  1. Me....t-shirt during the day. Add some bling...and I'm dressed up!
  2. All these upset people....do they clean their homes twice a day? I don't. It's living in the "old glory days" of cruising....when people had to dress up for dinner etc. And just going on a cruise was considered a luxury. The times, they are a changin......... Keep it cost efficient. If people "want more" they can spend more on luxury lines.
  3. For people prone to seasickness, low and mid is the way to go. I really never understood why "high up and forward" is the most expensive.....even for a balcony, especially for an inside. We did an Ocean View on Carnival Magic...I think it was Deck 1, mid ship. The cabin was huge (by cabin standards) and we loved "being in the waves". You could barely feel the ship move. And, as a bonus, the cost was really low as compared to a balcony.
  4. Going in April.... What time is the YC dining room open for breakfast, lunch, dinner? Thanks!
  5. NCL enforcing rules is weird..... I was just about done....otherwise I would have elevated this to the manager.
  6. One time I was wearing a knee length t-shirt dress and sneakers....treading away on the treadmill. I was asked to leave because I was not wearing appropriate attire. Seriously? How many times have a seen people in sandals exercising....but that's ok? Hmmmm....maybe he thought I was under 16!
  7. As beautiful as the ships are....the land service is awful. On the home page there's a link to request a call from a concierge. Maybe they are a bit better trained and/or more logical that the reps at the call center. I'd give that a try. Maybe it's my imagination...or I had a senior moment, but I swear that just recently (last couple of weeks) they were pushing solo cruisers on the home page.
  8. And same response as given before....I don't have time to read a novel.
  9. @mickeychickyIf you book another person, would it be a real person with a real passport #? And then the person is a no-show at the pier? This may be a different outcome than booking for two, and then canceling one prior to check in.
  10. Call NCL or TA to remove the dining package. No need to pay extra if you're not going to use it. However, if you're past final payment, you may not be able to do this.
  11. One time I went to a steak house with my mother. The full meal included a very extensive salad bar. My mother decided that I should have her salad bar and she'd have her steak. I was very embarrased and never went back there. I had to teach my mother a lesson! (I was in my late 20's at the time.) Bottom line....people want something for nothing.
  12. YC interior (it's small but we travel light) for an 8 night cruise was less than an NCL balcony guarantee for 7 nights....same week! Up until this year my husband used to say "the day he needs a butler would be the day he can't walk". Although he can still walk (with a cane at this point), what sold me wasn't "the butler" but we could avoid lines and waiting. The spa, separate pool, meal on demand, lounge area, pizza delivery (and other food too), drinks (although we are very very light drinkers) are just added bonuses. If "the April cruise" happens...and I'm impressed....I may go for a larger cabin in YC next time!
  13. This is what my 88 year old husband used to say....until colon cancer hit. Now we're booked in YC and I'm thinking of canceling the NCL Sept (great price for a balcony) cruise just because we deserve/want/can afford to be pampered. Unfortunately.....I think he also needs it.
  14. It's not what you wear, but how you wear it. For me it's gonna be t-shirts with bling added for evening attire.
  15. And I did my price comparison. For our 8 night MSC cruise vs NCL same week...guarantee balcony (no drinks or meals)...YC came in a few dollars less. Not to mention...we like the MSC itinerary....don't like NCL's.
  16. DH and I are booked for an April Meraviglia YC...interior. We don't drink (as an example, we ate in a restaurant that offers a complimantery glass of wine with a meal...he drank his, I had about 1/3 of mine)...so maybe we'll have one glass each per day. But, the other amenitites are important....no standing on lines, no long waits for meals, spa, separate pool and lounge.....those are why we chose YC!
  17. I was in a "fat group" several years back. The politically correct term would be "How To Lose Weight" class. One participant complained that she didn't lose anything. Not being a person who filters well or is politically correct...I told her the only way is to eat less and move more.
  18. I really hate reading this. I've only been on MSC twice, both times with "the masses". I thought "other people" were more upscale and cultured than me....after all, besides the cost of the cruise they flew in from "foreign lands" and they had a "sense of style". I guess that's no longer the case. Cheap cabins plus cheap alcohol....and that's the crowd you get. To those that sailed recently....is the crowd no longer "foreigners who live in foreign lands"?
  19. To be honest....if I wanted to spend the money the Haven costs ...I would go on more prestigious line. I never understood the lure of the Haven. You're not getting that much more but you're paying a lot more. Oh well.... that's why there are choices.
  20. I think they should just drop the "Bermuda in the winter" thing. It's not the weather in Bermuda...it's the weather/currents getting there. Newport in the winter.....I don't think so. They should look at their pre-pandemic itineraries....those worked.
  21. @mking8288Wow.....thank you for posting your experience on this thread. Although we rarely eat in the MDR....it sounds like there are just too many cutbacks. I'm wondering if they watered down the buffet (I know...no more late night snacks.
  22. I don't think you do. When I go to any new place....let's take a restaurant....I check the Yelp listing and/or the menu on line. Let's say I eat mainly vegatables/fish. If I didn't check Yelp etc...got there...it's basically a steak house with very few "healthy options"....whose fault would that be? The information is out there.....as a patron, it's your responsibility to check it.
  23. @PATRLR"Everybody" knows going to the Caribbean during hurricane season is a bad idea. NCL doesn't warn people. Winter Bermuda cruises started only because other ports still had covid restictions. And, based on how many Bermuda stops were cancelled....it doesn't take a psychic to predict that it will probably be eliminated from itineraries going forward.
