She has been on me to join her in her cabin on Anthem of the Seas for seven days starting on Sunday. Since my daughter is available to stay with her dad I finally said yes. So the next few days will be busy since I haven’t totally unpacked from the 2/8 cruise! Silly me. But I will get it all done. That is great news! So glad you said yes 👍 I hope you have a wonderful time 🙂 1 hour ago, JazzyV said: Just a quick check-in. I’m back home. My right leg is numb and feels like Gumby. I almost fell to the ground twice. Thank goodness for the rollator. The steroids will take a few days to work, so once the anesthetic wears off, I’ll be back to the same way for a few days. BFF is here and just made me coffee since it’s hard for me to get around. I appreciate all the good wishes and prayers. I am so glad your BFF is there to help you and keep you company 👍
StLouisCruisers Posted February 22 #52 Share Posted February 22 Vanessa @JazzyV I'm glad the procedure is over with and that your BFF is there with you today. I hope after the next few days you'll be feeling so much better. 🙂 My hair appointment went fine. She's a fast worker and I got out of there early, but she doesn't compare to my usual hairdresser. Even the shampoo and the blow drying felt very rushed and not as luxe. I drove past the firehouse where the firetruck caught on fire and the garage door openings were all boarded up with plywood. It's obvious that firehouse is no longer serviceable. I sure hope some other one is able to handle the overload. 😟

Rare Nickelpenny Posted February 22 #54 Share Posted February 22 Good afternoon. I thought I had posted earlier but must not have. @JazzyV I am glad that you are back from your procedure and it works. Nice cruising past the Pitons yesterday. Also had grilled conch for lunch on shore Sitting waiting to sail away from Scarbourgh Trinidad. Hot as jeebies and humid. We did get a “safety warning” last night in our cabins. so far this has been wonderful. Thoughts for all and cheers!! 25
RMLincoln Posted February 22 #55 Share Posted February 22 Off to eye doctor for check up. Busy morning lots of texts and calls. DSIL complications but they got approved for a Rehab after another biopsy and stabilize a fever. Happy Vanessa is home! And has help. Relieved Annie and Chuck are ok, never east in the holding pattern! Will enjoy the Helsinki pix while waiting for eye doctor! Thanks all. aliaschief Posted February 22 #57 Share Posted February 22 Friday morning and we are at sea after a beautiful day of scenic sailing in Milford Sound. We are headed into a stormy low pressure system and the Captain said it’s going to get worse. By Sunday we may be experiencing twenty foot seas. The ship is already tossing but fortunately we are headed straight into it. As we entered Milford Sound yesterday it was overcast but soon turned into blue skies. The crew went out of its way again treating us to different kiwi inspired cocktail's and appetizers. As if we need more food or drinks. Whatever another item checked off bucket list and Milford Sound was worth the wait. Time to get up and stagger to Windows for coffee. Thanks for the reports and post. bennybear Posted February 22 #61 Share Posted February 22 (edited) Good morning and thanks all! I think Green is very wise, I really enjoyed his novel the Fault in Our stars. Helsinki is a beautiful city, especially the cathedral and the church that Sandi, Lenda and Tony already showed. But it is special for me as on our second visit, I checked our email in the city hall and immediately burst into happy tears as I saw the ultrasound photo of our first grandchild. @sailingdutchy we also loved the old Rotterdam! I have been reading but not posting as recently my good friend of many years lost her son. All loss is difficult, but loss of a child seems particularly tragic. wishing @JazzyVgood results today! @richwmn so sorry to hear you had to miss Kangaroo island! JazzyV Posted February 22 #70 Share Posted February 22 Good afternoon. Thanks for the FR/Daily @kazu and @richwmn and maps @rafinmd. I'll celebrate 2Twenty2. I try to be humble. Spit Out? Ewww, unless it means giving up tobacco. 2 interesting quotes. I like the meal and drink. Pass on the wine. I haven't been to Helsinki. Interesting days. A margarita would be nice. It's rainy and cloudy here, but in the 40's. As I mentioned I was up and out early for my treatment. It wasn't too bad, some pain and pressure. This was supposed to be much more targeted than the prior procedure. Surprisingly the anesthetic took effect much faster than when I had the epidural, perhaps as it was right at the nerve. I'm good now, as it's mostly worn off, but my original pain is now back. So I'll see how it goes over the next few days. BFF just left. He wanted to watch the movie Rustin, as he doesn't have Netflix. I'll take it easy the next few days and schedule PT to start next week. @StLouisCruisers Thanks for letting us know what is going on with Annie @marshhawk and Chuck. Lovely Helsinki photos. @richwmn Too bad you're missing Kangaroo Island. @Denise T I'm sorry to hear you're sick. kochleffel Posted February 22 #71 Share Posted February 22 Back from donating blood. They were running behind schedule, but doing as well as they could without more staff. I think that the roster of donors filled up, which is unusual at the church around the corner, and they were only staffed for the typical number. But I mentioned that I had limited time before a class, and while they couldn't get me started any earlier, they did make an effort to get me out as soon as possible.
