  1. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily. Wow, page 4 already.

    Glad you got your internet back @richwmn. And Happy Birthday!

    I won't likely get to see the meteor showers here. Love elephants.

    Love Julia's quote.

    I like the meal for a fall dish, pass on the drink, but I'll take the wine. Not sure what's for dinner.

    I have not been to today's destination. Thanks for all the pictures.

    We're expecting a "feels like" temp of 101 today! We're also having off and on thunder storms as well.

    @dfish Glad you're still able to go on your trip. Safe travels. I use CPAP but my case is very mild so I went without during my power outage. I have a spare UPS that I may try to use for backup power in the future.

    @mamaofami It's so good to hear of Sam's continued progress.

    @lindaler Congrats on the sale of the house.

    @aliaschief Enjoy Ketchikan!

    @smitty34877 I'm glad that Tana is coming home! Hoping all goes well for her.

    Prayers for the care list and cheer for the celebration list.

    Stay safe, and wear your mask when needed.

  2. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily.

    Good days.

    The quote is true, unless you believe in reincarnation.

    I like the meal, but too many carbs for me. I'll pass on the drink, but take the wine.

    I have been to today's port on a Princess cruise in 2012.

    I spent the morning trying to schedule a colonoscopy; the scheduler had trouble with her computer, then had to go get someone to help. We finally got it done. My doctor who did my previous ones retired, so it'll be someone new. Now, the thunder is rumbling and it's raining, as we're under severe thunderstorm alert. I'm hoping the power stays on. Predicted storms all week due to the heat/humidity.

    @dfish Enjoy the family picnic. Safe travels.

    @mamaofami Wonderful news on Sam's progress and prognosis.

    @aliaschief Thanks for checking in. Sounds like you're having a great time.

    @CruiseMGM I also took up sourdough breadmaking during the pandemic. My Frankie is in the fridge, and gets weekly feedings too. I haven't baked during this heat. Having a 500° F oven on just doesn't cut it. I did dry out some of my starter and have it in a jar; in case of failure of the one in the fridge, it can be reconstituted.

    Prayers for the care list and cheers for the celebration list. Stay safe everyone.

  3. Good evening. Thanks for the Daily.

    I'm really late today. I had my annual wellness check with the PCP today. She was happy with my BP, cholesterol, slight weight loss and successful eye surgery. Shortly after I came home the power went out! We had a thunderstorm but not a bad one. I was upset that I couldn't get on line with my phone, despite a good signal. You call Verizon and only get automated stuff. I finally chatted with someone online once the power was back; she really had no answers why I could call but no internet using cellular data.

    Interesting days. Happy Islamic New Year. I have no dog to spoil. I'll be lazy tomorrow. Love the Smithsonian. I like the quote.

    I like pulled pork. but I'm having pad Thai tonight.

    I have been to Lisbon on a land trip.

    @Mr. Boston Prayers for your DSIL.

    @Tbay Happy Birthday!

    @aliaschief Thanks for your updates!

    @cruzn single Praying for the best for you with your upcoming tests.

    Prayers for the care list and cheers for the celebration list.

    Stay safe and wear your 😷 if need be.

  4. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily.

    Good days. I love books and hope to be able to read more when I get new glasses; I do have a Kindle and can enlarge the print on that. I downloaded "The Path Between the Seas" after my Panama Canal cruise, but have yet to read it - it's next.

    Polka is big here as there are lots of Polish people; always played at weddings. Respect for indigenous people.

    Cute quote. The meal and drinks sound good, although the wine is out of my price range.

    I've done a river cruise in Russia, but was not in Vladivostok. I had my eye socket fractured on that cruise!

    I'm late today as I had a doctor's appointment this morning. One tomorrow too, then a reprieve until I go back to the eye doctor. It's way hot here today and high humidity.

    @dfish I'd put the nacho toppings on a salad, just like a taco salad.

    @mamaofami Glad to hear of Sam's continued progress.

    @StLouisCruisers Praying that Copeland improves; it's tough at that age to shake these things.

    @msmayor That is an unusual but great benefit for employees.

    Prayers for the care list and cheers for the celebration list.

    Wear your 😷 and stay safe!

    We had about a 15 minute rain overnight, just enough to take the smoke out of the air and to cool things down.  It was so strange to have cool weather that when we went out for a walk to the park this morning, everyone had to put on their bunny hugs and long pants before leaving the house.

    Smooth Sailing!  🙂🙂🙂

    What are bunny hugs? I've never heard of that.

  6. Good morning. Thanks for the Daily.

    Good days. I have never been a cat owner, I'll watch the Closing Ceremony, and like zucchini mainly as zoodles or in baked goods.

    I like the meal. I'll pass on the drink. Not into dessert wines.

    I haven't been to today's destination.

