Advice on most suitable cruise Adults only

What is the best cruise line for a very active couple in early 50s?  We would like Adults only and most likely a Caribbean Cruise. 

 

Have spoken with Viking Cruises who were helpful (maybe a little bit pushy on the sales side book today for best offers etc) but there customer service seemed very knowledgeable. Have since done a bit more research and there Trust Pilot reviews seems dreadful which is a bit worrying. Also not sure if they aimed at people who are a bit older than us? Also seems a lack of entertainement at night.

 

Also looked at Virgin Voyages but most of there Caribbean Cruises were very short only 6-7 days. The ships look very nice with loads of food and entertainment options but the one pool with everyone crammed in did not look great.

 

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You have looked at the two that are best known for "Adults ONLY" with NO KIDS.

 

Many other cruise lines state that they mostly attract adults, but they all allow kids.

 

Other lines that are mostly adults are that for a couple of reasons:

 

1) They tend to be more expensive and are more in the luxury area of cruising

2) They have a lack of kids programs and don't have waterslides, and the like to entertain kids

 

In other words, there are not facilities for kids and therefore parents don't typically select these cruise lines.  But, if you want no kids, then you are stuck with Viking and Virgin.

 

The mostly adult lines you can consider are:  (Don't know where they all sail)

 

P&O Cruises

Exolora Journeys

Silversea

Windstar Cruises

Seabourn

Regent Seven Seas

Crystal

Azamara

Uniworld

 

I am a Viking loyal and have now been on more than 10 Viking Ocean and River cruises and we have four future Viking cruises booked.    I am very early 60's and my husband is younger.

 

Viking does have an older crowd that is very loyal to them and you find different age groups depending on what the itinerary is, and how long the cruise is.  

 

Evening entertainment on Viking is not Broadway or big show style like on cruise ships of 3500 people plus.

 

Viking evening entertainment is a 45 minute show from a foursome of singer / dancers that headline the show most nights.  Sometimes there is a magician, or a different entertainer, but the shows are not BIG shows.  

 

There is the Torshavn Lounge that is the nightclub and it is small and the Viking Band plays there every night.

 

We love Viking because:

 

1) There are no kids

2) There are no casinos, and art auctions 

3) Viking is about the destination and culture of their itinerary

4) So much is included in the cabin price we don't have to think about what extras will cost

5) We love the understated elegance of the Nordic decor and ambiance of the ships

6) We love the food on Viking

7) Most of all, the crew and the service on the ships is outstanding

I had a friend who was obsessed with finding an "adults only" cruise because they didn't want to be around kids and assumed every line that allowed them would be like Disney Land. When really talking about what they wanted, it seemed like Celebrity was the best fit.

Depends upon if you mean adults ONLY - in which case stick with Viking, or MAINLY adult - meaning Celebrity or HAL, or the pricey and smaller Azamara and Oceania,

From the UK you also have Saga, which I believe requires ages over 50.  P&O-UK has two ships that are adults only.  You also have Fred Olsen from the UK.  Both lines operate fly/cruise packages to the Caribbean.  I don’t know about the demographic on Fred, perhaps a little reading on the Fred Olsen board here would help…. Any cruise longer than 7 days will usually have fewer children.  Those cruises sail from Caribbean islands and do not visit any US ports.  Marella did have a ship based in Port Canaveral last year.  MSC and Costa have ships sailing the Caribbean that do not visit US ports.  But I have no idea what the kid count might be.

   Suggest you go to cruisetimetables.com, select some islands you would like to visit.  It will tell you who calls there, and their itineraries.  EM

Would suggest looking at Celebrity, with a word of caution.

 

Their ships are not geared towards children at all, and I guarantee my two would have been bored out of their minds.

 

Yet weirdly, on Beyond last year, there were hundreds of kids on board. It was strange. I wasnt impressed.

 

Yet on reflection the year before, hardly any. Which was nice.

Exactly what I was going to recommend. This would most closely match the OP's given criteria -- although other posts have asked some good questions about what else they might consider.

I was on this cruise with George and have done other music charter cruises. The ones I have been on didn't allow kids, though I have seen others that have (though there may be age limits).

 

This is an option for the OP and others to avoid kids, though an expensive one. Obviously, you want to go on a ship where the entertainers are ones you like and the expected crowd is similar to you, or at least compatible.
