Package Upgrade Offer

I logged onto the Princess website and logged into the cruise personalizer and chose our most recent booked cruise (we have two cruises booked, a 15 day B2B with a 14 day cruise). At the top, under a bundles tab, there was a note that they were offering upgrades to packages so I clicked on it. It brought me to a page showing the Plus and Premier packages and when I clicked on the upgrade button it gave me the option to buy these packages at a reduced cost. We currently only have the standard fare as we do not consume alcohol and since we are Platinum level we get our Wi-Fi at 50% off and we did the math and the Plus package at $60 per day did not work out for us.

However, their upgrade offer now offered us the Plus package for $39 per day for our first 15 day cruise and $54 per day for our second 14 day cruise. We are still not biting at the this offer as the math still doesn't work out although it is close. We would end up paying an additional $15.50 per day for the Plus package after deducting the $16 crew appreciation and 50% Wi-Fi ($7.50) being paid for. That is for the first leg. On the second leg we would end up paying more. Will these offers become even more attractive as the embarkation draws closer? Currently we are 19 days out.

The Premier package offer for our first cruise is offered at $52 per day (compared to the $80 charge) so people who paid for the Plus package could have gotten the Premier package for less!

My question is, how do you feel having paid full price and now others being offered a substantial reduction for the same package?  Is Princess finding that people are now not choosing these packages and are they in a scramble to get people to buy them?

How do I feel? Well, if we thought the deal worked for us when we booked it I will just let it go. However I will keep an eye on this for future bookings. It would be a throw the dice proposal I think. If I book without a package (but I think it would work for me) and keep an eye on the offers, that would be great to take a reduced price. However in this day and age I would also run the risk of the packages increasing in price as they have been known to do.

They're not scrambling for our next cruise. We leave next week. Checked the upgrade price and it would cost $62/day/pp (apparently taxes and insurance prices increase as well).

So, that's a hard NO for us.

If you visit specialty dining restaurants (2 per person) and unlimited restaurants the $52 a day for the premier is a great bargain.   If you are inclined to pass, you should stop looking at any of the offers.  If you call perhaps Princess will give you this price for all the cruises.

Good luck.

Your potential good fortune does not bother me at all.

We're currently booked with the "old" Plus at $50 per person per day. I would love to be able to get the full "new" Plus as a free upgrade or at a cost of $4 per person per day more. Of course, as I'm not booked with Standard I'm not seeing any of this kind of pricing.

How do I feel? When I booked I was promised things that I am no not getting because they changed the rules after I booked with the Plus package. Now they are offering you the full Plus for $39 per person where I paid $50 per person and am getting the "crappy" Plus. I don't feel very happy about it at all.

I have to wonder about these offers. We always have Plus and when I look at upgrades to premier it still says $80 for premier or $20 per person per day. Not worth it for us

Kinda reminds me of the automobile sales industry.  Buy a car,van or a Suv,

and following month their reducing the price, giving rebates. .... So   🤷‍♂️ from me.  Now if Princess comes out with a buy one get one free (bogo) after my purchase of a package, then 🥊's are off.

Your lucky to see the reduced price.  Went to one of my  standard booking  and  a Princess Plus booking and both still show $6o to upgrade to Plus and $80 for Premier.  I did notice that now when you click on the "Upgrade Now" button, it highlights if you have the Standard, Plus or Premier package.  I've never clicked on "Upgrade Now" so first time to see this.

Have you checked to see if your fare has gone down (if you aren’t past final payment)?

All my cruises for 2024 and 2025 are casino deals so they have to be paid for when booked. No discount since them and that is  8 different cruises

I don't see a reduced price. They want me to "upgrade" to Plus for an extra $10 per person per day - a total cost of the current $60 price. I booked Plus for this cruise on August 9, 2022 when the full price was $50. They have since raised the price to $60 and taken away things I had "guaranteed" when I booked such as room service, Ocean Now delivery, and included Casual Dining options such as Alfredo's and tapas in Vines.