    Hot here for the next few days. I'll be mainly inside.

    @St. Louis Sal It sounds like you have a very nice night out.

    @DeeniEncinitas Welcome back!

    @mamaofami It's no fun fighting the insurance companies.

    @aliaschief Glad you're enjoying the cruise.

    Prayers for the care list (glad it's shorter) and cheers for the celebration list.

    Stay safe everyone.

    It’s letting me like posts again. Just no posting pictures.🤷🏼‍♀️

     When I went to post a picture today (PC) I was surprised to see the + sign was gone, which is how I usually would add a picture to a post, once I'd uploaded them. Today I had to put the curser down where the name of the picture is, and then insert magically appears! It's invisible if the cursor isn't in the right place.

    How terrible on that scam call!

  8. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily.

    Interesting days. I like campfires but haven't sat around one in years. Yes to beer, although I don't drink it very often. I like Belgian beers. And no to clowns.

    Great quote.

    I'll pass on the meal and drink; the wine sounds good but too pricey.

    I have been to Hubbard Glacier, but not Glacier Bay.

    It's hot here today. I have to find a time to mow the lawn over the next couple of days.

    @rafinmd Glad you got to post, even if it had to be in segments.

    @grapau27 Enjoy watching football. My friends in Germany are big football fans.

    @aliaschief Have a wonderful cruise!

    @mamaofami Enjoy your daughter's visit.

    @StLouisCruisers I'm glad you got to watch the ceremony; the next best thing to being there.

    @Crazy For Cats A safe trip home. I agree you hit the sweet spot for your cruise.

    @ger_77 It sounds like a fun time at your house! Enjoy those GS's.

    Prayers for the care list and cheers to the celebration list.

  9. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily.

    Interesting days. Remembering those lost in Hiroshima. I'll take fresh breath. I'd like to be wriggling toes in the sand somewhere. but will settle for doing it nightly before falling asleep.

    Good quote.

    I'll pass on fish, as usual, and the drink, although boilermakers are big here in Western PA. The coalminers would drink this after their shifts. Yes to the wine.

    I have been to Australia, but not this area.

    So devastating about the loss of life on the float plane in Ketchikan. RIP and prayers for their families, the remainder of the passengers, and crew of NA.

    @msmayor Welcome to the Daily!

    @aliaschief Bon Voyage! Safe travels.

    @grapau27 That room is charming.

    @ger_77 I'm glad your friend did well with her surgery. Enjoy that family get-together!

    Prayers for the care list and cheers for the celebration list.

    Stay safe all. Our numbers continue to go up. Now about 200 new cases a day (I don't know the breakdown of unvaccinated to vaccinated). So mask up indoors with strangers!

    I haven’t had much time to get to the Daily for a while.  We arrived in Seattle on Monday afternoon and have been enjoying our days with our son and family.  Our daughter and son-in-law arrived last night.  Our 60th Anniversary is today, and will celebrate in our son’s backyard, with the addition of our nephew and his wife! The weather is perfect. Hoping all works out for our cruise on Saturday.  So far, we’ll still be onboard.

    HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!

  11. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily.

    Interesting days. I think underwear is a good thing, lol. No slimy oysters for me! I used to work like a dog, then I retired, so no longer unless it's a project I want to do.

    Haha on the quote.

    The meal sounds interesting, although a bit involved. I'll pass on the drinks.

    I haven't been to today's destination. Appreciate the pictures.

    Another nice day here. I just spent an hour on the phone getting my MRIs scheduled. Same part of the body, but 2 separate ones are needed.

    @smitty34877 Prayers for Tana. And we like any pics of Miss Camilla! She's waving to us, lol.

    @grapau27 Your beach tent comes in very handy.

    @St. Louis Sal I'm glad the LP wasn't too bad and that you may be eligible for other trials.

    @ger_77 Continued prayers for your friend. Enjoy your family's visit.

    @cunnorl HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!

    @mamaofami It sounds like Sam is doing well and his doctors are on top of things.

    @NextOne Prayers for your DDIL. Sad she has this new issue on top of long hauler symptoms.

    @garlictown Safe travels.

    Prayers for the care list and cheers for the celebration list.

  12. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily.

    Great days! I love chocolate chip cookies, salute the Coast Guard, and kids are great (although I have none). Also a salute to white wine, although I prefer red.

    Pork chops sound good (but too much sodium in that recipe); I'm making a spicy chicken dish for dinner. The drink and wine sound good too.

    I haven't been to today's port.

    Not doing too much today. We're having some nice cooler days. I was trying to schedule my MRI but it looks like there's only an auth for 1 part of it, and not the other. So working on that.

    @grapau27 Nice. I miss the beach, having grown up at the New Jersey Shore.

    @St. Louis Sal Good luck with the LP.

