Cabin Number:  7119  (Owners Suite).

Ship:  Onward

Month/Year:  Feb/March, 2023

Choose Again:  Definitely

Noise:  No issue.  Of course being at aft there will be vibrations when docking at ports.

Balcony Size:  Large

Comments:  Beautiful suite.  Well laid out size wise and comfortable decor.  The shower is wonderful.  I would rate it best suite on the ship!  Hope to experience it again in the future.

Well, guess I may begin looking for a different itinerary!  Thank you very much

Good luck.  Not sure how much noise the rooms actually have.  But, Spain Intensive is a very good cruise.  If you are going to skip on it, I'd find one off in the future with room availability.

But first, did you look at the comments for the rooms you are considering?  We are same kind of schedule as you.

Ship  - Onward

Cabin No:  6050

Year:  March 2023

Standard Balcony Cabin  V3

Noise issue - Yes

Would NOT choose this cabin again

This cabin is directly located above the shops on deck 5.  The  shop doors/shutters are on a rail system and are manually operated causing a great deal of noise and vibration in the cabin around the door area whenever they were open or closed. Since the shops tend to close around 23:30 we were disturbed every night apart from the 2 overnights we had in port.

Ship  - Pursuit

Cabin No:  6033

Year:  March 2023

Standard Balcony Cabin  Outside, restricted view

Noise issue - Yes, however, it did not bother us

Would choose this cabin again YES

This is one of the restricted views, outside cabins, Y Guarantee. It's by no means an ideal cabin. The set-up is rather quirky and not very practical, with only one chair to sit on. It's quite small.

6033, does have a very small lifeboat in front of the window, which didn't bother us. Right next to the elevators, so there was late-night noise of party people going back to their cabins.

Ships motion/Engine noise/Vibration etc cabin is ideal.

Considering its obvious cons, this cabin can be excellent value for money for the overall excellent Azamara product

I think 6033 is an oceanview cabin not a balcony cabin.

Cabin: 7006

Ship: Pursuit

Sailed: October 2018

Choose again: No (unless there was a good offer as this cruise was)

Noise: Yes

Balcony: N/A

Comments: Lovely large ocean view room incorporating balcony space inside. BUT noise from anchor chain and bow thrusters really bad.

onboard the Pursuit sailing around the greek islands as of this writing staying in 7006. True anchor and thrusters are definitely heard and depending on time of day (would most likely disturb your sleep). Not so much an issue for us. The size of the bathroom, in particular the shower, is my main concern.
As Rodney Dangerfield once joked, my house is so small I need to go outside to change my mind. In 7006 you squeezed into this shower.
Not impossible though as close as you can come. Point being, would not have booked the cabin had I realized this aspect.

Like the Forward Port location. Size of the Cabin indeed tight yet we do not normally spend a great deal of time in the cabin only to sleep, shower (you know that story). Do not mind not having a balcony (slightly chilly during this sailing 50-60F).

The Pursuit is an easy ship to navigate.

In closing and not related to the cabin, finding the food rather blaze’ or mediocre.
First time on Azamara and not impressed with taste of food. Speciality Dining (of which there are two) again, pedestrian after two experiences (1 in Aqualina (my Rigatoni was clearly taken from the Applebees kitchen) and Prime C struggled as well. In summary, when the Pool Side Grill and Buffet Dining are superior in taste to the Speciality Dining and Main Dining options, Houston we have a problem.

Will most likely chalk this experience on Azamara to “been there, done that” and move on. Will go back to Oceania for our next voyage.

ahoy

Presumably you don’t use the Oceania ‘R’ class ships - Sirena, Regatta, Insignia & Nautical as their cabins & bathrooms are exactly the same size as those on Azamara.

Your point Grandma?

That you complained about the size of the bathroom on the Azamara ships, yet say you prefer Oceania, so I guessed you don’t go on the ‘R’ class Oceania ships in a Verandah or Oceanview cabin. If you did the bathroom size would not have been such a ‘main concern’ for you.

Ahhhh. I do not wish to complain rather report a cabin detail that I was not aware of going into my cabin selection.
I do not recall reading a detail on Cabin Bathrooms nor finding one anywhere.
If you know of one, I would appreciate the link for my reading.
We booked late (finding someone to watch our cats delayed our reservation process).
Normally we would select a balcony or suite cabin. Not savvy with categories for each line. Though I believe if I scour this website I will soon be.

