What is typically included in the coupon books? We will have them on our 9-18-16 sailing on the Grand Princess.

For us, it's stuff we don't want. Never used a coupon yet and have had the book on every cruise we've taken (18 and counting:D)

A small discount in the spa

Discounts of of specific items in the boutiques - mostly jewelry

Buy one photo - get another one at discount (?)

10% off on any purchase over $100 during the first couple of days in the shops. Used to have a very nice coffee card offer of buy one get one free; no longer there. Casino coupon for BOGO in slot/BJ tournament. Book is mostly useless :-(

Where do you get these coupon books

Princess gives one that is basically worthless. If you have a travel agent then sometimes you will get another one that has a few possibly useful coupons (depending on what you are spending anyway). Things like the wine at the specialty restaurant (mentioned earlier) or a free 11" x 14" print from the Platinum Studio if you buy one (they don't have to be the same picture). We have rarely used most of the coupons, but, I know others who have.

Sample coupons from the Princess booklet everyone gets:

Save an extra 10% on your designer sunglass purchase of $200 or more.

Save an extra $200 off on your Effy purchase of $2,000 or more.

Free foot print analysis at the spa.

Sample coupons from the Travel Agent booklet (which really comes from Princess):

Buy one glass of house wine in the Princess Theater and receive another glass of the same wine free.

Lotus Spa port day special - save $35 off La Therapie Hydra-Therapie Skin Nutritive Facial.

Platinum Studio Free 11x14 photo with your Platinum Studio Purchase (note: minimum price of that purchase is $199)

I think that one may have been changed. We didn't pay that much for the first one ($150.00 without pulling the receipt, I am pretty sure). So, two prints (and the second one a freebie that could be different from the one that you paid for) made the deal a decent price considering the cost of a professional photo sitting here at home. DW wanted it and she was more than pleased with the result (me, too, if you must know). YMMV

We used one on our recent cruise. I didn't have the coupon book but the store clerk scanned it from one on her desk. It was 10% off if you bought two or more bottles of liquor. I bought a bottle of Jameson for the hotel and the train ride home and my wife got a bottle of Grand Marnier to bring home. Nothing special but 10% off is better than nothing.

Other than that they have been mostly useless to us. I did use one a year or two ago for a BOGO other than the "regular" BOGO hours.

THANK YOU caribill, I've been looking for the specific price on a photo-I have the Suite Perk of a Photo Sitting, and was hoping to get a photo as a souvenir of my 1st cruise. I will be getting the Welcome Aboard Package, which from memory is 2 photos, and IIRC, a ship shaped USB stick. It's $AU), again IIRC, as it's been a few weeks since I checked the Australian photography packages.

Personally, great excitement today I PAID OFF MY CRUISE FARE!

Can't say we used any of the coupons in the book we found in our cabin, but I did however use a couple of the shop coupons in the port specific coupon books we received before leaving the ship. Got a free gift at a jewelry store, then a discount on a purchase.

Note that the Platinum Studio photos (all are b&w) are priced much higher than the regular photos the photography staff take. The regular photographers' most expensive regular photos (formal nights) are around $25.

I think your suite perk is a sitting with the regular photographers as opposed to having to see them at their various setups on the public decks.

Any passenger can have a private sitting with the Platinum Studio photographer.
