while apparently married, was the mistress of several men.  I had always figured, one of us if not both would have an ancestor that was illegitimate, just never figured it would be the son of a king.  Don't worry, I'm not claiming any titles or asking for special treatment.  🤣  Who knows what surprises tomorrow will bring.

Ann, I'm surprised the biopsy results are not in.  I hope they show the surgeon got everything.

@summer slope Done!

@Love the beach Those pictures are amazing, in a scary way.

@Quartzsite Cruiser @Mtn2Sea Lovely photos.

@Vict0riann Prayers for Pat with his health issues.

Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for those Celebrating.

Vanessa, I hope your eye is better tomorrow.

DIY air purifier: A colleague posted this on our virtual call today. Not sure how easy it is to make but maybe worth a try?

“Make your own DIY Corsi-Rosenthal Box filter with a box fan, 4 MERV13 filters, and duct tape. Google it.”

I remember seeing directions for making such a filter when Covid first started spreading.

They know and it has been noted.  I was told to take it up with corporate.