    @smitty34877 Great news on Miss Camilla being out of the hospital!

    @StLouisCruisers So sorry you're going through this; such hard decisions but necessary to protect your family.

    @rafinmd I agree about testing at embarkation before boarding. I think it would help keep any spread down.

    @ger_77 Prayers for your friend's surgery tomorrow.

    @mamaofami Enjoy your down time.

    @durangoscots I'm glad to hear the Shelter Director is home, but dialysis can be tough.

    @bennybear I'm glad to hear DSIL is doing better. Great picture.

    Prayers for the Care list and cheers for the celebration list.

  13. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily.

    Interesting days. I like nuts and watermelon. I'll turn on the porch light for National Night Out; it's for police-community relationship building. I haven't heard of any block parries or other goings on. Last year it was cancelled.

    Great quote.

    I like the meal and drinks.

    I haven't been to today's port. Thanks for the pictures.

    I'm late today. Guess I missed all the update hoopla. I made an early run to the big box store. Our Covid numbers are up here: we had 25 cases a day 2 weeks ago, now quadrupled to over 100 a day. Not good.

    @mamaofami It sounds like you've accomplished a lot. Good going on getting help with the costs  and utilizing the Senior Center.

    @Crazy For Cats Great photos. Thanks.

    Prayers for the Care list and cheers for the celebration list.

    You would have to ask each individual captain that question! Don't forget, sailors are throwing lines with a weighted ball at the end of that line, from the bow upon arrival, and you know what would happen if, God forbid, some of those nice pax would get too close to that activity and would wind up getting plunked in the noggin........................Can you say $$$ and a couple more ?.........

    I was on a Russian River cruise and up on an observation deck taking pictures as we were docking, a deck above the sailor throwing a line from the ship. It went astray as he did some type of windup to throw it, and I was struck in the face by the weighted ball on the end! I now have a plate in my eye socket from an orbital blowout fracture it caused.

  15. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily. Busy thread today!

    Important days all. The Carnegie Museum here has excellent dinosaur displays.

    I like the quote.

    The meal and drinks sound interesting, although I do like my beef. I also like Roy's meal.

    I haven't been to today's destination (and had to look up where it is). Thanks for the pictures.

    Another doctor's appointment today. Seems I have one every week! Actually 2 next week, sigh. On a positive note, I do get to cut back on some of the eye drops starting today and it's the last night of wearing a shield over the eye.

    The weather is great today. Low 70's and low humidity. But I'm relaxing after 3 days of strenuous yard work.

    @kazu Good news on your BFF's DH's brain bleed. Hopefully they'll manage his pain well.

    @aliaschief  Smart move. Enjoy the cruise!

    @smitty34877 Continuing prayers for Tana and Miss Camilla.

    @cat shepard Thanks so much for recounting your adventures. You have a great writing style!

    @Crazy For Cats Thanks for letting us cruise vicariously with you!

    @Sharon in AZ Great picture of you and DGD.

    Prayers for the care list and cheers to the celebration list.

    Stay safe everyone. Our cases are up here, although our county vaccination rate is quite good.

  16. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily.

    Rabbit, Rabbit.

    Good days. Friendship and Forgiveness are so important. Love my select few girlfriends!

    Funny quote.

    I like the meal, pass on the drink and wine. I think it's chicken tonight for me.

    My first ever cruise (for my 50th birthday) originated in San Juan. It was a Princess Caribbean cruise.

    I'm a bit late today. I wanted to finish up the last of the shrub trimming this morning, as we're supposed to get rain this afternoon. I was also cutting my neighbors unruly stuff too that grows over on my side; he doesn't care and never does much to his yard.

    @grapau27 Wow on that pizza! And thanks for the piper.

    @smitty34877 Prayers for Tana and that she gets to go home from the hospital.

    @cat shepard Beautiful pictures. Makes us all want to go there!

    @Crazy For Cats Thanks for sharing your voyage.

    @JazzyV Vanessa, sycamore trees are trashy trees with their shedding bark and leaves in the fall, but they are fast growing and provide good shade.  We planted one at our old house to shade an upstairs bedroom window.  The new owners cut it down shortly after moving in.  Growing up, we had two sycamore trees in our front yard, and they helped keep the house cool in the summer before a/c.

    Lenda

    I think this tree was definitely planted for cooling the house. My house was built circa 1904, so way before a/c. I have an old picture of the house (not sure when it's from) and the tree is small. It is now huge. I like it except for the shedding bark and those green spikey things it drops.

    Maybe, We have lots of squirrels on this tree lined street. But I also saw a deer twice in my yard in the last 2 weeks; never had I seen that before. Unfortunately I had turned off my outside cameras when I was mowing the lawn yesterday and forgot to turn them on last evening. That's how I saw the deer.