Cheers

Balcony cabins on Azamara (& Oceania ‘R’ class) have exactly the same bathroom as Oceanview

Thank you. I go back to the question: if known, is there a website where this bathroom size detail is shown?

Apparently some online travel agencies have this information, but Cruise Critic rules prevent us from naming them or hinting at them.

Another website with lots of information about cruise ships, including the Azamara and Oceania fleets, is CruiseDeckPlans.  They show a schematic of each cabin type, but do not give dimensions.  A very good encyclopedic reference to cruise ships is Douglas Ward's Berlitz Cruising & Cruise Ships 2020 (available on Amazon – new edition coming in November as Insight Guides Cruising & Cruise Ships 2023) – it gives lots of specifications of every cruise ship plus detailed descriptions and ratings, but not exact cabin or bathroom dimensions.

There have been many, many threads on this CC forum that discuss (and bemoan) the small size of the showers in Azamara Ocean View and Veranda Cabins.  Also complaints about the 'clingy' shower curtains, with counter-posts that a few years ago Azamara replaced the plastic shower curtains with cloth ones that don't cling as much – and the additional information that Oceania replaced the shower curtains on their R ships with glass doors, which many people find even worse than the shower curtains because they put a hard limit on the small size of the shower (while the shower curtain allows your body to expand the size as needed, and especially protects your funny bone from a nasty encounter with the glass door).  [I am on a ship at the moment and the internet isn't good enough for me to do the research for you to find these threads.  There is a search function in the top right of this screen.]

i was going to mention the old flimsy curtains!  The bathroom also had a vent that helped blow it into you!  Even with clothes pins it was hard not to feel Saran wrapped at times.  The newer curtains I don’t think are heavy enough but given that they need to dry in a reasonable amount of time when being washed on the ship it’s not a bad solution!

I’ve been in some of those three piece curved door  showers and they are claustrophobic to me!

I’ve forgotten which ship I knocked the soap container off the wall, with my elbow every time I tried to shower and not get water all over the floor! I remember the sides being angled but it didn’t help as much as one might hope!

After being in handicap cabins in heavy seas, I now have more tolerance for water all over the floor simply because it’s inevitable.  I think if I ever had to deal with the old shower curtains again I’d just remove the curtain.  After all many hotels are using a short glass wall and no curtain and many work nicely.

Many thanks taking the time to share constructive/productive information.
I suppose it’s our first time in this (whatever type it is) cabin with the minimal bathroom dimension. We too are onboard as I write and looking around - confident many in this cabin type and similar are definitely not fitting in this shower thus not showering.
I will say the cloth shower curtain is a good fit in the space for all the reasons you quoted.

I will look into the resources you offer - again, thank you. It strikes me as suspicious why such detail requires an archeological dig.

Truly enjoying the sailing despite the shower challenge (thankfully we also sign up for the Spa facilities-obc to the rescue😀

good day JB

I was on the Onward recently and had read that the whole bathroom floor outside of the shower is like a big drain so some people showered without using the shower curtain. So, of course I had to try it, and it worked surprising well eliminating some of that closed in feeling in the shower. And surprisingly there wasn’t that much water that escaped the shower either.

On my first Azamara cruise I met a solo gentlemen that always got a locker for the jim.  That gave him access to be able to shower there!  He claimed that that was the best way to deal with wanting more space but cautioned that space can fill pretty quickly.  I do not recall if there was a cost but I think he said he found it minimal and well worth it.

Outstanding observation and advice.
This is exactly what I am doing since we opted for a Sanctum Spa pass at $150 per couple which gives us unrestricted access to a private deck that has an outdoor a salt water whirlpool hot tub along with an area with chaise lounges for quiet conversation and sun. Off of this area is the locker room you mentioned that has an ample sized shower, steam room as well as lockers for storing a change of clothes.
included in this locker is a full length robe and water slippers for showering and walking about the locker and deck area. I understand that the area I describe above is included with certain suite cabins (specific cabins I am not aware). Indeed an option to the mini shower in our cabin. In short, with time and experience options are discovered.

Thank you for your contribution.
Cheers

The spreadsheet does not give any information about this cabin.  As there is no new current information posted on it, I am not sure if any of the cabins on Onward appear on the spread sheet.

When I was getting ready for my cruise on the Onward, there was information posted on cruise critic regarding the Owner Suites.  The person posting stated that Owner Suites on the port side all had the combination tub like structure with shower and the starboard Owner Suites had the full shower. Mine was 7119 (starboard) and had a magnificent shower.  If this information is correct, 6088 would have the combination.