Rare rafinmd Posted February 22 #72 Share Posted February 22 My Helsinki photos will not exactly be Helsinki. I visited twice, 2003 on a round the world attempt I put together and again in 2015. The 2003 trip was quite a complex conjunction of disparate segments, Amtrak Baltimore to Montreal, a freighter to Belgium, and train and ferry connections to Helsinki, then train connections to St Petersburg, Moscow, and Beijing, Crystal Harmony to Vancouver, and VIA/Amtrak back home. The final completed water segment was a ferry from Stockholm, and then mid trans-Siberian got word that the Cruise from Beijing to Vancouver had been cancelled due to SARS. My visit on the Prinsendam became something of a flash back to that trip. While on deck I got a very nice view of the ship that had carried me to Helsinki 12 years early, the Viking Line's Gabriella. While on the ship I never got much of a view of it: A couple files from the Gabriella as well. First, my cabin: While I had a window, the view from that window was not much: Ro7 15

Quartzsite Cruiser Posted February 22 #75 Share Posted February 22 Good afternoon. It's been a busy day, but all the information for our taxes is now assembled and ready to start the work of inputting it into Turbo Tax. We went to the Post Office and got our mailforwarding verified. I had two forms to show both the physicals address and the PO Box number. They would only accept one, and DH's driver's license. The clerk scanned just about everything, and then we were good to go. We had a confirmation email when we got home. As soon as I finish here, I'm going to spray the ground clear in hopes of getting rid of the weeds, etc. They are getting rather high and thick. It will be nice to do something outside and physical instead of sitting at a computer. 4 hours ago, sailingdutchy said: Good morning all from a mild SW Ontario . Thank you to all the contributors to the daily , I do not post every day but when I am at home I enjoy reading what is going on in the cruising community. Today a few pictures from when we were on the Baltic cruise on the MS Rotterdam (VI) in August of 2011 and yes I see many were on the same kind of tour as we were ! I always wonder if the sculpture artist includes a bird on the hero’s head in bronze right from the start if another bird wouldl still go on top of that bird ……….? Yes those were still the days when we still went on sticker tours , haven’t done that in years. Gorgeous church in the rocks ! Older camera did not do any good to this nice monument on a grey day in Helsinki Finish composer Jean Sibelius , his most famous work was "Finlandia " Time to go back on board after a very nice day We loved the old Rotterdam Getting ready for the Chocolate surprise Have a great day everybody , Take Care ! Tony 😄 Tony, thanks for the pictures of Helsinki and especially of the old Rotterdam. That was the last ship we were on before the shutdown in 2020. We wish they still more of the R class and some of the S class ships. 3 hours ago, RMLincoln said: Off to eye doctor for check up. Busy morning lots of texts and calls.
